John Reynolds jumped off the bed of a pick-up truck he had gotten a rid into the zone. An Irish mercenary he had been fighting his way around the world for money. After recently being robbed of all he owned he has nothing but a pisto,l a few magazines of ammunition, a leather jacket, a PDA, a knife, and a "Anomaly detector he had been given before entering the Zone. He had been told by a good friend that the zone was the best way for a Merc to make money these days and to go to Sidorvich for a job to get started. He went over to Sidorvich's shop and walked in. He said in Russian but with an obvious Irish Brogue to Sidorvich "I need a job, Preferably one that will pay well" |

"All you new STALKERs coming in today demanding jobs! And you another mercenary!" *sighs* "Well at least your not Greek.... let me see here. Hmm... well I have this package that needs to be delivered to a special client waiting up by the worn down houses past the bridge. I usually have a special guy for this, but he turned up dead a few days ago. Don't worry, he wasn't assassinated or anything, poor bastard just wasn't paying attention and wandered into a stray anomaly. Anyway, you'll have to go past the bridge, which is currently controlled by the military. Normally the military boys would shoot on site, but fortunately for us, the Lt. stationed there is more than willing to accept bribes from STALKERs to allow them access further into the zone. Here's 1,000 Rubbles, 500 to let you in, and another 500 to get you back. Once you deliver the package, you'll receive the payment for it. You bring that payment to ME and then I'll give you your share for making the run. If you cheat me, I'll put a bounty on you so big, even the Master STALKERs will come all the way down here to kill you. Not to mention you won't be able to spend it anywhere, since I'm the source for all the other merchant's merchandise. So you gonna take the job?"

Oh and guys, enough mercenaries already. Most STALKERs are more like abacap's character. People who've been just barely getting by in the outside world and then come to the zone to make it big quick. Mostly from Eastern Europe, specifically Russia and Ukraine. |

"Okay. Here's the package" *Sidorovich pushes a bag full o' mysterious goodies across the counter* "It's pretty heavy so that'll probably slow you down, but don't you dare ditch the stuff cause then you'll be as good as dead. Also, I'd advise you don't look inside. Just get the job done and get paid, ok?" |

Michael Simmons had finally arrived at the fields and was walking around with his anomaly detector and had found some very weak beeps but had decided to move on. Once he had found a spot where the beeping was ear-piercing, Michael knelt down and threw a piece of burnt wood forward. The wood came right back at him in the form of splinters and several dug into Michaels face and arms. He yelled in pain and layed down in the grass. He slowly took the splinters out and threw them away. He got up and looked for that artifact. Sidorvich had said it was a "Jellyfish" artifact so he looked for something that resembled a jellyfish. He found some random rocks and objects but nothing signifacant. He took a rest on a stump and drank some water, while he looked over the horizon. Then he heard barking and his mind raced. Sidorvich had said something about wild dogs and that they don't come near anomalies often. Well he was wrong. Michael saw 4 dogs in all racing toward him. Michael quickly jumped behind the stump and into a deep ditch. He took out his knife and waited for any movement. Then he saw a dog come right up to him. This was the end. It had to be. Thought Michael. But as the dog approached him he realized that he had been saved! The dog had grey pupils which meant it had to be blind! He slowly got up and took of his jacket. He threw it about 10 feet to his left in the ditch. As the dog turned to the sound and walked toward the jacket, Michael punced on it. He quickly shoved the knife in it's neck, trying to kill it. It wimpered and fell over on it's side. Michael had just killed for the first time in his life. When he put his jacket back on he saw the three other dogs prowling around some kind of object. The artifact! They had sniffed it out and thought as it an enemy. Michael picked up a stone and threw it at the dogs. One wimpered and ran away while one growled at him. Michael faked a swing at the dog and then lept right up to it. The dog pounced on Mike and he quickly jabbed the dog with his fist. The dog kept trying to bite Michael but he kept on fighting back. Eventually Mike was able to kick it off and swing his knife into the dog's throat. That left one last dog. It looked up at him and wimpered. It was obviously a young one and was simply following it's pack. Now that's it's pack was dead it looked at Michael as if he were his mother. Michael realized what was happening and knelt down to the dog. He patted it on the head and let it sniff his open hand. After Mike was done playing with the dog he took the artifact from the ground and stuffed it in his pack. He started home when the dog started to follow him. He tried to shoo it but it just jumped around. He finally gave up and let it follow him. He decided to name the dog "Arty" since it had helped him the the artifact. Michael also realized that the dog was a German Shepard. OOC: Is it okay if I have a dog? |

Johnathan arrived at the camp and was walking through the entrance when he saw Wolf sitting over by the fire. He looked rather absent and so he though it would be best to take a seat and see if he could learn anything about the Car Parking. He dropped his pack bag onto the floor next to Wolf who jumped with a start. "Jesus man, dont do that around here" he said as Johnathan took a seat. "Saw those guys getting off the trucks earlier. Anyone I might know?" Edited by TemplarComander, Jan 16 2009, 03:44 AM.
