"Damn It!" Shouted Colonel Reynolds. "How am I supposed to use armour in terrain like this?" he asked out loud. "Colonel Richardson just droped a messge on the vox sir." comented Sgh Stammford. "He says that the South East is probably our best bet for operating in this country." "send a message back thanking him for the update." replied the Colonel. "and could someone please get on the horn to one of the infantry commanders! We're going to need infantry support all the way on this one." The Colonel looked at the map with growing dread. "How many of the 153 tanks are going to come home after this tour" he said quitely. |

Colonel Richardson briefed his Company Commanders first, before the hall filled with 700 young men. 700 young men who would be involved in probably what will be one of the bloodiest and hardest battles on the 21st Century. 700 young men, who, by the time this battle was over, would no longer number 700. He swallowed and began the briefing, pointing to the various maps on the projector and explaining their role, and everybody else's role. The Intel guys came in and told them a bit about the expected enemy force, terrain, weather, hard-points and objectives. Richardson repeated it for them to clarify. "Now make sure you learn this Operation off by heart- your life and everybody else's life counts on it". He was confident they would, they didn't call the Paras the 'Thinking mans army' for no reason. "Now gear-up. You have to be on permanent alert, this Op could begin at any time. Move out, and good luck lads" Just as everyone got up to leave, he called over the Pathfinders- his most elite men. "Captain Denton, you are to be under the command of Major Jensen of the Jægerkorps. They may look like a bit of a rabble, but believe me, when the bullets start flying you wouldn't want anyone else to be there. Now gear-up, and go to their barracks. The Major will brief you further" They got up and left without question. The Colonel spent the next few hours packing his gear. He was getting on, but he could still fight if it need be. Every person of every rank had to be able to fight, but he would most likely stay back from the fighting. But he had to prepared to fire his rifle at the end of the day- after all, they will be surrounded and in the midst of enemy territory. He made the final rounds to the Company Commanders, Major Carlton was busy getting his men to ship the heavy weapons into the crates, Major Peacock and Major Wilson were busy checking their mens kit and telling them to get some rest. He then retired back to his barracks, made him self a nice brew and got to bed. Edited by Finn 1939, Apr 6 2009, 06:07 PM.

After numerous suggestions from the commanders of the sections, Asher sent out a new message to update the commanders on the situations: Several things have come to my attention. The first is that Colonel Reynolds must bring his armor up from the South-East, closely followed by Colonel Leiper's infantry in the WIMIK vehicles. Also Colonel King, must send his marines up the river from the West in Rigid Raider boats to make their destination on time. The Para's and Jeagerkorps must secure the north to stop enemy reinforcements helping the garrison and calling in air strikes on vital positions. I suggest that half of Colonel Leiper's men ride in the Warrior APC's to lead the assault on the city, followed by the lighter armored land rovers. That is all men. |

Another 30 or so men entered the barrack. "Ah, the pathfinders. Good to see you here" Major Jensen walked around and shaked hands with each of them personally. "Okay, get your kit ready and assemble on the parade grounds outside ASAP" The 59 men left the Barrack and hustled outside. it was quiet inside now. "Silence before the storm" Jensen chuckled, half choked. He had been in the shit before. But this was different. Regular troops, regular war. Jensen walked around and collected the 29 Burgundy berets. And collected them in a large box which also held personal belongings. Jensen pulled his own beret from his pocket and placed it there along with a picture of his wife and kids. He then sealed it. The top of it the unit motto stood in big letters: Plus Esse Quam Simultatur. "More than meets the eye" Jensen said with pride. He picked up his M/96 and walked outside. The entire base was alive. Tanks, armoured vehicles and men running around in all kinds of places. Colonel Richardson was standing there too. In front of the unit. probably to guide them to their aircraft. A very loud tank commander could be heard yelling across the ground. Everybody was on edge. Jensen approached from the side, dropped his bags and saluted. The colonel returned it. Then the two men shook hands. Jensen was glad to have an experienced and understanding soldier as his superior. |

"So, how are we meant to keep tanks on standbye?" asked Captain little. "Do we fill them up with fuel and hope the commies get here before we run out?" "I'm sure the Field Marshall knows what he's doing captain." replied the Colonel. "Besides, aren't you meant to be with your squadron?" "Are, yes, about that. My squadron has deided that it would be fun to try and nick some of those beautiful machineguns from those spec ops units". said Little. "The last thing we need right now, is your squadron muckin up relations for us. Now go and get them back before Richardson, or the Jag commander get's them. otherwise i'll rename your tank the flying daffodil!" shouted the Colonel. The Captain immediately vacated the premeseis. "Ah well. What's the UN got me into this time?" the colonel asked himself. "All units power up. We're going on patrol. Squadrons Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie your with me." |

Colonel reynolds sat in the command chair of his Challenger and awaited the order to advance. He had his typical Commisar hat on which he had got from a store. The men said it looked good so he wore it. he could see Little chatrting to some of his men in delta squadron. "10 mins to go" said Sgh Stamford on the vox. "wait, wait. Orders came through sir. Mission Delayed, repeat mission delayed." "all units stand down" shouted the Colonel. "I'll have somone's head for this!" |

There were 7 C-17's, 95 fully equipped men per stick- plus the heavy equipment spread out on each plane. Bloody big buggers the Colonel thought to himself. He tried to put the thought of one of them being shot down, and him loosing most of a company to the back of his mind. They now had the time for the Operation, and all the men were pumped are ready to go. This was the first British Airborne Drop since World War 2, and they were some of the first into North Korea. A lot was resting on their soldiers. He went around, giving the men a last few words of encouragement- telling them to remember their training and reminding them of objectives. The Sun was setting as the Colonel stepped on his plane with all the other men, and thought of his family back home, before putting it all out of mind and concentrating on the mission. The plane took off, he looked out the window and saw the sun disappearing behind the horizon. The Koreans were in for a nasty shock. |
