I saw the news just before I left work and then had stuff to do afterwards and then have spent the last hour catching up so I'm a bit numb and frankly exhausted by the news. First off I don't buy for a second that Kish is solely responsible for the ratings issues back in the Fall. While I'm sure a few people tuned out, others tuned in so the ratings situation was probably a wash. I am disappointed though in ABCD basically giving into the loudest, most bigoted viewers (never mind that I imagine the gay viewership probably has more disposable income than the typical 'mainstream' :annoyed: viewer). I'm utterly disgusted that it seems as though Brett and Scott weren't shown the common decency of being told first! I suppose the only solace is that with Kish off the screen they can't wreck them like they've wrecked other couples. |

ITA - which leads me to repeat my post a few pages back about Ron C. better get his law degree dusted off b/c not only do I think he may need it to fall back on as an employment opportunity but he may need it to sue ABCD for unlawful termination. The low ratings are a direct result of the writing. I'm sorry but that's the truth. The actors did a fine job of delivering the dialogue THAT WAS GIVEN TO THEM BY THE WRITERS! If anyone has blood on their hands in this bloodbath over at OLTL - it's Ron C. and his writing staff. They should feel ashamed that they have wasted two talented actors on what has become a joke of a storyline since December. Everyone that was associated with the pregnancy s/l has been let go with the exception of Farah and John-Paul. So it was basically FOR NOTHING!!!! We can only hope that ABCD learns from this and does better next time. If they butcher the Cayla s/l, I'd have to say that after 13 years of faithful viewership, I'M DONE!!!!! ... This hasta be a joke. I'm horrified. The only real conclusion based on this decision is that the show is coming to an end and they have to clean out people, because this story is SO well acted and really well written they would be STUPID to get rid of Kyle and Fish. Their story is extremely realistic, and when the show jumps between scenes to other storylines, with some of the other storylines, I feel like it's some cheesy amateur acting, like most recently jessica's memory loss, then when Kish appears on screen I feel like I'm intruding on a conversation between two lovers whom I come to know and am in love with (AHH *sigh*). They make it so real and make the story come to life with their chemistry and the realistic situations thanks to the writing, it's beautiful the way they run off eachother so comfortably. The show hasta be making desperate moves in desperate measures. The other story lines that were co-existing with kish in the quote on quote low rated november were terrible, i agree with some when they say and those characters/stories couldnt have been the reason??? It is very sad our vision into their lives will be cut off, however we can't ignore what Kish's story has obviously done for every single one us. Edited by Swagger2, Mar 10 2010, 07:58 PM.

I have been watching OLTL for 17 years. This is the first time I have considered ending my love-affair with my favorite show. I have put up with a lot of crap from OLTL over the years, and stuck it out. I have no words for how angry this makes me. NO WORDS. |

I'd be interested in hearing the spec, and no interest in spreading it. |

If they're going to write them off, could they at least get a proper send-off? "Oh, they'll still be in Llanview but you just won't see them." I don't care. If I don't see them on-screen, they no longer exist as characters. Just write them off into the sunset or something. Hell, at this point, I would be satisfied with an ending similar to the half-assed one they gave Jack and Jennifer on Days (out-of-nowhere job offers in London for both of them that required them to leave that minute). I'm not going to feel better about this whole thing because they are wandering around Llanview off-screen. Edited by bittersweetlily, Mar 10 2010, 08:04 PM.

I'm a 20+ year viewer and unless ABC reverses this decision, I'm done with ONE LIFE TO LIVE as well. I'm sick of being treated like a third class citizen and I won't put up with it from ABC Daytime and its ilk. When my Ollie Bear and Kyle leave Llanview, so will I. |
