The land rovers drove away from the RPG and evaded impact. The rear-mounted MG of the land rover lit up the bleeding insurgent. "That was a close one, mate," said Lieutenant McAleese to Sergeant Taylor. "Alright, let's start shelling the target buildings, shall we lads?" The land rovers equipped with the MK19 GL drove forward and began shelling the target building, increasing the damage of the mortar rounds falling on top of the building as well. "What a sight," mumbled Lieutenant McAleese. "Front-mounted MG rovers will neutralize any tangos that try to run out of the target building's exit points!" Soon, tangos began running out of the crippling building, only to be pulverized by the .50 browning calibur rounds of the machine guns. The building soon collapsed and rain of mortar rounds ceased. After 15 seconds, the mortar rounds began to rain again on the next target building. The land rovers began moving in and soon the building collapsed. "Corporal Laurence, drive your land rover to Blue One's position and give them a lift back here," ordered Lieutenant Mcaleese as the firing sustained. The Corporal acknowledged and began driving forward to the Major's position. The final target building was down and Majal was clear of insurgents. Major Black and his patrol began heading downstairs, leaving a grenade next to the mortar to destroy it and its ammunitions. The patrol exits the building and got on the land rover. "Red One, sit-rep," radioed Major Black. "All remaining target biuldings and insurgents neutralized. Majal is ours," radioed Lieutenant McAleese as he got out of the land rover. "Copy that. I'll see you shortly. You lads did one hell of a job today," radioed Major Black. "Golf-One-Zero to all forces, Fort Knox, I say again Fort Knox. Golf-One-Zero awaiting orders, over." The land rover drove to meet up with the rest of the patrols. Edited by TG Bravo 2 Zero, Aug 30 2009, 11:39 AM.

Bjarke walked into the largest of the southern compounds, it was in there Lieutenant Skalle had his command post for 3rd Platoon. From there he could see the roadblock held by 3rd Squad, and 2nd Squad near the river. To the north, 2nd Platoon were also patrolling the river, but they were mostly focused on the battles to the north. They couldnt fire out of fear for creating a blue on blue, but it was getting frustrating just sitting here. And finally to the west, 1st Platoon was holding their flank and also it was there Bjarke had his CP. It was starting to get light, and it would be only be a couple of hours before Delta would arrive with the tanks. Then they could do the dirty work of guarding, but for now Charlie was stuck here. A chinook had picked up Private Zielinski and the 4 Taliban prisoners and flew back to bastion. So Bjarke was carefree at the moment. Just waiting for the battle in the north to stop, or for Delta and the engineers to arrive. |

Lt. Colonel Robinson had been up all night and hadn't slept, watching the whole battle play out from the video feed of a Nimrod Spy Plane circling high above the battlefield. The operation had gone relatively smoothly, apart from the hot LZ Charlie Company had landed in and the few wounded Alpha had, it seemed like all had gone to plan. Golf had given the Fort Knox signal not too long ago and with Alpha finally securing the Northern compounds, it seemed like the situation was secure. The commander checked his watch; 05:30. One thing was for sure it had been a long operation. Light was just beginning to spill through the windows of the command post in Lashkar Gah as the sun emerged slightly over the horizon. It was going to be a relatively cool day by Afghan standards, with plenty of clouds in the sky it seemed they wouldn't be exposed to the full glare of the blazing sun. That was good news. Maybe the engineers would be able to have a basic FOB constructed by the end of the day. Just a perimeter of Hesco Bastion and maybe a fairly solid metal gate, and if they were extremely lucky they could get some prefab accommodation for the lads. However, it was more likely they'd be living out of their vehicles or tents for the next few days. Although that largely depended on the state of the compounds Charlie had secured. A voice roused him from his deep thought. "Sir, the Captain of the Engineer Company just radioed in. He says that his men are ready to go now and he doesn't mind heading in at the same time as the Mech and Armor reaches the positions. He wants to know if your ok with that?" Bloody Brave men. I ask them to be ready for 11 and they're here at 6, even though fighting might start again they want to start their work. Bloody Brave, he thought to himself. "Well if he's prepared to start even with the current danger, then I won't say no. Yeah, tell him to go ahead to RV with Charlie at the FOB location. Though if he's going to be there soon, I better light a fire under the supports arses," Robinson said grining. "Pass me the comms." "Delta One Zero, this is Sunray. The engineers are on route right now and will be at the FOB location in 30 minutes, I repeat Three-Zero minutes. I want you to leave 4 APC's at Charlie's location to guard the FOB area, along with 4 of X-ray's tanks. Then leave another 4 APC's at Majal along with 6 tanks, and finally the rest of your men along with the remaining 2 tanks will go and help safeguard bridge 1 with Alpha One Zero. Do you copy on all of that? Over." "Charlie One Zero, this is Sunray. Be advised you relief force and the engineers are on route to your position now. ETA 30 minutes. Do you copy? Over." |

"Copy that Sunray" They were nearing the compounds to the south of Charlie's position. It had been a long ride, 1 of the APC's almost ended up in a canal- driving in the dark can do wanders. They also had to stop twice while IED's were clear. But all in all, it wasn't too bad- he had had worse journeys. He looked to his West and saw X-Ray's tanks rolling in. They hadn't encountered any trouble so far, and it looked like it would remain that way. They rolled towards the compounds on route to Charlie's positions. "Alpha company, move towards your designated positions" 3 of the Warriors, along with 3 of the Bulldog APC's disembarked to the West of the village- Giles was with them. They would provide suppressing fire if anything went down, and they would clear the Western buildings. 1 Warrior and 3 Bulldogs drove into the town itself and got to clearing the compounds 1-8= No resistance. Compounds all but abandoned 9-10= Small arms fire encountered You rolled a: 7! |

"This is Charlie one zero, roger three zero minutes. out"* Bjarke ordered his men to start removing the roadblocks, it had been undramatic to say the least. They had stopped 2 guys on a motorbike and a single vehicle. Seemed like Taliban didnt want this town back so bad. He looked at the two southern compounds, probably those they would use. One of them had a large hole in the wall from an AT-4, but other than that, both are in a good state. Then he could hear the vehicle humming from the recognisable british APC's |

The Vikings moved their way systematically through the compounds. The village was quickly cleared and everyone was soon back in their vehicles. It looked like the villagers had packed up and left in a hurry. "Sunray, this is Delta-One-Zero. The compounds to the south of Charlie-One-Zeros position are clear and we are ready to move on. Over.". "Right A-Coy, everyone back in, proceed with the plan" The vehicles were soon setting off again. It only took 10 minutes to reach Charlie's positions. They were Danes, and they looked happy to see them, no doubt glad the armour had finally rolled in and they could get off guard duty and get some rest. Giles got out and one of the Danes shouted something he couldn't understand in his direction, followed by a few laughs. He looked around and saw the damage from Charlie's recent encounter. "X-Ray, this is Delta-One-Zero. Leave 4 of you Scimitars here with Charlie. Over. A-Coy, you know what to do." 1 Warrior and 3 Bulldog APC's remained with Charlie, and Giles and the rest were soon on their way to the town. He got out there and most of his men disembarked, along with 6 of the Scimitars. The remaining 2 Warrior's containing 3rd Section, 2nd Platoon continued onto the bridge with the remains of X-Ray. It had been a highly successful mission. They had suffered no casualties. Hell, they hadn't even come under fire. He breathed a sign of relief and went off to find Bravo's leader. The danes looked at the newly arrived brits. They couldnt quite determine wether they were Tubes or Fun. They had ignored Private Lyllofs shout at them for arriving late for the battle, so perhaps they were serious. Might too serious. In any case, they quickly set up a defensive position around the compounds, and their armour were a welcome sight in any case. However, the Hussars were starting to miss their Mercedes'. Bjarke hadnt been informed when and how they would arrive, and he was looking forward to it. Getting their Mg3's and mobility back. The british light tanks didnt look like much. Well, in their defense Bjarke and the Hussars had spend most of their time with armour support from the danish Leopard 2 MBT's. These were light tanks, and probably would do their job well enough. But for now, the brits were sticking mostly to themselves, leaving the danes to relax after their 4 hour guard duty. Bjarke only closed his eyes for a short time, before he could hear some British guy asking for the danes commanding officer. Said he was the enginner commander, Bjarke stood up grabbed his Rifle and threw some water in his face, realising he had black spot on his helmet where a bullet might have impacted. The DZ must have had been hotter than he initially thought. But anyway, he walked out to the British officer and told him he was in charge. |
