@DNAz: I made the game so you can choose a unit from there, and a unit list you can choose from is there. Here is the link to the new game http://s1.zetaboards.com/Knights_Europa/topic/2077373/1/ @wookie: Seriously? you wanna go there? 1st of all, you use Market Garden as a thing against the 1st airborne. Should we start talking about american parachute cock ups? okay then lets go. How about the fact that during Normandy, the British landing was the only thing remotely close to a succes. The american paratroopers failed to regroup and some where even seperated from their units for several days. Or how about american pilots? A large dosis of the British Glider troops that landed on Italy drowned because their american pilots were afraid to fly into the AA fire and therefore released them too early. Oh, and did i mention that the heavy AA fire was coming from AMERICAN ships that thought the transports and gliders were bombers? And how about the fact that it is because the British made Horsa glider that the 101st could even make good landings during Market Garden? Or that it was the 101st who sat passively meanwhile they didnt try at all to link up with the 1st Airborne (who was deeper into enemy territory than the 101st) |

Are you joking? The 101st couldn't because they couldn't get passed a bridge that was overloaded with German Resistance |

And Comminsa,as andcus siad, you CANT compare an air assault division with an airborne division. The 101st have a long histry, have been decorated the most, fought in Vietnam (where the 82nd was usless there).Look, the 1-01st has NOTHING to do with the 82nd. Not to insult you. Edited by CipherTheCommadant, Aug 5 2009, 10:18 AM.

How about it was the 1st British Airborne and the Polish Airborne brigade who took the brunt of the attack? They faced 2(!) German Elite Panzer Divisions (elite veterans from nearly all german theatres) And seriously, dont you blame the 30th Corps. They advanced to the 101st Airborne zone, but couldnt cross on schedule because they HADNT captured the bridge. When they finally got across (two day delay) They reached the 82nd's zone, to find out that they HADNT captured the bridge. And when they tried to mount up for an attack towards the Arnhem bridge, they couldnt call on their fresh reserves, because they had been busy protecting the 101st. |

^^^True. Although TBH, I wouldn't put it down to the 101st, 82nds and XXX Corps failures, but more an extreme failure in intelligence gathering leading up to the Operation, bad luck (It was only by chance that the Elite Panzer Divisions were stationed there for RnR) and finally, due to our failure to listen to local resistance groups who had gathered all sorts of intelligence concerning more elite German forces moving in and the possibility of us encountering tanks. But Andcus is right, to use Operation Market Garden AGAINST the 1st Airborne is ludicrous and shows a lack of understanding of the whole operation. Andcus is also right in that the delays of taking the bridges that the 101st and 82nd were tasked to capture led to the 1st Airborne and Polish Airborne Brigade having to hold off a hell of a lot longer while completely surrounded. |

Yeh, its pretty sad, but it was the standard allied doctrine. They ignored most resistance groups (excluding the Maqouis and the Norwegian Resistance). Mainly because they didnt want the local resistances to gain power unless they were pro-allies (the SOE striked hard against Communist Resistance groups) |
