Thanks go to Andcus and Templar Commander for inspiration for the game, as well as help making it. Thanks to Andcus for making the maps and thanks to Templar for helping with some of the details in naming fictitious places. All fictitious ideas are the property of myself, Andcus and Templar Commander. This game is dedicated to all ISAF Forces fighting in Afghanistan at the moment.

This game is based on the original game of 4th Battalion, by Path&Andcus Ltd. It will involve small elements of fan fiction, with each individual player being able to tell his Character's story but in essence it will be a strategy style game. The game will be set in Helmand Province, Afghanistan and be in the setting of the current occupation by ISAF forces in the Southern region of the country. It will take place in the fictitious Forward Operating Base, of FOB Fennec which is on a hill overlooking the fictitious town of Dalak Margo which is just inside the Taliban controlled area known as the "Green Zone". You will play the role of company commanders inside a Combined ISAF battalion stationed in FOB Fennec, called the 3rd Joint Operations Mechanized Battalion.

Right this is how it will work. Their shall be a Battalion Commander, played by me who will decide before each battle what assets you will be receiving. It may be that of some Apache Gunship support from Kandahar air base or maybe if the need is great enough, some Fast Air could also be called in. I, as the BC, will tell each Company Commander controlled by you, what your role is for each mission. These may be things as simple as patrolling the town for the evening, or going on taskings, when we will have received intelligence reports that say a Taliban commander is hiding in a certain compound and i will send certain companies to try and take out or capture.

This is how combat will work. You will say:

Quote:

(First Post)

*After spotting the Taliban hiding in the ditch next to bridge, we begin to take fire from them*

You rolled a 7!

(Second Post)

*We manage to put down supressing fire, but can only move restrictedly as they are still able to return sporadic fire*

The rolls will be on a scale of 1-10, so the higher the roll you get the more positive the result you have, but it must be realistic. A '3' would mean that you would be unable to move and under very heavy fire, whether you have casualties is up to you but when casualties are concerned two things must be considered. One thing is, that although this is a warzone, ISAF have only suffered just over 1000 casualties in 8 years, so don't if you get a '1', decide that your going to have 5 people dead; remember this is a well equipped force and and are wearing body armor. The second thing is, that you should not be able to cause huge casualties to the Taleban, most likely because you will not be able to go and see how many you have killed but also because it is very rare for huge forces clashing in Helmand, so there will not be hundreds of targets. You must roll for everything you do that is tactical or involves the enemy, such as moving stealthily in the town or trying to spot where the enemy are firing from. It is all military based so try and keep it realistic, diverse and most of all different each time.

Here is the Area of Operation Map, showing FOB Fennec, Dalak Margo and the area around it:

Key:

Dark Blue Square: FOB Fennec
Light Blue: River
Dark Grey: Main Road
Light Grey: Side roads
Dark Brown: Hills
Dark Green: Buildings and Compounds
Light Green: Maize fields with trees, and other fields
Beige: Desert and barren lands.

To join please post what country you want your company to be from, and if you want them to just be a foot based infantry, one that moves about in APC's or there are limited slots for 2 APC companies, which would provide fire support.

Have fun!
