Well, here's the next. I'm sure you all have noticed that I am not getting into the whole wedding, proposal, election biz. I thought the guys had plenty to deal with already, myself. ;-) I'm never quite sure where each chapter is headed but I like finding out what happens next. So here's what I found out. Hope you enjoy! Same ratings etc... ___________________________ Chapter 11 This was trickier than he’d expected. Kyle left Oliver’s thinking of one thing and one thing only, having sex with him. That kiss removed any of the remaining self-restraint he thought he had and crumbled it completely. He didn’t know why this was all happening to him. He liked where things were with Nick and wanted them to continue. It was so frustrating to have this whole other dynamic going on in the background. Honestly, what made him think he could date both of them anyhow? He’d never done anything like it before, but then again, he’d never been in a situation like this before either. Right now, he needed to change gears fast because he couldn’t walk into Nick’s with his head, heart, and let’s face it, body full of wanting Oliver. He got there a lot quicker than he expected and arrived with more than a little bit of Oliver on his mind, but he turned his back on it and knocked on the door. Nick was there immediately. ‘Hey there, you. Come on in.’ Considering last night, Kyle thought he sounded happy and welcoming. Kyle gave him a big hug and kiss to make up for it. ‘Hey, how are you? Looks like you have been working hard.’ The dining room table was stacked with papers and his laptop. Nick gave a quick sigh, ‘Yeah, there’s so much going on with the election and classes. I’m up to my eyeballs. So how are you today? Feeling better?’ Kyle had been looking around the room as he stripped off his jacket. It was a nice place. It was small, but functional and clean. And Nick seemed to have some sense of taste. He at least had ideas about decorating and neatness which Kyle appreciated but didn’t bother with himself. It wasn’t long ago that he barely had money to eat let alone buy things for a place he couldn’t afford. Nick had turned all that around for him. Now there was no fear about cash and his education and work were back on track. All a credit to Nick. These thoughts were interrupted by Nick speaking his name. ‘Hey, Kyle.’ Kyle quickly refocused on him, ‘I’m sorry what did you say?’ ‘I was asking about how your day was today. How are you feeling after last night?’ They had both sat down on the couch. Nick reached out to rub Kyle’s back. ‘Tell me what happened.’ Kyle had hoped to buy a bit more time before getting into the story, but went ahead and told him of his crappy night in the ER, heading to Rodi’s to shake his mood, and accidentally leaving his phone at the hospital. He wasn’t able to see Nick’s face as he retold the next segment of the events but he did what he could to minimize his interaction with Oliver. He ended with, ‘I know you wanted to take care of me, but I was so exhausted I just couldn’t do anymore last night. I hope you understand.’ Nick was quiet and Kyle turned to look at him. Kyle tried again, ‘Come on, Nick. You understand, right?’ Typically, Nick shot straight to the heart of the issue. ‘I understand your need to sleep, I do. I don’t understand your re-involvement with Oliver. And there is some re-involvement. Correct?’ Kyle’s heart sunk; he didn’t miss a trick, Kyle thought. ‘It’s not what you think…’ ‘Then tell me. Exactly.’ Kyle paused for a minute then said, ‘Look, honestly, I don’t know exactly what to tell you. I do feel differently about him somehow. We are working some things out and I think that’s a good thing. I do want to spend more time with him to get it all out in the open. I don’t want it to impact you and me, and I don’t think it will. I need you Nick. My life came back together with you. Just stay with me. I know you can get me through this too.’ Kyle thought he made his feelings sound somewhat reasonable and he hoped they sounded that way to Nick because he meant every word. He did need Nick. He wanted Nick to stay with him. Nick was quiet, evaluating what he had heard. Something didn’t add up right, but he wasn’t sure if it was what he feared the most. Kyle seemed sincere and he wanted to be understanding, but there was something … He put his hands back on Kyle’s neck and shoulders. ‘Look I’m going to have to be honest here and say that I think that perhaps something more is going on between you two, but...’ He continued as Kyle started to protest. ‘I am willing to do what I can to support you as you figure things out. I just want your word, that you will be completely honest with me. Not just about Oliver, but particularly about him. I deserve that Kyle. I’m risking my heart here too. Agreed? You tell me the minute it starts to impact us.’ Kyle swallowed hard. Wasn’t he passed this point already? He purposely turned his mind around on itself again. Maybe he just needed time to get Oliver out of his system. ‘Of course, I’ll tell you. Absolutely.’ As the evening wore on, each began to question the decisions they were making, but neither spoke their conflicted feelings. They went to bed together more out a need for comfort than anything else. They just ended up falling asleep in each other arms. But Kyle dreamt of Oliver. He was flying and his heart felt light as a feather. His body felt the air rush by and support him; making him feel so free and alive. He could do anything. As he felt this empowering rush, he surged toward the ground, magnetized to one spot in particular. He came down through the ceiling of the spot and lay down in a bed. He was not at all surprised to see Oliver there asleep. Kyle wanted to feed him with all the pleasure he was feeling and began to gradually awaken him with his mouth, body, and hands. As he explored, he reveled in finally being able to touch him unhindered; his body, his skin. He felt all the years since they had last been together. It had been too long to finally feel Oliver’s body responding to his touch. Then a word in his head, jerked him back and awake. ‘Kyle.’ Nick was holding his face in his hands and smiling. ‘Hey. I guess you weren’t quite awake yet, but wow. What a fantastic way to wake up.’ He drew Kyle into another kiss as Kyle’s surprise completely overwhelmed him. He pulled back and tried to play it off as he shook his head awake. ‘Hey. Good morning. Yeah, I mean, you’re welcome.’ He also saw the clock passed Nick on the night stand. ‘Oh, wow. I need to get going.’ He immediately rolled away from Nick and got out of bed to put his clothes on. Nick said, ‘You’re okay, right. It’s before the alarm.’ Kyle continued to clamor around the room. ‘Well, not by much. I need to pick up my stuff at home before I head to the hospital. And I’d love to fit in a shower.’ He leaned over the bed to kiss Nick. ‘Sorry to rush out. I’ll call you later, okay?’ Nick made him stay a little bit longer then let him go. He smiled, ‘See you later.’ Kyle didn’t feel like he could breathe. He rushed out of the apartment and out into the street. What was he doing? His stomach lurched to think of what had happened. It didn’t seem real, but it was. Something else was taking him over and he had absolutely no control over it. He walked quickly through the park to the hotel when he careened face first straight into someone coming around the tall hedges. They hit so hard, Kyle nearly fell to his knees. He looked up and unbelievably, saw Oliver. His breath went from him again. ‘Kyle. Hey, are you all right?’ He was picked up and taken to the closest bench. ‘It’s okay. I got you. Just calm down and breathe.’ Kyle was incredulous. He had even heard Oliver say those words before. In his dream! He muttered, ‘I’m okay. I’m just going crazy. Other than that I’m fine.’ Oliver chuckled, ‘Well it’s great running into you any time. You are out early. You must be….’ And as his voice trailed off, Kyle could feel everything change. Oliver got up and moved away from him. ‘You, you were coming from…’ He turned away to try and regain his composure, but Oliver could barely speak. He gave Kyle a backhanded wave and continued to walk away through the park without saying another word. Kyle quickly got up and ran to grab his arm. ‘Oliver, wait,’ he said roughly. Oliver turned to him with pain in his eyes. ‘You wanted me to see you. To feel how you felt, huh? Is that what you wanted to make me feel how you have felt?’ Kyle tried to interject, but Oliver started backing away. ‘Did you do this on purpose? If that’s what you wanted, it worked. I get it. I feel like crap. Thanks, Kyle.’ This time he walked away faster even though Kyle called to him again. Kyle watched him walk out of sight, unbelieving that this was happening. From every angle, it all was impossible to believe. |

By the way, I actually hesitated to put this up when we all know that Oliver has been through the wringer. :waah: But in my story, he actually had a pretty good night last night so it was slightly more bearable. ;-) I would personally like to give both Kyle and Oliver a hug after this chapter. Well, I would just like to give them a hug..period. |
