*With the HE's refusal once more to leave South America, the New Commonwealth declare war once again and launch Operation Cold Fury* *Many armored divisions roll over the Southern France border into Northern Spain, supported by a horde of long range bombers and attack helicopters* ![]() ![]() *Huge Parachute forces drop into Pampalona to try and secure it* ![]() 1-2: Huge Failure. The HE forces are extremely well prepared and the horde of long range bombers that drop their munitions either are shot down by huge amounts of AA fire or their munitions land off target. The defenders are well dug in and the many armored columns can do little to shift them from their positions, halted in their tracks. The close air support and attack helicopters do nothing to protect the ground forces and many tanks are destroyed. The Parachute forces either miss their targets because of poor weather conditions or are met by heavy fire and are pinned down. Huge casualties are taken and only 5 miles are gained in the whole offensive. 3-5: Minor Failure. The HE forces are well prepared and the horde of long range bombers does little than take out a few gun emplacements, as the enemy return with a hail of AA fire into the sky. The defenders are dug in, in some places and the many armored columns only manage to destroy a few positions along the line, with many tank units being ambushed and surrounded. The close air support and attack helicopters do little to protect the ground forces and half a third of tanks are destroyed. The Parachute forces mainly land off target and those that do land on target are pinned down, with only one squadron making any real progress. High casualties are taken and only 10 miles are taken in the whole offensive. 6-8: Minor Success. The HE forces are stretched because of the war in the east, and the horde of long range bombers does much damage; softening up the defenses a lot for the tanks, but some planes are shot down. The defenders are dug in, but only in some areas well enough and the many armored columns do some very good damage, creating major holes in the line of defense to push through, with only a 1/4 of tanks destroyed. The close air support and attack helicopters provide some good support to the ground troops taking out key anti armor batteries, but a whole squadron of apaches are destroyed. The Parachute forces mainly land on target and only half land under heavy fire, many company's make their way into Pampalona and engage the forces there. Medium casualties are taken but the ground forces reach the city of Bilbao and draw near to Pampalona. 9-10: Huge Success. The HE forces are thinly stretched and under supplied because of the war in the east, and the horde of long range bombers completely decimates the front line of defenses; meaning the tanks have a clear opening route. The defenders are not dug in well enough and in not vital areas, nearly all the armored columns do alot of damage, destroying the first few lines of defenses, opening clear routes to the cities. The close air support and attack helicopters provide vital support to the ground forces, taking out many well dug in positions and with only 1 apache and 3 fighters being shot down. PArachute forces all land on their targets and with the enemy not expecting an aerial landing, they are able to secure most of Pampalona, using surprise and firepower to take key areas of the town. Light casualties are taken and the ground forces secure Bilbao and Pampalona, and reach the outskirts of Barcelona You rolled a: 10! |
