I'm trying to compose my letter in my head, and it almost infuriates me even more that I'm actually going to commend/give some measure of credit to Brian Frons/ABC/RC/FV for showing this storyline in the 1st place. WTH kind of world do we live in where even showing a gay couple on soaps/in other media outlets is something that deserves a lot of praise & a pat on the back, like "Good job! Yay, we commend you for showing something that's actually not that uncommon in towns all over the US?" It's almost like some people truly believe that American towns are solely populated by straight people. o_O I don't get it. I honestly wonder sometimes what the world would be like if a straight pairing was OMG-worthy & gay pairings were the majority. |

F*CK, I take two days of vacation and when I come back what do I see??? :wow: :wow: No more Kish after mid-April?? I'm disappointed and angry and many many things. Between their actors and the homophobics arseholes they choose the arseholes. :vomit: :vomit: After April? No more OLTL for me thank you very much. Edited by Solayana, Mar 12 2010, 01:47 AM.

Okay, I really should be in bed now since I need to get up for work tomorrow (wait...make that today!), but I wanted/needed to read through everyone's wonderful posts. A few things before I hit my pillow: 1) Yesterday according to TVGuide KISH didn't resonate with the audience and was responsible for low ratings. 24 hours later according to SoapNet KISH resonated with the audience and was hugely popular. Holy Whiplash Batman!! I know I'm dating myself. 2) I just can't ignore the idiocy of the people commenting on Perez Hilton. Posters "couldn't relate" and were "grossed out" by two men who truly loved each other and had a healthy, respectful relationship. Oookaay, so let me get this clear. You can relate to and are not grossed out by unrepentent rapists. You can relate to and are not grossed out by bible spouting psychopaths who attempt to rape their own daughter. You can relate to and are not grossed out by teenage sluts. Wow! I can't believe I live in the same country as these people. Talk about can't relate to and grossed out. 3) I was involved in one campaign previously (didn't go well). Like many of you I am torn between being selfish and wanting KISH on my TV and being altruistic in wanting Brett and Scott to move on to bigger and better things. But for me it comes down to this, I'm tired of television pandering to the lowest common denominator. It is better to fight and fail then never to have fought at all. I'll leave you with the immortal words of Abraham Lincoln (my all time favorite person ever): The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just. And yes, this will be included in my letter/email writing onslaught to commence this weekend. And with that I bid you good night until tomorrow. |

I was re-reading a post and it said that the doors for KISH are always available to re-open... But WTF, why send them away now?! Do you think they'll bring them back, or maybe after seeing how upset we are, not even take them off? D: I'm just hoping for the best, here. Hope for the best. Expect the worst. |

DON'T MAKE ME GO GAGA ON YOUR ASS, ABCD!!!!

This is my letter ... Can you guys give me pointers? I don't really know what else i need to be addressing... Mr. Brian Scott Frons, As a 20 year old male attending university in Los Angeles, I know you might think that I don't fall into your "mainstream" demographic for a soap viewer. For the majority of my life I had always assumed that soaps were horribly contrived, impossible, and utterly unwatchable, that is until the storyline about Kyle Lewis and Oliver Fish was introduced. Sometime in 2009 I came across Youtube clips that depicted Oliver Fish, a man struggling with his own sexuality, with himself as a person, and what he wanted out of life. What I saw resonated with me deeply, so much so that I can honestly say i feel like the "Kish" (as us fans lovingly call them) story has changed my life. Watching Scott Evans' character Oliver in denial, struggling with himself, having nobody to turn to for all those years, I felt for him, I felt I was with him. When he finally built up the courage to come out to his family i was floored by his courage and by his plight. It was such an emotional experience for me because I had never seen a scene like that done with so much realism and raw emotion. It seemed to me that soap operas had finally broken free of the cliches that plagued it, maybe now soaps were telling realistic stories about real world problems. Maybe now soaps were finally breaking down the barriers in terms of stories and conflicts. Maybe now soaps were perpetuating something positive and good. The way One Life depicted the character Kyle Lewis as a loving and nurturing man who was willing to fight against all odds for the person he loved gave me a glimmer of hope not only for TV but for society as a whole. Maybe now soap operas weren't just vehicles to take up the daytime television slots. Maybe now soaps were a part of something bigger and progressive in this country. Maybe now soaps could address social issues with their stories. Finally, when Oliver and Kyle reunited after all the denial and all the heartbreak, I felt like theirs was a love that transcended race, gender, and orientation. Their story truly was a story about love and hope, one that I have yet to see from any other characters on One Life to Live. I knew then that this was a part of history, that society had taken a huge step forward in ceasing stereotypes and accepting different people. The love between Kyle and Oliver was one that gave me hope for the future of society and for my own future. I looked to them as models, they were my window into a future with possibilities: a family, a relationship, a true love. With nobody to turn to, nobody i could relate to about my own internal struggles, their story provided me with a haven. The emotions that Oliver expressed, I felt personally. I looked to him and saw someone that was more than a character, but as a confidant, a friend. We were going through this internal struggle together and I felt like i honestly had someone who understood me as well. Kyle's powerful personality and confidence in himself and who he was was something i felt i could look forward to, to want to be like. He taught me that being myself wasn't a crime, it wasn't something to be ashamed of. He showed me that being true to yourself is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and i thank him for that. Oliver and Kyle, over the last year have become a part of me. They are two characters that i will always hold close to my heart as the couple that showed me it was okay to hope for a better future. However, with the recent news about abruptly ending their storyline, I can see that maybe all the hope i had was for naught. When you say that Kish's story didn't connect with the mainstream audience, I simply don't understand. Does the "mainstream audience" like watching homewreckers, rapists, cults, and incest? Does the mainstream audience like stories that have been rehashed and redone, stories that are illogical and impossible, and stories that are cold and emotionless? I find it hard to believe that the one true story about love, commitment, and acceptance is the one that doesn't resonate with mainstream viewers. I find it hard to believe that the one original story with fire, passion, realism, and real possibility for expansion is the one that doesn't resonate with the mainstream viewers. However, I do believe that ending the Kish storyline would not only be a huge blow to One Life to Live, but also a huge blow to soaps in general and society as a whole. Killing Kish, ending the one real, raw, and powerful story on One Life, would bring soaps back to the cliche stories about comas, amnesia, rapists, incest, etc. Killing Kish would also be a huge step back in television and society. Killing Kish would effectively end the presence of gay people on daytime, overlooking a whole group of people and propagating prejudice and homophobia in society. Essentially, Killing Kish will have destroyed all the progress that One Life has made and them some. I know that If the Kyle and Oliver story does get cut, I will not longer watch One Life to Live. I feel that loyalty is one of the most important qualities in life and i am loyal to the two men on One Life who have changed my life. I feel like the news of cancellation was a stab in the back for my loyalty. After finally getting to know all the other characters and really get settled in Llanview, to have the reason i started watching be cut out...All i can say is "Et tu...." I'm sending you this letter as a plea. Please don't push daytime back into the closet. Please don't push soaps back onto the train of cliche's and rehashes. Please don't push all the other people who could benefit from the Kish story away. Please don't Kill Kish. -My Name Los Angeles, California Loyal Kish Fan |

They can't even write a proper leaving, I mean if they leaving the show I want them to leave Llanview too, not just fade away from our screens. They have Sierra, said F*ck to everyone and then leave. I don't even want to see Fish come back for a cop thing. |

I love the letter, Asera :hearts: The only thing I'd take out is the reference to YouTube. They don't make any money off of those views, so it's probably best not to mention it. But wow, what a wonderful letter :))))) |
