if the ratings, by some miracle to do spike up, IT WON"T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH KISH. If anything, it might go up b/c of all the controversy all the firings bring up, other than that i do NOT believe there will be any correlation. UGH! I need to cut a bitch! |

I am still as incensed about this today as I was yesterday. I feel like going all 16 again and chaining myself to something in protest. I'm mad. Not just for Scott and Brett and their characters but for the people I brought to the show, friends who had never watched a soap a day in their lives. I told them: They are committed to telling these stories, to integrating these characters into the larger canvas, they are going to be treated just like any other character on canvas. For some of my friends, they were seeing their lives on screen, in a way they never before seen on network television. They believed in this story because it felt true. Sure, there was the dramatics of the BGW but at, its core, it was real. Now they're being told that a portrayal of their lives is not mainstream enough. To paraphrase an Adele song, they showered us with words made of knives. But the last ones, the ones from that press release, cut deeper than any that came before. |

Same here! I was hoping I'd wake up and be calmed down enough to send a polite letter to ABC, but I'm even more angry now! :annoyed: :fight: |

If we draw any conclusions from the ratings going up or down after Kish is gone, we're doing - to an extent - the same thing as TPTB did: assume that two incidents that occur after each other are automatically cause and effect. Though I'd still like to utter the words 'Karma is a bitch' in the foreseeable future. |

Yeah i'm also slogging through my working day after a restless noght, which consited of 3 hours of broken sleep!! It's 1430 here in the UK, roll on 1630 when i finish. I'm definitely going to have a few glasses of wine tonight. Couldn't drink last night cause i was on call, it was very difficult getting through it all without one!!! I'm also really, really confused, why bother making Oliver the Daddy, and moving Kyle into a bigger apartment (perfect for raising SR) if they were just going to throw the can at them :dunno: This whole thing just doesn't make any sense, and it's not getting any clearer!!! I'm still so angry at the way Scott and Brett have been treated :annoyed: especially Brett, like you say, he was hired for a role, then dumped because they found a more 'well known' soap actor (although i'm not going to be too harsh seeing as Scott C has also got the chop, and i liked sky), then being written a certain way which was hard for him to go anywhere, then finally getting a great storyline with Kish, doing a stellar job with the limited airtime he was given, and now let go with two years of his contract still to run. While i'm beyond upset, i think that Brett and Scott are better off out of OLTL now. I don't think it's going to be long before the is cancelled now, after all these firrings, so at least they're out now and won't go down with the sinking ship! If this wasn't enough for the LGBT community to get down about today, first thing I read today is a Mississippi school is CANCELLING the prom because a girl wanted to bring a girl as a date. While some students are standing up for her, the others are just going to blame her for it and likely victimize her as a result. Disgusting. I don't even want to get out bed today. http://www.towleroad.com/2010/03/lesbian-student-says-schools-decision-to-cancel-prom-is-retaliation-for-her-petition-to-bring-samese.html |

Well Anthony that to is the only thing I'm looking forward to the last couple of scenes between Kyle and Oliver and then I am done with the show. I will now only watch Y&R and GH. But I am hoping that the Kishmet board will not close down so that we can follow both Brett and Scott to their next project I mean even though we both have Scott's tweeter and Brett fanpage but still keep the board on so that can follow them. So I am guessing that we won't see Kish hold the baby and then ride off into the sunset. :waah: |

I'm also hearing that money was a factor in the decision in that the show needed to save some money so they had to make cuts. SC and BC both had contracts, played characters not tied to anybody in town, were not part of the core and had been with the show less than a year. Easy to get rid of and sadly, very expendable. As bothered as I am about them being let go, I still am grateful that we had them for the time we did. They are still the best gay couple day time has seen. And for me that was better than nothing at all. Actually, I'm most upset that we won't get a proper goodbye. I would have rather Kyle and Oliver get the baby, get a phone call from Oliver's parents to come and visit and it would be written like we'd know they weren't coming back. Then several episodes later, we'd hear the guys got new jobs and decided to stay there and start new. I'd rather have a quick and sudden exit than nothing at all. And while we're upset that we lost our favorite couple/characters, Scott and Brett are suddenly, unexpectedly unemployed. As someone who knows that feeling my real sorrow is for them. Cause that's a tough nut to crack. |

Ratings have slowly gone up a little since January, but I just don't see them spiking. If anything, from the reactions I've seen here, I fully expect ratings to drop as lots of new and long-time viewers tune out. And yeah, even after a night's sleep, I woke up pissed. I'm sort of glad I didn't post the long rant I wrote for my blog last night, because I've had to chance to think on some things and reword some parts. I'd like to include some quotes from folks here, though, especially from those viewers who've said they've watched the show for many, many years and will stop watching once Kish is gone. If you're interested, please PM me. :) |
