KYLAIA&&irina At some point, Kylaia and sworn to herself she'd never return to the Foaling Quarry (or the grounds that made it necessary to venture here). She remembered the exact moment that she had made the promise too; lying on the ground, bleeding as Kei fought his way into the world. Obviously, that promise was broken. It was hard to resist, with a stallion such as Viral. There was a reason Ky had stayed loyal so long; it had little to do with the power she was given in the herd, and more to do with her feelings for Viral. Little more than attraction and respect, she had always thought, but love had grown from less before. Besides,Kei was three now, and she was a Granddam. Layla had her own filly; in fact, it would be older than this newest child Kylaia was carrying. The very thought was disturbing to the petite Grulla mare and she was able to brush it off with a shudder as one of the first telling contractions rippled through her body. Her small hooves carried her swiftly to the spot she had utilized for all three births, even when she was tempted to venture over to where Layla had found. Instead, she walked easily to the side of the stream, dropping comfortably to the bed of grass. for once not nervous about being here. No blind yearling to worry about losing, and she wasn't a first timer. For once, this should be easy. And so it was; around an hour later, Kylaia rises, breath drawn in through wide-flared nostrils. Her dark grey sides are sweat-streaked, and as she turns to the foal at her feet, still dirty from the birth, her knees shake and her eyes flutter with exhaustion. But she pushes through it, moving to clean the child she has just given birth to; it soon becomes apparent that it is female, and Kylaia isn't disappointed--even when Kei was named heir, he had no place among Viral's other children. He was less power-hungry and cunning than the rest, simply a flirt who desired his own herd and life. Kylaia was secretly glad she didn't have another colt to present to Viral, have named heir only to disappoint yet again. The chestnut always seemed to like Layla better anyway. This filly, though, was not as impressive as Layla had been at birth. She was a delicate looking thing, with a boring black and white coat. Kylaia fought off the feelings of disappointment that her daughter wasn't a flashy, pretty thing to make up for being female. She had clear, crystalline blue eyes that were startling in her young face. Those, at least, were satisfactory. As the painted newborn struggled to rise, Ky helped with a soft muzzle under her rump, pushing the filly to her feet. Staggering on new, weak legs to her mothers hindquarters the filly eagerly begins to nurse. Ky jerks at the always-unfamiliar sensation before relaxing, loosing a calm sigh. "You'll be Irina, little one." |
