Morraine

The alabaster cream Vanner mare lightly trotted into the familiar territory of Border Springs with relative ease. She still was a little sore from labor but she was quite fine and healthy. The only difference in her appearance was the shagging to her coat to prepare for winter adding a slight cream affect to her alabaster coat. She was still quite the beauty even though she had recently given birth.

There was one thing she had over the little mares. The little bouncing red tinted foal cantering along her side happily was not a filly, but the only son to Caradoc. She knew the bay stallion was going to be ecstatic over his newest addition. She knew how much it meant to the bay to have a son, especially after having to little girls to dolt over. Now he had a little boy to teach how to be some young fillies romantic hero. However, Morraine was still rather uncertain if she was going to stay in Border Springs. She knew she had no choice but to stay since she produced the only current male heir. Plus, the little hellion had grown on her. She had been terribly uncertain at first if she was going to be able to love a colt.

Morraine slid to a light halt and nickered a summon for Caradoc. She knew the Bay stallion was not far and who knows maybe the rest of the herd and their children would soon join them.

"Caradoc! Come meet your child!"

Standing immersed in one of the springs, enjoying beyond words the feel of the cool, healing waters upon his bay coat, Caradoc's eyes snap open as he hears a female voice call out his name demandingly. Something about meeting his child? He had already met both Karas and Misa, so his summoner could only be Morraine, the newer of his pair of resident mares. He looks down at the water wistfully, not wanting to leave it, but knowing that he must go to her and their foal. The stallion walks towards shore, the water level dropping from shoulder height to leg to ankle, until it was barely lapping against his hooves, and then he was on dry land again, his coat sopping wet. Once his hooves are back on terra firma, he becomes suddenly eager, rushing on towards the direction he had heard the Vanner call from without taking time to try and get the water out of his coat.

As the newborn colt stands next to his mother, waiting to meet this Caradoc, whom his mother said was his father, the stallion who owned these lands, he fidgets nervously, then brushes his small reddish muzzle against Morraine's leg, wanting to feel her warmth and be as calm about the situation as she was. His mother was always so confidant! Blaine hopes that he can teach himself to be as self-assured as she is. The sound of hoofbeats pounding against grass begin to reach his ears, faintly at first, then louder and louder until the bay stallion stands before him and Morraine, a warm expression upon his face. Caradoc moves a step or two closer, near enough to look his newest offspring over, but also keeping himself from standing too close and infringing on the mare's "personal bubble". "Morraine! Welcome back. " He is thrilled to his core when he sees that his third child is a colt....now he has an heir to train, not that he had much knowledge yet to pass on to the next generation. He speaks to the mare again, softly, only half-aware that he is doing so. "Thank you...." he murmurs to the draft mare, before refocusing his attention upon the boy. "I'm your father, Caradoc....what did your mother name you? " Feeling unafraid now that his unknown father seems to be quite friendly towards him, Blaine steps towards the stallion, touching his leg curiously with his nose. "She said my name is Blaine. ", is the colt's simple reply. He flicks his gaze back towards Morraine, hoping she approved of his behavior.

Morraine lowered her alabaster head to her new born reddish colt in attempt to calm him. She could feel the little one brushing up against her larger stocky legs. Morraine lifts her head with alabaster ears perked forward to see if the approaching equine was indeed Caradoc and not one of the other mares.

Morraine watched as the bay approached her and Blaine seemingly standing at a decent distance so that she could see him. She could tell that the stallion was quite excited about his new colt. She knew how much it meant to him to have a son. The half murmured thank you reached Morraine's ears but she was not sure as to why he was thanking her. She did feel that it was a huge matter to press and stayed quiet watching Caradoc interact with Blaine. She watched as the colt left her side as he grew curious over the stallion. She smiled lightly as the stallion asked the little colt his name and watching her son to see him want to be assured. It was nice to know her son was respectful. She gave Blaine a light reassuring nuzzle before once again letting him interact with his father. Morraine looked at Caradoc and noticed that his coat still betrayed the fact that he had been in the creek. It was just a simple observation.

Morraine looked around and noticed neither of the other two mares or their fillies were around. She looked once again to Caradoc and asked.

"Where are Misa and Karas, Caradoc?"

Caradoc smiles to see that the colt is already so well-behaved. Not that his daughters weren't polite as well, but it bodes well that his first son, likely to be his heir, was respectful to his mother....he probably would be so to his sisters and other females as well. And it was important to Caradoc that Blaine should be this way, for mares should be respected always, not treated as mere objects. Anyway. He snaps out of his ponderings with a brisk shake of his bay head, barely in time to hear Morraine's question. First, though, he has to respond to the little red colt, before he caught a bout of shyness again. "Blaine, eh? I think that's a fine name for a handsome colt like you. " The colt ducks his head out of embarrassment-were he able to blush, his cheeks would be even more ruddy now, but manages to murmur a thank you to his father. The stallion nuzzles him quickly, then raises his head to respond to Morraine, though he hasn't much of an answer for her, for he'd been wondering this same question himself for some time now. "I'm not all that sure myself, Morraine....I've scented them a time or two on the breeze, but haven't seen them. Perhaps Lyrinx wants some time alone with Karas, to bond with her one on one? " He notices their son looking at him quizzically, and speaks again. "Lyrinx is a donkey mare in this herd, Blaine, and Karas is your half-sister. " A half-sister?, wonders the young foal. He swishes his tail cheerfully at the realization that she might be a playmate, when he did get to meet her.

Morraine was kind of shocked that the fillies were not around to greet their new sibling, but she understood the wanting to bond closer to their children. However, Morraine was content with bonding with both Blaine and Caradoc at the same time. The oddly colored Gypsy was still unsure about her feelings toward the bay stallion. Morraine watched the bay interact with their son. She was quite shyly amused that they were very close already. Her son definitely looked more like his father.

Morraine walked closer to Caradoc and her son and bent her head down to give her little red foal and light nuzzle. Morraine picked up her dainty draft head and spoke to Caradoc softly.

"I am going to go and rest, you may show Blaine around if you like."
