ooc: I know Vlad is super overdue, but I'm using liquid time and acting like he's not born super late.

The older mare had no idea that there was something wrong with her pregnancy. Everything seemed fine to the black draft, though this was her first time being a mother. She had seen Twilight more and more often lately, and New Moon figured it had to do with the fact that she was carrying her late sister's lover's child. This meant a lot to her, and it probably had to do with the fact that she was developing feelings for Salador herself. She was genuinely glad that the stallion was back, and hoped he would stay around for the raising of their child.

Moon winced as the first contraction hit her, and the robust draft mare pushed herself forward to find a suitable spot. Once she had, she lowered herself to the ground. But when the process began, she then knew something was wrong. Nothing was happening when she was pushing, and the pain was severe. She felt like she was dying. She spent who knows how long trying to expel the foal from her body, until she was drenched with sweat, and she barely had any energy left. But right as she was sure she would die, she finally pushed the foal out with a loud, anguished groan. She laid there for who knows how long, trying to sum up the energy to move after the ordeal.

She lifted her pale head, and turned her cranium to look behind her. There laid a black paint colt, listless, unmoving. Moon forgot all her pain at that moment, and panicked. What was wrong with her son? Why wasn't he moving? She lurched to her feet, still ignoring the pain that wracked her sturdy frame. She nudged the lifeless form, and then began to rub his chest, trying to get his lungs to open, to get the blood flowing. But as the minutes went by, she grew hopeless. But then, when she about to abandon all hope and deem her son stillborn, he gasped for air. A tired smile graced her pale lips as the wave of exhaustion and pain hit her.

It took an hour or so to get him to stand and nurse. And after that, Moon took her son to a sheltered area not far from where he was born, and laid down with him. Right before they drifted off to sleep, she named him. "I will call you Vladimir, my son..."
