The Whore of Babylon

It's not like I thought Obama's election ended racism or anything, but... Fuckdamn! When you get people like Reid jamming their feet in their mouths and throwin' around their RaceFail, and then you also see emails being sent out in workplaces all over the country that promote the most horrible, racist imagery and project it onto our president... and then you think about the fight for equal rights, the fact that legislature after legislature cannot seem to get it right about same-sex marriage, the shit happening in VA, the hate crimes still being perpetuated, and THE DEATH PENALTY/LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR GLBT PEOPLE IN UGANDA, promoted and perpetuated by our lovely ex-gay "Christian" movement... :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: I weep for us. I really, really do. Kyle and Oliver are small potatoes, really. But within the grander scheme of things, what ABC has done is acquiesced to the forces that drive all that hatred above. For the bottom line. Scapegoating Kyle and Oliver for declining ratings is PATHETIC. It's just as FUCKING easy to look at Todd, Rex, hell... even my beloved John McBain at times, as fucking airhogs that tank stories and make what could have been awesome umbrella stories weaker. THAT'S WHAT'S TANKING THE FUCKING RATINGS, YOU ARROGANT DOUCHES!! *sigh* Yelling on the internets does surprisingly feel good. I'm going to shoot off a couple of emails later on today or tomorrow. That's my take on it too, but I wish they had given us some more KISH! Brett Claywell and Scott Evans deserve a HUGE career and amazing roles and opportunities, but they were just "Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens" together.. Apart, it will just not be the same... The shocker is that it's so sudden and that Brett and Scott were hit over the head with it just like us, apparently. So very cruel! I feel so bad for them. So sorry. |

I've just sent this email to Frons and Frank Hi, I am writing to express my disappointment, upset, sadness and anger towards your/ABC's decision to axe Kyle/Oliver - Kish, Brett and Scott. I discovered Kish last November, when i was looking at Youtube clips from another show. I instantly fell in love with them. they are the reason why i watch OLTL, and as from the moment they leave my screens, i'll be leaving the show as a viewer (in the UK) I fell completely in love with the characters of Kyle and oliver, and the actors Brett and Scott. I am a straight woman in her early 30's but Kyle's story, his pain, loss and hurt over losing Oliver resonated with me, cause i think those are universal themes in relationships, who hasn't felt the pain of lost love? It doesn't matter if that love is between a woman and a man, a man and a man, or a woman and a woman, the emotions are the same. I know that there are many people out there who was touched by Oliver's coming out story, the struggles he faced (and continues to face), how he overcame those feelings to become the man Kyle felt he always could be. The chemistry between Brett and Scott has been incredible to watch. Both actors have given your show some much needed publicity, and what other couple on the show have a whole internet webpage devoted to them, or have been internationality recognised? Certainly not your obvious favourites like the never-ending Gigi/Re saga. For the record FF/JPL can't act!!!! I can't begin to tell you how angry i am that you've caved into the homophobic, bigoted idiots who are stopping your country from moving forward and towards acceptance of gay/lesbian people. I think it's a disgrace, and you should all be ashamed of yourselves. I thought that everyone involved in this storyline were committed to it, to showing a gay couple who existed in the same way as straight couples, ie they held down jobs, went to med school, had friends, had an apartment etc. Just when i thought America/ABC were taking steps forward, you've now taken about 1000 steps back!! It's 2010, NOT 1903 for god sake!!! I also think the way the story was leaked to the press before the actors were informed is disgusting and disrespectful. Brett and Scott have done nothing but work hard, promote their storyline with such joy and emotion, and have put their heart and souls into making Kish a well-rounded couple who love each other deeply. For you to treat them like dirt just goes to show the type of people you really are!!! Brett and Scott derserved so much better than this!! And as for the "kyle and Oliver will still live in Lainview, you just won't see them onscreen" crap. That's insulting to Brett, Scott and all us Kish fans who have supported them, invested in them, supported ABC, congratulating all of you for being *cough* courageous*cough* in your decisions regarding the couple. Frons you are a COWARD. Frank and Ron, you're no better!! I hope that Brett and Scott both go on to bigger and better things professionally, hopefully making you guys rue the day you ever let them go! Yours sincerely, Nadine Erskine |

I know exactly how you feel.....but we will have to rely on Fan Fiction on here and on Live Journal....I imagine that the NUKE fans are going through the same thing...Van Hansis was smart and has his own web-site which has been used for NUKE....this one should change over to Brett and Scott and we fans can keep KISH alive through our own creations. |

i love your letter nadine! thank you. well it's already 6 am here in san francisco and i haven't slept yet. i tried finishing my farewell fanvid to kish... although i have only made about 5 fanvids... this one is the most painful... i was trying not to cry everytime i am splicing scenes from youtube clips... when i finished it i felt terrible even more. it was supposed to be chatartic for me.... but it still didn't diminish the hurt that i am feeling losing kish... like i said.. it's like losing a best friend... i will try to upload it later in the m-vids as soon as its completely processed in my youtube channel. |

If you're referring to VH.net, then it's not his official site, it's just a fanpage. I have actually thought about changing the name of this site to embrace Brett and Scott, don't know what will be the administrators' opinion on it. |

Slogging through the workday after a restless night...feeling a whole swirl of emotions... ...confusion (like...what was the point of setting up Kyle in a new, big-enough-for-baby apartment if Show was getting ready to can them?). ...anger at the way TIIC treated Scott and Brett (particularly Brett. Hired for a role, ejected from role for "bigger name" soap actor, thrown into a part that they made up along the way, written into a corner, finally gets a chance to shine/good storyline with Kish, and then let go with two years to go on his contract). ...curiosity if RC's days are numbered (what does it say that almost every charater he introduced last year (nuRachel, Sky, Kyle, Stacy, Kim) is gone or on their way out the door?). ...inspiration, particularly after consoling myself by reading WTF's "So It Began", to launch a fan fic of my own. ...and finally, probably stupid optimism that the Kish storyline's "series finale" will give me some kind of closure (I'd like it if their last episode was maybe the first night they bring Sierra Rose home and we just get them talking about their future with at least one kiss). |

I've been trying to catch up with this thread the whole morning, but I couldn't (keep trying, tho), between work, reading Internet reactions, twitter and trying to start a letter for ABC/FV/Frons/whoever, so I'm not sure if this has been post already (sure it has), and maybe this isn't the right place but I've read that that video interview with Brett and Scott will be available today at MichaelFairmanSoaps.com??? (I wonder if I'll be able to watch an interview from a week or two ago, with the guys talking about Kish and being as sweet and cute as usual...).Totally agree with this. I'm sad I'm not seeing Kish anymore on my screen, but the way this is being done is just wrong. Not only they weren't told they were being written off but also their story is blamed for the low ratings?? Urg, Brett and Scott deserve so much better than this show... that's true it's his fans that run it but he does look at it and it's been very very popular over the years....we can do that with this one....I think we are all still in shock and really don't know what to do. Thank goodness for YouTube and Anthony's clips....and the wonder fan fiction... |

Ana, can't quite keep up with all that's been written either... Want to though!!! About the Michael Fairman interview, really?!!?!! TODAY!!!.. So cruel, to them both. How could they?!! OLTL was dying anyway, no? Why do this to get a couple of viewers back, when the whole show was gonna be gone in a few months anyway... :dunno: Bastards! |
