Bjarke saw the explosion to the west. Charlie had all sit tense in Majal, hoping the best from the Brits.
Then Bjarke heard the report to command over the radio.

Things were getting messy, and Bjarke told 3rd Platoon to prepare as a QRF in case Delta needed it.

2 men of 2nd Platoon had been killed, and 1 had lost his leg below the knee. Giles got onto the radio trying to remain cool:

"Sunray, this is Delta-One. We have a man down and 2 KIA. I repeat, we have a man down and 2 KIA. Requesting medevac, over"

Giles looked around. His men kept up the fire, although they looked a little disheartened.

"Who's been hit?" shouted a young Cpl.

"It doesn't bloody matter. Just keep firing"

And they did. He couldn't have asked more from them.

"Roger that Delta, Chinook on its way. ETA 15 minutes. Also a Harrier, callsign Topman is on its way to help you out. ETA 5 minutes. Over."

Topman comes over the radio.

"This is Topman, to Delta. I heard you need some help. Feed me co-ordinates and type of fire needed. OVer."

The men were all relieved to here the pilots voice come on line. The fire control operator was busy feeding in co-ordinates and looking through his small screen at what the Harrier could see. The pilot soon said he could see it, and a 500Ib JDAM was requested.

"You sure thats the right compounds?"

"Yes sir, certain"

"Alright then, do it"

The Harrier sweeped in low and dropped the bomb. He heard the men of 1st Platoon shout and cheer, taunting Terry.

1-4= Only withering fire remains from the compounds
5-8= The remaining Taliban flee
9-10= Fire continues to pour out from the compounds

The Harrier swept in low for a second run before unleashing a second 500lb bomb. Terry begins a withdrawal to the east. The FCO thanked the Harrier pilot.

"Sunray, this is Delta-One. Chinook is clear to land. Over"

1st Platoon continued to fire on the retreating Taliban. His men had stopped taunting them- instead they were worried about the casualty from 2nd. It was a Cpl.Comton- a quiet but battle hardened bloke. The major had been with him for years.

A few minutes later, the 2 bodies and Compton were loaded on the Chinook and on their way to Bastion.

Giles ordered 3rd Platoon to bring the Mastiff's round to join the other three to the East. Alpha got on board and made their way back to the FOB without anymore incident. It was a tough fight, and all the men were quiet, remembering their fallen comrades and worrying about Compton. The two dead were Pvt. Rabuka, a Fijian who was on his first tour, and Pvt.Robins, another veteran. They would be greatly missed.

Giles estimated that they had killed anywhere from 10-16 Taliban. But he knew out here it wasn't about body counts. Chances are that Rafal Jazad was a Taliban sympathizer, or even a Taliban himself. You could never tell.

Still, at least some good had come from the operation. They had let the Taliban know that they had arrived in full force.

Bjarke debriefed his men on the british casulties.
It didnt lift the mood for the Danes who had seen civilian casulties, and now heard friends and allies had been killed.

They continued for another hour or so, before finally opening up for traffic again.
Soon, the city got back to normal the car bomb already forgotten.

The men of Charlie were getting tired, and Bjarke got the garrison force down to one platoon. 1st and 2nd, who had garrisoned the town at day were sent back to the FOB, meanwhile 3rd Platoon, who had been the reserve platoon, took up position for the night.

Bjarke decided to go back to the FOB alongside 1st and 2nd Platoon, leaving Lieutenant Skalle in charge of the town.

A military courier ran to the land rover, gasping for air.

"Major...Major Black. I have...an evelope for you..from Lieutenant Colonel Robinson," gasped the courier as he handed the envelope to the Major.

"Thank you lad. Carry on," replied Major Black.

Major Black opened the envelope and took out a folder containing information on the next mission. Black began skimming through the documents and then closed it.

"McAleese, rally the men back here at the FOB. I want them combat ready by 0000 hours. They are to be equipped with sound suppressed weapons and NVGs," ordered Major Black.

Lieutenant McAleese acknowledged the order and Major Black got out of the vehicle. The two land rovers began driving away from the FOB to form up with the rest of the patrols in G Squadron at Majal.

Robinson felt awful. For the second time in just a few days, men had died under his command and with the two new dead and one seriously wounded from Delta's Op, he began to think he should be more conservative in the operations.

No, you can't think about it like that, he told himself. The only way to beat them is to be agressive.

"Sir, its time to send out another fighting patrol."

Robinson turned around to face his assistant and then walked over to the map in the command tent. He scanned the area and realised that the North of Bridge one on the Western side of the river was still unexplored.

"Lieutenant, who's on the cycle for Bridge 1?"

"Alpha Company, sir."

"Good pass me that radio."

The commander picked up the set and dialled in the frequency.

"Alpha One Zero, this is Sunray. I need you to send half your men on a patrol to the north, to check out the terrain and any compounds that might contain civilians or hostiles. Do you copy? Over."

Redford jumped out the jackal armoured vehicle they were leaving the trucks and some of the troops at bridge 1 he left the younger lads as he had heard there was a 3 KIA so he wanted the younger lads safe however Wilkes had persisted the boy was like a bloody terrier chomping at the bit. It wouldnt take long to walk to the green zone its only a few miles away,

"Be aware guys these waters be riddles with the bad fish" Corpral Thomas said in his best fisherman accent Wilkes laughed he was on point simply cause he wouldnt let anyone else go up.

The green zone was hell tonnes of irragation ditches for the Taliban to crawl through.

"Sir I see somthing." Wilkes pointed to there front

1-3: Its civilain cars moving at a high rate of speed

4-7: Its multiple cars moving at a high rate of speed

8-10: Its a Dicker in the back of Pickup
