Richardson watched from Hill 272 as the arty slammed into Kirk's position about a mile west of the bridge, and about 6 miles from Hill 272. Everyone cheered. Down at Bravo's position the ground shook.

Tureny counted 3 IFV's gone, as well as approximately 80 infantry and relayed that to Richardson.

Richardson radioed the arty.

"Thanks Lance 6. Good shooting"

That left about 420, and 7 IFVs. The arty had softened, but Bravo still had a hell of a fight ahead of them.

With the artillery fire raining down, Nielsø and his men took the time to relocate.
Large explosions were impacting below them.

"This is Nimrod-4, we have fallen back so we are closer to your mens positions. We will engage once you have opened fire."

Major Turney of Bravo received a radio call from Nielsø. The Jaegerkorps had set up positions just West of the river, ready to pick off Kirk as they approached.

Turney ordered his men to get ready, the Kirk were nearly within firing range. Bravo company had set up strong defensive positions on the east side of the bridge- barbed wire, heavy machine gun nests and slit trenches. The mortars and Javelins had been reloaded- they had only 10 missiles left, so they had to use them wisely. One platoon of 50 had moved about a 100m south of the bridge to get another firing angle on the attacks, and one platoon was on the west side, ready to retreat back when the enemy got too close. Turney was on the east side with the heavy defenses.

They had roughly 420 krik, as well as 7 IFV's approaching. His men were pumped and ready to go, and he muttered a few final words on encouragement through the radio.

Meanwhile, on route A7, Charlie was still trying to deal with the casualties. Richardson had ordered them to send a platoon to the shallow point which was about 3 miles west of their permission. The platoon had speed marched their way there- and were exhausted by the time they reached the position. If any more Kirk came from the North, they would be cut off. Lt. Aru had his men set up defensive positions. They had only 2 heavy machine guns- it was all Charlie could spare. They also had a single Javelin launcher with 3 missiles. Aru just prayed Kirk didn't come their way.

Back at Bravo, they spotted about 100 of the kirk, plus 3 IFV's divert towards the north. Turney got on the radio to Aru
"Lieutenant, you have about 100 Kirk plus 3 IFV's headed your way. ETA, 1 hour."

The Kirk were in firing range. The platoon on the west side of the bridge opened up, and started calling in the mortars. The heavy machine guns on the east side also opened up.

1-3= A wave of Kirk fall, and their advance is slowed
4-7= Many Kirk fall, and 1 IFV is immobilized
8-10= Little damage done.

2nd Platoon opened up, sending a wave of Kirk falling. The mortars rained hell on the incoming Kirk who were only a few hundred meters away. The Kirk ran for cover, slowing their advance. The 4 IFV's opened up on 2nd.

2 men were instantly killed, and another wounded.

1st Platoon, led by Major Turney locked on the Javelins. They had 10 missiles- but only 4 targets.

The first 4 missiles were launched:

1-3= 1 IFV destroyed
4-7= 2 IFV's destroyed
8-10= All the IFV's go up in flames

(I have decided to include a Non-playable USMC infantry battalion into the game, so that we have an infantry force now Neil has left)

"This is Sunray, to all units. The USA are sending us a battalion of USMC Force Recon soldiers, who are going to be our mobile infantry tracking around in armored Humvees and being our main infantry force. Also Hawk 6, there is a supply drop coming to Bravo's position, will be dropped behind their position around 100 meters back. Your POW's will have to be taken back later, we can't led any choppers with this amount of fire. Over."

Asher finished the transmission and saw the USMC creating a dust cloud, 200 vehicles all moving as one and then they split with half of them heading into the city to relieve the Desert Rats inside and the other half tracking round the city to link up with the Para's at the rear. He hoped they would make the difference in keeping the situation stable, otherwise the tide of battle may have changed very quickly.

"Roger that Sunray, thanks for the drop"

Major.Turney ordered 3rd platoon to go grab the supplies- they were defending just south of the bridge and were not needed at the moment "And make it snappy!!" he shouted through the radio

Bravo watched as all 4 IFV's went up in flames. That left about 300 Kirk. The platoon west of the bridge were still laying down the fire, although they were slowly being suppressed.

"Keep it up Lieutenant!!!" Turney screamed through the mike. "Don't fall back just yet- wait for the order!!!!"

The battle continued to rage. The platoon were in trouble and started taking casualties:

1-3= 4 dead, 7 wounded
5-7= 2 dead, 5 wounded
8-10= 1 dead, 1 wounded

"Shit!!!" shouted Turney as reports of man down came through the radios.

That was 6 dead and 8 wounded. 8 wounded that needed to be brought back across the bridge under heavy fire. To make matters worse, the Kirk were closing in.

"Lieutenant, get your arse back across that bridge- wounded first!!!". He screamed to first and third (Who have only just returned from the supply drop) to lay down heavy suppressing fire.

The platoon attempt to get back across the bridge:

1-3= The platoon take many more casualties getting back across
4-7= The platoon safely make it back across, with only a few more casualties
8-10= The platoon make it back across with no more casualties.

2nd Platoon make it back across the bridge as the Kirk over-run their old positions. They suffer 2 more wounded on the way.

The Lt. tells of a how a brave Sgt (One of the wounded) remained on the other side to cover their retreat, telling them they would only slow them down.

Turney looked through his goggles- he sees the Sgt take out several Kirk, before being bayoneted to death. Turney looks away. It was Sgt.Stroud. He made an note to recommend him for the VC.

That left 7 dead and 10 wounded. However, many of the Kirk had been mown down.

Further up north, Lt.Eru spots the approaching Kirk. He tells his men to take up positions. There was about 100 plus 3 IFV's. They had only 3 missiles left for the Javelins- so everyone had to count. The platoon opened up:

1-3= Only 1 IFV destroyed
4-7= All 3 IFV's destroyed
8-10= Only 2 IFV's destroyed

Lt.Eru's platoon cheered as the IFV's went up into flames.

Richardson heard the reports of the battle. The Javelin truly is an incredible weapon he thought to himself

Lt.Eru now had aprx 100 Kirk to deal with, but for the Kirk to get to them, they had to wade through a waste deep, freezing cold river- which made Kirk a sitting duck. His platoon continued to rain hell on the Kirk to slow them as much as possible.
