Overkill or not,if orders are received to take off quiclky, you take off quickly. And lets say that 70 planes eventually took off, with the new planes that took off flfying CAP's and the ones low on fuel or ammo landing on the carriers. That makes sense to me. Oh and Neil,i dont care if you say its BS or not.It makes damn sense to me,and i frankly dont care if you dont. Plus,i posted and said the words "2 hours later".Does this say anything to you? We are not trying to have a go at you Cipher. Just saying, as Niel said, that if you dominate like this on every roll, the Argetines won't have an air-force to fight against anymore. For your own sake, you should make the next rolls a bit more even so you have something to do in future. You can keep the roll- 70 Vs 32 is fair enough I guess (although I doubt the 32 would stay to fight, they would just run away back to the mainland where you would also have to contend with SAM's) Carry on though. Just bear this in mind, and I say again we are not trying to have a go. Major General Carleton On board the HMS Ocean 0830 hours It was a bloody disaster. The media had already dubed the incident 'Black Friday'.Any morale boosts from the invasion of South Goergia and the recapture of the oil rigs had been completely cancelled out. Everyone had a sullen look on their face, a look of bitter disappointment. Carleton was still recieving the casualty figures. Of the 310 people on the Tonnerre, 287 French sailors were unaccounted for, all the armour from the ship had also been lost and only 3 of the 8 Merlins escaped. Of the 195 on the HMS Daring, 68 British sailors were unaccounted for, and of the 127 that were evacuated, 41 were wounded- most with severe burns and a few with shrapnel wounds. Helicopters were still hopelessley scaning the seas even after the boats went down in the hope of finding sailors in the water- but anyone in those stormy seas would have drowned or died of hypothermia by now. That made a total of 355 missings and 41 wounded. Add this to the 13 casualties hit by shrapnal from the other ships- 4 of whom were dead, and this truly was a disaster. But Carleton had no other choice but to put it to the back of his mind. He continued scanning his maps and looking at his notes, conferring with Colonel Sanders and his other aides. The plan had changed slightly thanks to this latest incident, but the operation was now finalised. The invasion of the Falkland Islands would begin at 0600 hours the next day. They could finally get off these stinking ships after these 2 long weeks. Edited by Finn 1939, Nov 4 2009, 10:35 AM.

Sorry,i misunderstood you guys. Please however, keep in mind that i UNDERSTAND YOU ARE NOT having a go at me (please dont say it twice Finn,i got your point mate. Do not worry Finn, the Argentines have more planes at the mainland (and their most advanced ones-like the SU-35).Losing 32 planes is scratching them.
I will,do not worry.I will also try and make the rolls ever more......ermm........even. Back to the topic, ill take it into consideration. Sergeant John Liontis Greco-English Apache group HMS Ocean The show of the 2 ships sinking to the bottom of the Atlantic ocean really put a sad face on Liontis. However,he would get his chance for revenge tommorow, where he will finally see some action. For 72 and a half hours,he has been staying on the top of the Ocean, with British and Greek Apache crews.Being bored, being tired, being seasick, the "disaster of rain" really soberted him. He had 1 Apache Longbow, with other 11 being Greek and the rest beiung British Westand Apaches. The CO,Colonel Stefanos Papagioannou, was personally watching the oiperation and he waitlessly waited for the operation to begin. He had to survive.Ortherwise,1 Apache would be destoyed,he and his crew will be deciomated and a girfriend of his will remain alone. |

Captain Jones Razor 1, Pathfinder Platoon Foul Bay, Falkland Islands 08:57 hours ------------------------------------------------------ "Roger that Ocean. H-hour is 06:00 hours tomorrow. Anything else? Over." "Negative Razor 1. Same orders as before. Over and Out." Jones put the radio back in his bergen and shoved it to the back of the OP. He shook Sgt. Moran awake, who had been sleeping since the battle at sea had ended and the fires had all but burned out. The Captain had tried to sleep but he couldn't, he was entranced by the dancing flames on the horizon and the smoke tinged sky, that seemed all to ominous a warning of this war. That things would only get worse before they got better, and before they got better many more soldiers old and young would die in this god-forsaken corner of the world. Where the number of penguins on the island outnumbered the number of people who lived there. "Moran, it's 9 time for us to be on stag," Jones said. He crawled up to the front of the OP where Thompson and Richmond were still on watch, scanning the immediate area for any signs of enemy activity. "Sergeant, Corporal. You both get some rest now, me and Moran will take over till midday. C'mon get your heads down while we have the chance," Jones ordered. Once they were out the way, he took over the spotting position and began observing through the high power binoculars while Moran lay down next to him with the sniper rifle. They had been laying there for around 20 minutes when they heard the sound of vehicles engines in the distance. 1-3: 2 Mechanized Companies of Argentine conscripts: 250 soldiers, 15 M113 APC's and 6 TAM MBT's. 4-7: 1 Mechanized Company of Argentine Conscripts: 120 soldiers, 9 M113 APC's and 4 TAM MBT's. 8-10: Mechanized Platoon of Argentine Conscripts: 35 soldiers, 3 M113 APC's. Captain Jones Razor 1, Pathfinder Platoon Foul Bay, Falkland Islands 09:25 hours ------------------------------------------------------ The M113's tracked down onto the beaches where they halted in a line and the Argentine soldiers filed out, milling around the beach casually as if there wasn't a war on. Some of the officers gathered round with binoculars and began surveying the landscape and then the ocean horizon. Orders were given and the soldiers fanned out walking along the beach, although it didn't really seem like they were at all on guard or cautious of enemy movement. Then again as far as they were concerned the only British troops were out at sea. "Ocean this is Razor 1. Come in. Over." "Roger that Razor 1. Go on. Over." "Ocean, we have positive sightings on enemy troop movements on the beach. 35 soldiers transported by 3 APC's. Do you copy? Over." "Razor 1, I copy solid on all. What is their status? Over." "They're not on alert Ocean. They don't seem to be setting up a permanent base. Please advise, Over." "Razor 1. I want you to hold your current position and continue to observe. Contact if anything happens. Over." "Roger that Ocean. Razor 1 out." They continue to watch for the next 30 minutes. 1-3: The rest of the Mechanized Battalion arrives. 850 soldiers. 24 M113 APC's and 12 TAM MBT's. 4-7: 2 Platoons and another Company arrive. 250 soldiers. 12 APC's and 6 MBT's. 8-10: The Platoon boards the M113's and leaves the area, heading North. You rolled a: 6! |

Captain Jones Razor 1, Pathfinder Platoon Foul Bay, Falkland Islands 09:50 hours ------------------------------------------------ "Ocean, this is Razor 1 and I have some bad news. Over." "Roger that. Details? Over." "We have. 2 companies of Mechanized Infantry, with around 250 soldiers, 12 APC's and 6 MBT's. Over." "I copy those numbers Razor. Do they have any SAM's or AA or AAA with them? Over." "Negative Ocean. They are setting up Beach Defences. Concertina Wire along the beach, and they're constructing MG nests and tank ditches on the slopes above the beach. Looks like they're expecting an assault by sea. Over." "Roger that. Beach defences will not prove a problem to our aerial landings, but if any AA equipment turns up you must notify us immediately. Do you copy? Over." "Copy that. Are we to remain in position? Over." "Affirmative. We may be calling on you to help with preliminary airstrikes or naval bombardments tonight, but not before then. Stay alert. Over." "Roger that Ocean. Razor 1 out." |

General Asher HMS Prince of Wales Ops Room ----------------------------------------- "Air Marshall Hammond, glad you made it safe. Please take a seat," Asher said, sitting opposite Hammond. "Thankyou General. What is it you wish to discuss with me?" Asher picked up a file from the table next to him, checked its contents and then handed it over to the senior RAF officer. Who's eyes glinted as he read through the intelligence brief. "As you can Hammond. The Argies are transporting plenty of fuel and equipment over to San Carlos from Port Stanley. Its a 50 plus vehicle convoy. 4 Fuel tankers in the middle. 12 trucks containing enough food and ammunition for a week's intensive fighting. 15 Panhard AML 90 light armored cars. 8 Humvees containing around 30 Marines heading to reinforce the San Carlos defensive position. An escort of 4 TAM tanks and 6 M113 APC's. Also there are 5 Ford M151A2 MUTT jeeps, one of which we believe to contain an Argentine Colonel going to command the defense of San Carlos. As you can see this is an important convoy to say the least." Hammond nodded thoughtfully. "Yes General I can see that. My question is... What do you want me to do about it?" "I want you to send some F-35's on a stealth air raid to take out the whole convoy. We don't know if there will be Argentine aircraft flying CAP, so you're going to have to be careful. It's up to you how many planes you send and with what load-outs. That's your area of expertise. Any questions?" "No General. I understand our mission," said Hammond. "Very well. Dismissed." |
