"She has duct tape and chloroform and a map to your house in the back seat of her car. I thought that was a bit strange..."
For hundreds of years, the world of Kormada was peaceful. Most of the globe was covered in dense plant life, earning it the nickname, "The Forest Planet." It was pure, untouched by man or machine, home only to a unique species of equine from which all Earth horses are descended. The Kormadian equines are gifted with a special power--the power of speech--a gift which horses on Earth gradually lost after man first domesticated them.

The world contained but one landmass at the time, the supercontinent Avia, on which all members of the species lived in harmony.

Somewhere around the year 620K.T. (Kormadian Time), an event which would come to be known as the Great Split occurred. An enormous earthquake severed Avia into four new continents--the Offland, Northern and Southern Mainland, and the Marredland. Lives were lost, homes destroyed, and herds divided. The quake sent the planet into a tumbling orbit around its resident star. It now spun on not one axis, but three, leaving certain parts of the world sizzling hot, some nearly glacial, and others untouched.

Those living on the separated continents came to be fiercely protective over their lands, particularly those living in the Marredland. With their continent now nearly molten, those living on it were forced to change their ways. Dark sides and Lights developed amoung the Kormadians, resulting in all out wars. Eventually a third alliance developed--the Neutrals--and then the Rogues as well.

Kormada became a world ravaged by disaster, a time which would come to be known as Penumbra--"The Age of Shadows."

The Lands

The Offland is a mountainous region in the Northeastern hempisphere of Kormada. It is known for its vertical shorelines--cliffs hundreds of feet high tower over the ocean below along almost the entire perimeter of the continent. It is perhaps the safest continent, for it is home only to Lights and Neutrals. It is also the home of the sacred Weeping Towers--two identical hundred foot towers which stand side by side on it's Western shore.

The Northern Mainland is a land in which survival is not always promised. It does contain some of the most beautiful land formations in the world, however. For those who claim these formations as part of their territory, life could be grand. The continent itself is not dangerous, but the herds who live there. It is here in which Lights will battle Lights for control over territories.

The Southern Mainland is a glacial region partially connected to its Northern half. A long cove extends almost all the way through the land, nearly separating the two continents. Its cold, harsh environment makes survival extremely difficult. Herds who live here are often small and contain only the strongest animals.

The Marredland is the land from which many Darks have originated. It is a cruel, sulferous area filled with volcanic activity. Its sizzling temperatures come from beneath, not from above, for this land is almost entirely covered with a thick blanket of ash, blocking out any hope of sunlight. This land is inhabited only by Darks and Neutrals, and the occasional Rogue.

The Desoland is one of four recently discovered continents on the planet. It is relatively small, possibly the smallest of the continents, and it isn't the best choice for one looking to have a herd. Sometime during the Great Split this continent was devastated by some sort of nuclear happening. The most probable cause of its lifelessness is that it was struck by a small meteorite, as the land is covered in great amounts of glassy sand, evidence of intense heat, which could only have been caused by a strange rock's impact.

The Scantland was originally named because of its numerous dead and dying forests, apparently burned to death. It is presumed to have been attached to the Desoland at one point, but upon their separation, the Scantland became fertile once more, and is now perhaps the most inhabitable continent in Kormada. It is divided into a number of territories, seeing as most who set foot upon it wish to claim a piece of the hope it offers.

The Loftland is a mountainous region which is located in the center of the three other recently discovered continents. It is also rather small, as are its territories. This is understandable however, for it is overrun with mountain ranges, and is therefore not the most favorable of lands to live in. For most, it is the sheer beauty of the land which attracts.

The Tranceland is the newest discovery on Kormada. It is the largest continent found so far, spanning almost the entire length of the area taken up by the other three continents. Unlike the others, it is less jagged along its borders, suggesting that it was not connected to the supercontinent Avia as the rest appear to have been. Certain areas of the land even provide evidence that the land is not native to the planet itself, and that it is merely the leftover pieces of a long dead asteroid which hit the planet and whose fragments were melted together into one giant mass. The continent is known for its warm climate, and this seems to be the result of some internal heat source. The air above the land is always colder, and thus the place is covered with thick fog. Perhaps there is more to this continent that is as of yet undiscovered.

General Kormadian Facts

The seasons in Kormada do not consist of summer, winter, spring or fall. Rather the seasons are present only in the actual territory. The planet spins on a unique number of axis, making seasons virtually unpredictable. Hence there is no planetwide winter, but only territorial winter, if you wish to make it so.

Kormada has two moons: Nonus and Omicron. Omicron is the larger of the two, and has faint rings visible around it. Nonus is recognized by its blue-ish tint.

The star resident in the Kormadian solar system is known as Prime. It is similar to the Earth's Sun, save for its age. Prime is much younger. Its light reflects off of both Nonus and Omicron, making the planet's night much less dark than we humans are accustomed to here on Earth. At night also are visible two shadows of every object and organism on the planet. During the day, only one shadow is present.
