I would find it extremely amusing and satisfying if the only Daytime Emmy nominations OLTL get are for Crystal Hunt, Scott Clifton, Scott Evans, and Brett Claywell.
That would be awesome.Could you imagine the look on Fron's face. I'd pay good money to see this happen! I think it's super likely that the Scotts and Crystal will get nods, so I've got my fingers crossed that come time for the Emmys, OLTL is sitting their with pie on their face as everyone they fired reaps rewards.

If OLTL is being cancelled, it's a shame to see the show go sans-Fish and Kyle. I know they're relative 'newbies' but OLTL has always been the trailblazing pioneer soap--Fish & Kyle represent everything that OLTL has largely been about . . .
Idk, either way, this is all bullshit. I have a hard time thinking Ron C. has anything to do with this (or a lot of stuff that's happened or is going to--I really thought he was behind Stacy and he's publicly stated he doesn't support John/Natalie).

I think that OLTL has been cancelled, but ABCD doesn't want to make it official yet. I smell Brian Frons' fingerprints all over this fiasco.
I think if the show were canceled Ron would probably be given more free rein--I suspect it's more a last ditch effort to prevent cancellation. I guess we'll see if it works (not likely) or blows up in their face. Most are speculating that all these actors are being let go to make room for others or because they didn't resonate with the mainstream audience. I wonder if they will be let go and not replaced by now actors. I wonder if the cast is being trimmed significantly with no replacements in mind? It reminds me of the last months of GL before it ended.

I don't know if I can explain how angry I am right now about Kyle and Oliver being written off OLTL. Here's an email letter I sent to ABC. I will send it out in hardcopy, too, later tonight.
TO THE COWARDS AT ABC:
I grew up watching ABC Daytime series like All My Children, One Life to Live, General Hospital, and Loving. One of the main reasons why I stopped watching these shows was because they never did stories about my life and loves as a gay man. Which was why I was so happy to find out about the Kyle and Oliver story on One Life to Live this past December.
I quickly caught up with the entire Kyle and Oliver story via YouTube clips and started watching One Life to Live again in earnest because of these two characters and how well, how realistically, their story was being told. I was just getting to a point where all of the characters on the show felt familiar and I enjoyed watching their stories unfold, when, after I returned from class this afternoon, I found out that Kyle and Oliver were being written out of One Life to Live and would be gone from the canvas in less than a month because they, supposedly, weren’t resonating with mainstream audiences.
Well, congratulations ABC, when Kyle and Oliver are written off One Life to Live, you lose this viewer. Using the “gays” as a scapegoat for One Life to Live’s declining ratings is nothing but a copout on your part and a despicable example of pandering to homophobic bigots.
I just wanted to say thank you for making me—a gay man—and my life seem inconsequential and not worth your efforts when it comes to daytime television.
Brian Frons, YOU are a coward.
Here’s to the cancellation of One Life to Live.

Very well said, Tony. Thanks for sharing. Reading your letter is very helpful in terms of the collective grieving process we're going through. Thanks again. Thanks, j. I'll have more to say as time goes on, but I just had to do something. Even something as ineffectual as writing an email message.
And, truth be told, in the version I actually sent, I went after RC and FV as cowards, too. And despite the fact that they created the K&O story. A part of me is so angry that, as gay men, too, I really want to see both Ron and Frank walk away from OLTL over this. Maybe I shouldn't feel that way, but there it is.

I imagine one defense of keeping Kyle and Oliver in Llanview, rather than giving them a "ride into the sunset" ending like they deserve, is freaking Gigi. She "loves" SR, and I can't imagine them writing her as being okay with Kish absconding with her niece to another state.
We'll probably get patronizing stuff like "I just picked up Sierra Rose from Fish," and other crap when Gigi has weekends or whatever. Blah.

I understand there something to be said for a legacy, and the show going on, but at this point I don't see why OLTL should continue.

Great letter, Tony. And, free of the expletives that ran free in my first draft. I'll get there eventually but still being at work is not helping my state of mind.
But you perfectly articulated what a lot of us are thinking and feeling.

How was ABC able to demonstrate a correlation - never mind a true causation - between KISH and ONE LIFE's low ratings? KISH is the sole reason for the low ratings? I question the methods by which ABC reached this conclusion. What about Stacy/Rex/Gigi, Tea/Todd/Blair and Mitch Laurence's stories? How much did they factor in to the declining ratings?
It's so easy to blame KISH and by extension Scott and Brett for ABC's failures. It's not as if KISH were on everyday or even promoted onscreen by ABC. Same can't be said for the other characters mentioned above. It's the way Democrats like to blame gay issues for John Kerry losing in 2004. The polling doesn't support that, but gays are an easy scapegoat.
I'm very disappointed in this - I'm a long time One Life to Live fan - and was so, pre-Kish - but no longer after Kish leaves. I'm not going to support a show which has shown such cowardice, and pandering to the bigots.
