Dusk had never felt so pathetic in her life. Overdue by uncountable days, she was miserable and really at a loss for what to do.

Declan had been a huge foal. But she was twice as large right now as she was when she gave birth to him. The pretty mahogany-bay mare was so bloated that she had been reduced to a sad waddle, the exact opposite of her typically light and graceful gait. Her middle was swollen and distended, and she had never been in more pain. She'd spent the last few days in a spacious clearing, the same one that Declan had been born in.

Though his birth had went well, she couldn't help but hope the circumstances that happened after. The explosive meeting between her claimer and Rowan that had followed had been less than optimal, and Dusk was worried to return. She had a desire to show Rowan her newest child, but not if it was going to cause problems.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a contraction, the first truly powerful one she had. Her pretty white face contorted into a mask of pain. Finally, it was time; she wasn't sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing, but either way Dusk was relieved. She'd been away for far too long. An irrational fear still remained deep within her that Morte would find her and spirit her away to his mountain conclave. The Province was the only place she felt safe; she was anxious to get back.

Lying down on her side, Dusk lets out an 'oof' of breath and then another contraction hit. Gritting her teeth, closing her eyes, Dusk pushed for all she was worth. What could have been a lifetime later, there was a release of pressure and the strong scent of blood. But, nothing stopped. There was a moment o fpanic, and Dusk felt like she couldn't breathe; what was going on, exactly? Was...Was there another one?

A moment later, she knew without a doubt there was because contractions came again, hard and fast. Dusk gasped, and she pushed. And then there was a second plop, and gladly, the contractions stopped. Dusk sighed with relief. Her body was screaming with pain, but she turned as best she could, first cleaning the remaining membrane from the first foal, revealing a beautifully painted black filly. The tiny thing was already moving around, and so Dusk moved to the next foal, cleaning her too. It revealed a beautifully painted bay filly, with ice blue eyes to match her sisters.

Dusk smiled before speaking, her voice soft and horse. Lowering her muzzle to the black filly's head, she said softly "You'll be Saedi," and to the bay, she whispered with a smile, "And you'll be Blaise."

Dusk rose, her feet unsteady beneath her. And then the two fillies followed slowly, as wobbly as their mother. First Saedi moved to nurse, with Blaise not far behind her. And then when they finished, Dusk moved forward, her daughters close behind. The Province was the only thing on her mind, and the bay knew she wouldn't be content until she got there.
