Title: Everybody Wants Fish, Part 3 SubTitle: Beer Cheer Author: StevenW Creation Date: 4.18.09 Rating: PG-13 Genre: M/M romance Warnings: none Disclaimer: This author is in no way associated with "One Life To Live", ABC, or any actor. These fan fiction stories are not for profit. No copyright infringement is intended. Story Summary: Cristian acts on his fascination with Oliver Fish and Kyle Lewis too! Schuyler and Roxy Balsom make cameo appearances. Author’s Note: This was the original end of this story back in April, but I now plan on continuing it. ====== Angel Square Hotel, late April Oliver Fish enters his home, a room in Llanview’s Angel Square hotel. Oddly enough, it turns out to be just down the hall from Kyle Lewis’ room and one floor below Schuyler Joplin’s room. Seems like a lot of single guys live there. He pulls his kangaroo pouch over his head and carefully places it on the nearby table. He kicks off his shoes and collapses onto the cheap red leatherette couch. He sighs long and hard. Life can be trying and this is one of those times. Cristian Vega knocks at the door. “Oh crap!” The distraught young policeman says aloud. He had forgotten Cristian was coming around. He stands and answers the door without much enthusiasm. “Hey Cristian. Come in.” “Damn!” Cristian notes as he moves past his new friend. “You look like shit.” Oliver shuts the door. “I feel like shit too.” Cristian smiles. “Well, lucky for you, the doctor is now in. And he brought medication.” He displays a six-pack of locally brewed brew. “Come, sit, talk.” “I don’t mean to be rude,” Oliver says, “but can we do this another day? I’m just not good company. All I want to do is take a shower and go to bed.” “Far be it from me to beg, but you’ve put me off twice now. Don’t tell me again, you’re not off tomorrow? How many days in a row can they work you?” “It’s not about that. I’m off tomorrow. I’m actually on suspension now.” The unofficial therapist brightens. “That explains a lot. Tell you what. You go grab your shower. I’ll put these in the fridge and order us a pizza. Then, when you’re done, we can eat, drink, and be merry. It is when a man doesn’t want to talk that he actually needs to.” Fish breaks into a half smile. “You are one strange man, Cristian Vega.” Cristian sets down the beer and starts pushing his friend toward the bathroom. “We’re all strange. Now go. I’ll just watch television while I wait. I think Entertainment Tonight is on. I love that show. All that juicy gossip. And all that blather about who is wearing what.” He shivers visibly. “I just get all tingly.” Fish is all smiles now. “Freak! And I want a BBQ Chicken pizza.” Cristian laughs, “And you call me a freak. That’s not even pizza.” Oliver gathers some fresh clothes and Cristian stows the beer, orders the pizza, and sits vacantly in front of the television. He doesn’t really like Entertainment Tonight. He just said that. His mind is on Layla Williamson, the she-devil. They had actually had a normal moment yesterday. She was distraught over Talia’s death and he had been unlucky enough to comfort her. Only, to his surprise, it wasn’t so bad. But tonight was about Oliver Fish. Cristian was still fascinated with him and to a much lesser extent Kyle Lewis. He wanted his night of male-bonding with the captivating Fish, and nothing was getting him out of this studio apartment, except a serious request from its resident. Oliver emerges wearing navy nylon basketball shorts and a bright orange tank top. “Okay, I’m alive again. Where’s the pizza?” Cristian takes in his colorful new friend and notes his muscled arms. “Ask the pizza guy?” “Where’s the pizza guy?” Fish teases as he plops down on the couch again. Cristian responds quickly. “With the pizza.” “I see you’re a comedian.” “And I see you need to be on this show. That is some outfit. If you are gay, you must not have gotten the fashion gene.” The colorful goof retaliates, “And you must be gay, since you have clearly dressed to impress.” Oliver nods towards Cristian’s clothes, which happen to be quality denim jeans and a too-tight mint-green fishing shirt with the top button undone, revealing a hint of massive pecs. Cristian assesses his outfit and is briefly panicked. He had spent more time than usual dressing for the evening. Fish’s comment now, made him wonder why. Oliver laughs and gets up to retrieve two beers. A knock at the door gets Cristian’s attention. They meet back at the sofa, one with beers, one with pizza, and both with not-so-secret expectations. “I can’t believe BBQ Chicken pizza is your favorite.” The older man notes, just to start conversation. “I didn’t say it was my favorite.” Fish answers, between bites. “It is just what I wanted tonight.” “So you want different things on different nights?” Cristian teases and then wipes BBQ sauce off his chin. “Doesn’t everybody?” Oliver counters. “Are we still talking about pizza?” “Probably not.” Oliver admits in a serious tone. “Why are you really here Cristian? What do you really want from me?” The spotlighted guest swallows hard but doesn’t answer. Instead, he reaches for his beer. “Honestly. Come on, we’re both adults.” Fish presses his point. Cristian decides to come clean. “I don’t really know. I just know you fascinate me and I want to kiss you.” Oliver laughs loudly. “Kiss me?” “Yeah! Since we are being honest. My body really responds to your presence and I’m consumed with thoughts of kissing you.” “Is that the extent of it?” Cristian confesses ‘no’ with his eyes. “Maybe some touching. I’m not sure.” “And in your whole life, I’m the only guy you’ve had these types of feelings for?” “Yes, but…” He pauses to retrieve two more beers. Oliver watches him, eats, and waits. He notes that Cristian is indeed a most handsome man. He seems kind. He is funny. He could be interested. But there is Kyle. He once loved that man. And then there were women. Not many, but a handful, nonetheless. Maybe Cristian wasn’t the only one that had to work something out. “I know you’re just getting back with Kyle. He seems nice. And I’m pretty sure I’m not turning gay. I just have this craving to kiss you.” “I’m not sure I’ve been craved before. I might be flattered.” “Well, I’ve never craved before; a guy, I mean. It just seems like the more I relax into seeing you as an object of desire, the more I desire you. I don’t know what it means.” “I don’t know either. I’ve kind of had the opposite problem. After Kyle I dated women. You know about Layla and Stacey. I went through the motions. I forced the desire. I performed. I tried to relax into it, as you said, but the more I did, the less desire I felt. In short, I’m confused too.” Cristian shakes his head. “I still can’t picture you with Layla. Yesterday I comforted her over Talia’s death. Talia was her friend, but I guess you know that.” Cristian pauses long enough to take in the pain that is suddenly plastered on Oliver’s face. “Oh shit, I’m sorry. I forgot you were on the call with Talia when she was killed.” “It’s okay. I mean it is rough and all to lose a partner, especially when you are a rookie cop. But I was in the front of the house interviewing Marty Saybrook. She was in the back of the house alone. It was her call.” “Is that why you are on suspension?” “No. Well, technically. When a partner is killed you do have an automatic suspension for three days, but in my case, I’m suspended because I did some work on the sly for John McBain. Beau found out. Beau is the Police Commissioner.” “I know Beau. We go way back. And you should know, I’m an ex-con.” “I already know.” Oliver smiles. “I did some checking of my own.” “Oh really!” Cristian teases. “You were that interested?” “Your interest, interested me.” “Well your interest in my interest, interests me even more.” “Enough with the interests.” Fish states, waving his hands about. “That fact has already been established.” He then downs the last bite of his second slice and reaches for his beer. Cristian moves close, real close, and smiles. His hands are free of both pizza and beer. Oliver glances askew at him. “You’re kind of aggressive. If you were blonde you’d remind me of Stacy.” “Enough with the jokes.” Cristian sort of mimics. “Shut up and kiss me.” There is only a brief stare before both sets of hands pull the other man into an intense lip lock, which goes on and on and on. Then those hands begin to wander. In a bit, Oliver pushes away. “Wait! Wait! Are you sure you want this?” “I’m sure. I don’t know why. Maybe I’m having a mid-life crisis or something.” “But Cristian, this is just sex, right? Just two adults with a need, right? We aren’t starting something here, are we?” “Yes. Yes. And I don’t know. Can you live with that?” Oliver assesses the condition of his body. He is suddenly more sexually hungry than he has been in years. He yields to that hunger. “Yeah! I think so.” Cristian breaks into a huge grin. “Be gentle. Or not.” They stand, clothes come off in a wild frenzy, and good use is made of the nearby bed. In about an hour they are back on the couch, barely dressed, and finishing off the remainder of the pizza and beer. They each alternate chewing, swallowing, kissing, and smiling. There is a knock at the door. “Ollie, you there? It’s Kyle.” Cristian and Ollie exchange frozen stares. “What do we do?” Cristian asks, allowing his new partner to take the lead. Oliver Fish shrugs. “Nothing. Kyle and I have no arrangement yet.” He rises and answers the door, revealing most to the surprised Kyle. “Ollie.” He says, his hurt showing. Then he turns to Vega. “You work fast. I give you that.” “Hey!” Cristian shrugs. “I owed him a dessert.” Kyle Lewis responds in haste. “Well, you owe me one of those too.” Cristian smiles. “I do, don’t I?” It takes Kyle a minute for it to register that that was an offer. When it does, he looks at Ollie. “Hey!” Ollie chirps. “We’re all adults here. I could use another dessert.” Then he focuses on the man that made the offer. “But Cristian, do you really want to do this.” Cristian stands and spreads his arms. “When in Rome…” Both Ollie and Cristian move on the slightly dumbfounded Kyle. He offers no resistance to their plying kisses and roaming hands. In no time, the bed is utilized again, and again, and again. In the wee hours of the morning they all three fall asleep. The next morning Cristian is the first to awake. He lies on the left, Ollie in the middle, and Kyle on the right. He notes how Kyle and Ollie are entwined, as if in love. He shakes the sleep from his body and smiles. He still can’t believe he went there. But now, he needs to go elsewhere, so he eases himself out of the bed and into the bathroom, where he relieves himself and then takes a quick quiet shower. When he returns to the bedroom, Ollie is just opening his eyes. “Hey!” The groggy and happy man says, and then, as if on cue, offers his patented grin. Cris is moved, all the way down to the cellular level. That grin of Oliver Fish’s always seems to do that to him. He answers with only a warm smile. “I’m glad to see that smile.” Ollie states, his voice full of relief. “I was afraid I might not see it this morning.” Cris shakes his head no and smiles even broader. “No regrets! Don’t worry about it.” He moves to the bed, sat, and gives his first male lover a genuine morning kiss. The movement awakens the third member of the group, Kyle Lewis. “Morning everyone!” The over-the-moon intern blurts out. “What’s going on?” “Nothing, I’m just dressing. I’ve got to go.” Cristian says. “But that was some night.” Ollie takes the bait. “So are you one of us now?” Cristian answers with a question. “Do you know who you are now?” Kyle and Ollie exchange a brief glance and then answer in unison. “Yes.” “Good.” Cristian says. He then leans over and gives them both a brief kiss. When he tries to withdrawal they pull him back onto them. He laughs and stops struggling. “You didn’t answer Ollie’s question?” Kyle notes playfully. Cristian rolls onto his back, which places him squarely on top of both men, but sideways. He speaks to the ceiling. “The answer is no, I’m not.” “Oh come on!” Kyle rebuts. “After last night. How can you say that?” “Because it’s the truth.” Ollie answers for Chris. Cristian rolls back over. “I see now why you are a cop.” He kisses Oliver tenderly on the lips and then turns his attention to Kyle. “I’m going to remove myself from this relationship now. You take care of him this time.” He kisses the surprised Kyle. “I will. I promise!” Kyle says more to Ollie than Cris. The two men watch as Cristian rises and dresses. Then he departs with no more than a wave and a big grin. Kyle turns toward Oliver. “You are special, Ollie. To me.” “I believe you, Ky. You’re special to me too.” “Ky? You haven’t called me Ky since college.” “I see no reason why Ollie and Ky can’t pick up right where they left off.” Ky rolls on top of Ollie and begins covering him with kisses. Ollie giggles through the pleasure. Life is not so trying on this morning. In the lobby, Schuyler Joplin rushes past Cristian Vega, almost knocking him over. “Hey!” Cristian yells, annoyed. “Sorry! I’m late.” The suspended teacher now-drug-counselor responds. Roxy Balsom chimes in; she can’t help it. “That guy is trouble, if you ask me.” Cristian ambles over to the counter. “Oh, hi Roxy. I didn’t see you there.” “You do look different, Chris. Kind of spacey. Like you’re in a heavy mist and can’t see your eyes in front of your face. And what are you even doing here. You don’t live here.” Cristian ignores all her comments, as most people do, but he is anxious to verbalize to somebody how he feels at the moment. And, since she is the only one around, she will have to do. “Have you ever had the most amazing thing happen, but you don’t want it to happen again, because if it did, it would somehow diminish it?” He looks wide-eyed into her vacant face searching for a connection. He doesn’t see it. “Later Roxy!” “You’ve had sex!” She screams after him. He turns and smiles before leaving. Once outside, he retrieves his cell phone and pulls up Layla’s number, but just before initiating the call, he changes his mind, and snaps the phone shut instead. The near 35 year-old wishes he had someone to talk to about his life and what has happened recently, but he doesn’t. His mother wouldn’t understand and Antonio, well, even if he was around, Cris wasn’t sure he could talk to him either. Not about this. So he just sighs, shrugs, and walks back towards his loft. Maybe painting would help. That frequently did. |

Nukester has a LOT to say about this chapter! EEeeuuu greasey BBQ pizza sauce all over the orange tank top and mint-green fishing shirt! That is so not fashion gene inspired.
Except Nukester read it as "...plying kisses and Roman hands!!!" *tee hee* Uuuuuu, Roxy Balsom! She is the only other character on the show Nukester finds interesting (thus far). What a nice drunk, sharing her bottle with Kyle when he was locked out of his room. [He shoudn't treat her so badly, imho.]
She went on: You've got that air behiind you. But I don't smell a rat, this time. :LMAO: Anyway, with all seriousness, Nukester says it again, your a masterful dialogue writer. I've read LOADS of your stuff and as silly and twisted as I try to be, you deliver on the verbal, interpersonal exchanges between your characters. Well done. Except for the BBQ sauce. They should have used moist toilettes first. They sometimes come with the pizza. Nukester |
