I honestly still don't get this whole "Kish not resonating with mainstream viewers" thing. Yup, b/c no one in the "mainstream" has ever felt different, right? Or been faced w/having to confront a part of themselves they'd rather not? And of course no one in the "mainstream" can possibly identify with thinking they'd lost the love of their life b/c they were too afraid to admit exactly who they are, right? No one in the "mainstream" has ever laid their hearts on the line with the distinct possibility of it getting hurt all over again due to their own self-deprication and fears getting in the way of their own happiness? And no one in this "mainstream" has ever hurt the one person in their lives who truly knows them, right, who wants the best for them & understands & accepts them even when they don't understand & accept themselves, right? And no one in the "mainstream" can possibly identify with fears of not being accepted for some facet of who they are, or fears of their parents not accepting/loving them for something they have no control over, fears that they're not going to be a good role model to their own child, or that, in order to be true to themselves, they have to turn their backs on everything they've ever known to be true (their religion, what their parents taught them, etc)? o_O I'll never get how the people that make up this "mainstream" group didn't identify with Kish in some way.

Well okay then. Everybody do whatever you can to save our favorite couple on OLTL. Scott and Brett aka Kyle and Oliver are the best daytime couple ever let's save our favorite gay couple and get them back. Let's fight as hard as we can. |

As nice as that is to hear, it just won't be the same knowing we had to do all this shit just to keep Kish on. And who's to say OLTL won't treat Kish badly if they kept them on? I honestly think that, for me, this whole situation has ruined it all, whether they keep Kish on or not. All I'm going to be able to think about from now on is, "Oh, they just blame Kish for all the bad ratings." Sorry to sound all pessimistic. I'm never usually this negative. :annoyed: Edited by Obscura, Mar 11 2010, 04:53 PM.

That's my dilemma. Would the boys even want to come back after being publicly blamed for the decline in ratings? And if the show were somehow forced to back down what kind of reception would they receive from the higher ups? |

Honestly I have been very torn. Parts of me wants to fight like hell to save Kish, other part just wants Brett & Scott to move on. I think we should do something, at least all call and write in. That way, we can at least say we tried and made ourselves known. I don't think giving up and going quietly into the night is the way to go. Everyone said the Nuke fans were stupid with their "Kiss Campaign" but guess what? It worked, yeah the writing is still bad for the most part, but at least ended the Kiss ban. Maybe out efforts will be nill, but at least we can make it known we shouldn't be treated like scum. Edited by dkp, Mar 11 2010, 04:59 PM.

I know, any other time i'd be re-watching that joint interview over and over again, but right now watching it just once was enough!! I've not watched any Kish scenes since the news broke. It's Friday tomorrow, so i think in the evening i might go onto Youtube and watch Kyle's declaration of love at the BGW, se how i feel!! It's funny you should mention B&S, i'm watching it right now on TV. I love Kevin and Scotty so much. I wish TPTB at ABCD were as suportive as the bosses who make B&S. I love that line from Nora, so apt for what we're all going through right now. I'm hurting so much at the moment, but i'm sure in time we will all be able to move on. Just not yet, cause it's so raw, so bloody upsetting, so FUCKED UP!!!! As you say we were just getting started!!!! |

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Why would Brett and Scott want to go back to a show that has already shown them such disrespect, not only as actors, but to the characters they've worked so hard to breathe life into? It would be great if we could save them and they agree to come back to close out the Kish story properly for themselves and the fans. |

Oh, yeah. Michael Logan has been doing this for maybe over 30 years. He probably wants us to get angry and riled up, as you said, rightly so. I still don't like how he excluded non-LGBTQ folks as persons who enjoyed and watched KISH, but his not-so-subtle call to arms has been heard and understood. |

I completely agree. I'd rather be writing letters and making phone calls than watching the love scene over and over again and crying (though I have done plenty of that too). |
