Major Turney walked through the Coalition base and entered the C and M-Squadran Area. It was tucked away in a little corner and no one without special permission was allowed to enter. He walked passed the briefing tent and the storage room, several of his men giving him a heads up as he passed by. Some were cleaning weapons, others brewing tea and a few were kicking around a ball. They seemed like normal-enough blokes, but Turney knew better. Since they had arrived several weeks ago, they had gotton 11 confirmed kills, but as of yet they hadn't really been let off the leash. Some of C-Squadran were based on board the ships with the fleet, several miles off shore, the rest were stuck here. A loud group of yanks passed by, shouting something about the New York Jets- whoever they were. Aside from C-Squadran, the Fire Support Group were the only other Brits here. The rest were Americans, except for a few Danes who Turney had yet to meet. "You wanna brew sir?" asked Johnno, a tall but lanky Sergent with a thick Yorkshire accent. He was a good man- one of the best. "Sure. I will be on my bunk." replied Turney. He wanted to get some rest in before 1st Troop commanded by Captain Cooper returned from the field. They had been tasked with a recon mission. It was a pretty standard and as far as they were concerned boring mission. Edited by Finn 1939, Feb 2 2010, 10:09 PM.

Heffer surveyed the CV90. "Ready..... Go!" The back ramp dropped and out rushed Lance Corporal Lylloff, he let his right foot touch the ground once before diving forward, landing on his stomach. Pvt. Levin and Pvt. Madsen came out after him and moved to the right and left, and proceed to the front of the vehicle. After 6.8 seconds the 7 man squad was in position and Platoon Sergeant Lassen yelled out; "ramp clear!". The CV90 quickly closed its ramp and Heffer stopped the clock. "Good work guardsmen, take five". The Major walked into his tent and sat down, closing his eyes and rubbing his temples. The heat was still getting to him. Even after a month here. It had been the same as in A-stan and Iraq, and he made sure to drink lots of fluid. Heffer wasn't as young as he had been back in Helmand and Basra. His once brown hair had begun turning Gray. But that came with the job as a soldier. Still, Heffer was in good shape compared to some of his troopers, he was the 12th best shot in the company and could outrun the majority of the company. He was still referred to as "granddad" by the entire company, though it didn't bother him. There was a knock on the wooden board standing outside and Lieutenant Hyldig came in. "Sir, you alright?" Heffer stood up and smiled to his SIC: "Just fine Lieutenant, what do you want?" "Sir, i was just wondering what the corner part of the camp is housing? Some of the men are curios about who we are sharing the camp with. And they have only met the Americans so far". Heffer got out the camp detail file and looked through it. "Says here they are Special Forces, Special Boat Service". Hyldig let out a sigh; "sf? oh damn it, probably some superior gits acting like they are better than the rest of us" "That's because they are Hyldig" Heffer replied calmly, thinking back to his time in a Hunter Patrol during his 2 year training in the Jægerkorps. "But they are brits, so it won't be that bad. They are generally nice enough people". |

Kruger got in his HMMWV it was doorless for it alowed him and his crew to get out quicker when the shit hit the fan. "Fox 1 to Boss Hog, we are Oscar Mike." The first section of trucks pulled away along the dusty road they had been trecking back to camp Ohmaha for the past day the roads were in such poor condition it ment large detours and the razor sharp rocks in the sun baked open ground made it untraversable for wheeled trucks. "Wolf 1 to Boss Hog, Oscar Mike." The HMMWV bounced to life as Gunnery Seargent Troy put it into gear and pulled onto the road, The dust from the truck infront filled up the cabin, Troy pulled up his balaclava and let the gap between the two trucks grow a little wider "Raven 1 is Oscar Mike." The last section joined on the end of the convoy people from the nearby village were walking down the road in the oppisite direction carrying all their belongings with them it was like this up and down the country, They had been told of a UN safe zone and they were drawn to it like a moth to a flame there houses were fine malitia had no interest in these shacks. They were up for looters now and nobody would stop them. "Shame these guys lost everything, They have no jobs no.." "You getting soft on the sammies Rock?" Troy laughed "Whats it matter theres guys with no jobs in the US too $10 says you dont look twice, Plus these bastards are twice as likely to shoot you" "How the hell did you get to be a Lt with that attitude." Kruger laughed raisng his weapon to have a quick scan, He looked at his map "Fox 1 this is Boss Hogg, Turn left in 50 yards onto that side road." "You know I do what I do what I do what I do" He laughed changing gear and slowing down with the convoy. "This is Bravo 1 to HQ, We are 30 miles from Camp but we have been forced to take a route change we. ETA 1 hour Out." He leaned back into his chair and pulled up his helmet wrap. "Roger that Bravo One Zero." Lt. Colonel Simpson stopped and began looking down the callsigns on the roster. He needed a company to go and secure the route in for the USMC Recon platoon, led by Kruger. There was no point wasting Echo's helicopters or Charlie's special forces. Other companies were off duty catching up from doing the night shift and from what he could tell, the only company that was available for the job was actually the best one suited to doing it. A nice lot of heavy armour would definitely help secure the route back, and it wasn't likely they'd take any casualties in their big beasts. He picked up the radio to contact the Major. "Alpha One Zero, this is Neptune. I've got a deliberate tasking for you. Bravo are returning from their recon patrol and I need you and your armour to go out and secure the route back for them. Do you copy? Over." |

"This is Alpha one Zero, roger. 1st Platoon to deal with it. Alpha out" Heffer emerged from the radio tent. "Allright Gentlemen! This is your lucky day. Colonel Simpson has decided that his heavy infantry is gonna do what they do best!" Several deep breaths were taken down the rank of the platoon. "That's right! You have trained in brick city for 1 month, knowing every detail of this way of conducting warfare!" The young men were smiling. Heffer loved doing this to them. "You are going on an escort mission!" Sighs and moans could be heard as a dozen evil looks were directed towards the major. "And not just any escort mission men! We will secure a road for the mighty Humvees of the recon boys!" A young private yelled out: "God damn you old man!" Some laughs came from the others and Heffer joined them. "Lieutenant Hyldig, move out and secure the road for the recon. Exfiltrate with them. Good luck" It didn't take long before 5 CV90's with their respective infantry squads rolled out of the camp. There they proceeded down the road towards Bravo. |
