I feel exactly the same way. Of course i know that at some point Brett and Scott will go their seperate ways acting wise, thats life. But i just don't want it to happen any time soon. I think Kish works so well because of the close friendship which has developed between Brett and Scott. You only have to listen/read to inteviews they have given to know how much they value each other, look up to each other and respect each other, both professionally and personally. The chemistry comes from a deper level than just something on the surface, as Brett mentioned so eloquently on the Buzz radio interview. Thats why i think it would be incredibly difficult to re-cast either role, and have that amazing chemistry which exists between Brett and Scott. Edited by KIsh4ever, Mar 7 2010, 08:59 PM.

Oh thanks! Of course! It's the moment where Oliver storms off just when he said the 'normal parents' line.. |

Recasts are so hard to get used to. I don't think I could get used to new actors in either role. I think Kyle would be easier to recast because the character has been explored less in depth than Oliver. Considering recasts in general though, I think certain characters are so pivotal on a canvas that a recast is preferable to eliminating the character. I loved Beth Ehlers as Harley on GL but her character's departure left an unfillable hole in one of the central families on the show. The most successful recasts tend to be of supporting characters, especially young ones. Another key to a successful recast is to have a stable staff of writers who understand the essence of the character. I don't watch Y&R but look how many of its main characters are recasts. |

Like I said, it's all about the story. And here's the thing: so long as it's Ron who's writing it - even though his rewrites of late have driven me mad - I would accept recasts of the characters. Yes, the actors get closely associated with their alter egos but some of my fave characters are played by recast actors like Luke on ATWT, Jess and Cris on OLTL, Brady on DAYS etc. But the show has to go on. And Ron's the best guy in the business to write for gay characters right now. It's certainly not Jean Passanante and David Kreizman, Bob Guza or the biggest liar of them all, Maria Arena Bell, that's for sure. I adore Scotty and his Brettzel, but I think I love their alter egos more... |

A recast?? Oooh, I don't know, I think I wouldn't like it!! I just follow Kish storyline and part of why I like Kyle and Oliver so much is because of the actors. As others have said, the chemistry is amazing, and I don't think that's something easy to find. But I don't know, not sure if a recast would work. We don't have this kind of soaps in Spain, and in our TvShows, when actors want to leave, they are killed off or written out in some way. I guess if Scott left and Brett stayed, I'd give it a chance and keep watching his story, because I love Brett too much. Of course, if Scott leaves without recast for Oliver, I'd prefer him to be killed too, I wouldn't like a "oh, we can't be together, we don't want the same things, so I'll just leave"... After all Kish have gone through, that wouldn't make sense to me. Best scenario for me?? More development and drama for Kish for a little while, and a happy ending for them  Also, I have to say that when one of my favourite characters leaves a show or is killed, I get so angry sometimes that I just stop watching, I'm simple like that... (yes, Torchwood, talking to you!!!) |

ITA!!!! Are you inside my brain cause thats exactly what i'm thinking :LMAO: :smooch: I don't go quite as far as not watching my soap or tv shows if my faves leave, but i certainly feel very upset for a few weeks, and miss them, and think 'oh he/she would have been fantastic in that scene' etc. Spain sounds similar to the UK, in that re-casts don't happen very often, in fact they hardly ever occur. And on the small occasions when they do, it's after the character has been away for a good number of years and the orignal actor/actress is unable or doesn't want to reprise the role. Normally if a character wants to leave they get killed off, or are written out in some way. Thats why for me the only option, if Scott were to leave and Brett wanted to stay, is to kill off Oliver, or if Brett wanted to leave as well, then give Kish a sunset ending, write them both out and release Brett from his contract.
