Dan and Eric are back! This season has a different format: so far, each episode is a follow-up visit with one couple, and there are a lot of flashbacks. I really want to see the whole group interact again. Anyway, Dan and Eric have worked out some compromises... yeah, right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOCW5QzfiYc |

Emily hosted the first meeting of this season last week - and Eric's definition of "first date" made Dan seem like a slut... I love how Dan can say something unexpectedly sweet that just shuts Eric up. This week's episode is up - and we get a glimpse of Michael! I thought it was going to be a running joke to keep Emily's marital problems off-limits to the group. Eric does more crunches than quips in this episode - and I think he'll regret his decision when Dan tells him about the latest "couple" that Emily invited to attend the meeting. |

I loved yesterday's episode; watched it four times already. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRhfHA7iIc8 So many moments! Eric: "And I never had to destroy my beloved koi pond." Jenny: "You have a koi pond in a New York apartment?" Dan: "I never deliberately sabotaged my partner's attempts to have a baby." Thom: *drinks* Jenny: "How does the guy sabotage the baby-making?" Kenny: "It can be done." Eric: "Where'd you get the pot?" Dan: "Why, so you can leave some of that lying around the apartment for Lorraine to find?" Eric: "I would never do that." *drinks* Jenny: "No, Eileen is controlling, she meddles in everyone's life, she wants everything to be perfect or other- oh my God, I am Eileen!" Kenny: "No - I never married my mom." *drinks* Jenny: "Kenny!" Dan & Eric: *drink* Gerry: "I never had my kid draw a picture of me burning in my bed." Eric: "Oh, here, loves, take the pitcher." Anna: "Ohh, I don't know what I would do if little Bob lashed out at us like that." Terry: "Really, Anna. Really." Gerry: "He is either very very mad at us or psychotic. Take your pick." Terry: "It's a phase." Gerry: "He drew a picture of himself standing in the corner holding a lit match." Terry: "Holding a lighter. Gerry: "Lay off my father!" Eric: "What if we adopt a kid and in the middle of the night he soaks my Latis collection in peach schnapps and sets it on fire? He runs away and leaves us to burn in our bed because he took the batteries out of the fire alarm to use in his meth lab? It could happen." Terry: "Everybody lies to their priest. It's a rite of passage." Anna: "Out yourself or I will." Dan: "Outing someone is never cool." Eric: "I never tried to pay a cab driver with Monopoly money." Dan: *bites lip, shakes head* Eric: "I never experimented with the other team." Gerry, Anna, Dan, Eric: *drink* Thom: "Does Lao Tsu know about this?" Anna: "Shut up." |

Eric broke Dan's heart in this week's episode. Both Nicholas Rodriguez and Blake Hammond were really good with the suddenly serious ending. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKQQSkC6tEA |

It seemed out of character for Irish Catholic Terry to propose a game of strip poker, but whatever. There seem to be too many recurring characters in this season. Ned and Ashley were funny in that one episode last season, not as much anymore, whereas Vance/Paige/Scotty have no redeeming qualities. I liked it when Michael was unseen, and Gerry's father is insufferable. Who's next - Kenny's mother, played by the actor's real-life mother-in-law on her breaks from the kitchen? |
