Major Vaughn Briefing room. HMS Albion The last fe people came in. Air Marshall Hammon was one of them. "Good of you to join us sir. Alright listen up people. This is how we're going to do this. C squadron will generally be controlling the show here since they're at full capacity at the moment whilst quater of B and 1/5th of A are in the infirmiry being ill." sighed Vaughn. A chuckle went up from the crowd. "Pathfinders. You'll be filling out spaces from B mostly. The SBS are to split up into 4 teams and infiltrate and disable all potential AA & AAA sites on the 4 main rigs. These 4 are the largest and intel have picked up potential AA sites on them." The Major turned to face Fletcher. "Please don't be surprised sir if you find AA sites on all of them. It wouldn't be the first time intel were wrong." grinned Vaughn. He turned to face the rest of the crowd. "SBS forces will infiltrate via Zodiac's. Once the AA sites are clear. Merlins will drop off the pathfinders and SAS. I'll need 7 Merlins for 7 teams. 4 for Alpha and 3 for Bravo. The Air drops will be syncronised. Any questions?" |

Admiral Philippe de Chabot Commander of Battle Fleet Antarctica onboard the Charles de Gaulle Admiral de Chabot watched the Battle Fleet slowly plowing through the increasingly rougher seas. It had been a long journey south from the staging point outside of Portugal. And the stop over at different islands on the way for the need to refuel was irritating at least. de Chabot wasnt known as a patient man or from being a very likeable person. He wasnt the media role model, having spent most of his career being overlooked due to the fact that he told what he felt. Not the person you want representing the French Navy. But when people needed results, they usually called him. Because under the tough and unlikable exterior was what could best be described as a strategic genius. A lector at several French Naval schools, head of European Naval Department at the SAFE initiative by the EU in 2009-2010. And most importantly, though no one would ever release this information, he had served as the head of OpFor during a simulated naval attack on pirate bases in Somalia. Using suicide motor boats and other small craft, he had destroyed 2 out of 5 of the landing ships and even damaged a british carrier. The information that the joint-eu task forces were vulnerable to technollogically insuperior foes would have been bad news for the EU. So they left that part out. But a couple of months ago, when the argies were threatening invasion, de Chabot had been flown to London where he accurately pictured how and when the argentinians would take the islands. He had then been placed in charge of the gathered battle Fleet, having to hear large protests from the Brits. They had been given overall command of the task force to calm them, but they still didnt like having some of their navy ships under command of a "bloody frenchie" as the British Minister of Defence had so lovely called de Chabot during the announcement in Bruxelles. He still had some problems with the captains of some of the british ships, but they would be brought in line later. de Chabot returned to his chair where he looked over the maps again, looking for anything he hadnt spotted during the early briefings. |

Hammond left the Briefing room, with the plan well undertsood and put up in his mind.He spoent an hour to familirise himself with the Ship, because for the time broing,he will transmit his orders there. 1 hour later,he immiditaley,he orered 7 out of the 8 Merlins onboard the HMS Abion to be redy to insert the spec ops.The better their condition, the better the situation will be. Hopefully, the Argies will be caught off guard and all would go well, with no losses whatsoever. He also hoped that the "bloody frechie" would make sure the ships remain as they are....... Major Vaughn HMS Albion. Flight deck The men of Alpha (or what was left of them) slowly shuffled towards the Merlins. They were going to enjoy this. "So what squadron are you from Captain?" asked Vaughn to a chap by the name of Thomason. "15th sir. I got deployed with them after most of my unit was wiped out by the North Korean army in Kaesong." grinned Thomason. "Kaesong eh? I was there. I was a liason officer with the 7th armoured during the assault. Those bastards are crazy!" laughed Vaughn. "OI! I heard that you wise cracking arsehole!" shouted Cpt Reynolds who was talking to some of his men near the back of the ship. The men of Alpha and Bravo were laughing all the way to the boarding ramps of the Merlins. The pilot of Vaughns aircraft began talking. "Ladies and gentlemen. This is your pilot speaking. My name is Wing Commander Legg. I shall be your pilot for today. Weather seems to be stable for the moment. But i ask you to please keep your trays in their upright locked positions and that you stay seated until we reach the AO. Thankyou for choosing to fly with RAF airways and we hope you have a pleasant flight." |

Major General Carleton HMS Ocean, Command Room Carleton looked down at his maps. He had just spent the last two hours with his advisor's going over the final preparations for the initial stages of Operation Black Gold. He was worried, but that was usually the case when you had the lives of thousands of men under your command. He remembered back to 1982. He was just starting his military career back then and missed out on the First Falklands War, instead spending most of his time in Northern Ireland. One thing he was sure of however, was that in 1982 Britain got lucky. This time the Argies will have learned from their previous mistakes and would be fully prepared to meet the British head on. Intel had already sighted two Argie air-bases on the islands themselves, a luxury they didn't have in 1982, a luxury that would cause his men a lot of trouble. This time round they would also be prepared to meet the British on the beaches- last time they made the mistake of allowing them to gain a secure foothold on the islands. He was sure he wouldn't be given the same opportunity to do so again. Still, he had more immediate problems. South Georgia had to be retaken along with the Oil Rigs situated to the North of the Falkland Islands. He had assigned 45 Commando to retake South Georgia. He wasn't worried and had full confidence in them, as long as the intel wasn't wrong. He and his advisor's were expecting some casualties, but the recapture of the island would prove an early morale boost. He was more worried about the Rigs. He had assigned all the Spec Op's forces under his disposal to secure the Rigs completely in-tact. It was a tricky operation, having to land on board a small platform in the middle of rough Atlantic seas and then fight in very confined quarters. However, they were some of them best soldiers on planet earth and although he expected them to take some casualties, they would hopefully get the job done. He turned back to his maps and continued planning the liberation of the Falklands themselves. After all, that was why they were here. Edited by Finn 1939, Oct 31 2009, 03:08 PM.

General Asher Commander of Falklands Task Force (FTF) HMS Prince of Wales -------------------------------------------------------------------- General Asher stood over the map in the Ops Room of the Prince of Wales, tracing the position of the fleet with his fingers, imagining in his mind how it looked. His finger stopped on HMS Albion, where at this moment the Merlin helicopters were readying to take off for the Oil Rig Operation. Codename: Operation Pipeline. The Special Forces commanded by Major Vaughn, along with the Pathfinder's commanded by Captain McDowall would soon be landing on the platforms and securing the rigs. It was not really of major strategic value, except it provided a look-out for the Argentines but it mainly served as an ideological symbol. This is what the Argies had taken from them and this is what they were here to get back. "General Asher," said the FTF Chief Operations Officer; Lt. Colonel Porter. He saluted and then held out a piece of paper. "What's this?" Asher replied curtly. Notorious for his lack of patience and not even bothering to read it. "It's the final clearance forms for Operation Pipeline. Needs to be signed by you before the men are weapons free," Porter said quickly. "Very well," he said, signing the paper. "Thankyou sir," he said saluting and then walking back to his station. Before he got ten feet Asher called out to him. "Lt. Colonel. One last thing; get a message to Air Marshal Hammond. Tell him to put some aircraft on standby, some F-35's or Rafales. If the Argies on the rigs alert their air force, they might well send some aircraft to intercept the choppers and the last thing we need is for them to be shot down, losing three squadrons of Special Forces. Tell him he's got 15 minutes to have those birds on the flight deck ready to go, fueled and armed for Air to Air combat." "Very good sir," nodded Porter. Asher turned back to the map. This time he was going to be prepared. This wasn't going to be another Korea. There was a reason he'd been relieved of command back then, and he wasn't going to make the same mistakes again. This time he would be victorious. |

Major Brooklaw, SBS Zodiac assault craft next to rig no.1 "20 seconds until contact!" yelled Brroklaw over the noise of the engine. The SBS had all been tasked to the 4 main rigs. This was what they excelled at. Not bloody deserts in A-stahn. The noise of multiple guns cocking echoed over the noise of the engine. MP5's, UMP45's, 552 Commando's even a SMAW. The spec ops had free roam of the expeditionary force's armoury. "10 seconds!" the trooper with the SMAW had orders to target and destroy the SAM on the landing pad before they entered the rig. "5 seconds! Fire the rocket Jeeves!" The rocket left it's capsule and sped off into the fog. "Clear the boat! For King and Country! CHARGGGGGGGGEEEEEEE!!!!!!" bellowed Brooklaw. 1-3 the SAM is destroyed. Reports of all the other SAM's on the other rigs being neutralised come in. 4-7 SAM is survives. But the other 3 are destroyed. 8-10 No SAM's are destroyed. You rolled a: 3! |

Major Vaughn, 22nd SAS (Alpha) Oil rig No.2 The sound of the Rolls Royce engines intensified as the Merlin swung round for the attack. The flaming wreck of a SAM piece was clearly visible from the ramp. Flickers of light marked the locations of SBS members slowly punching a hole through the conscript defence. "Only a platoon you say? Seems a bit much to send spec ops to take the rigs?" commented Thomason. "Aye. But you can't seriously tell me that you want those Para bastards stealing all the glory. Marines and Paras should learn their place in the world." yelled Vaughn. "where's that sir?" asked Thomason. "At the back of the line with the rest of the tossers!" laughed Vaughn. The Merlin touched down and the SAS jumped off. A squad of pathfinders were right behind them. The shooting was intense. The Argies had dug in around the control room. Vaughn watched as two pathfinders were cut down by a lucky burst of fire from a 30 cal. With a few quick hand signals Vaughn ordered for a 3 man assault on the building with flashbangs. The team took position and waited for everyone else. As one. the SBS, SAS and pathfinders charged. 1-3 The charge works spectacuarly. The rig is taken with 3 casualties. 4-7 The rig is taken. But 9 soldiers fell taking it. 8-10 The charge fails. 12 men are cut down. You rolled a: 7! |
