Kyle, Today is graduation day. It should be one of the happiest days of my life, but it's not. It's one of the saddest. In a few hours, we will hold our freshly printed diplomas and our lives no longer entwined. We will have to face the fact that life will lead us in different directions. You will be going to medical school and I will be entering the police academy. I want you to know that I will always treasure our time together. In the past four years, we have experienced the ups and downs of college life. Despite our turbulent first meeting, we eventually became best friends. Through thick and thin, we made a promise to be there for each other. Over time, our bond strengthened. We came to trust and rely on one another for anything. Memories. . .ah, our memories. . .I will cherish them forever. Like the time I had to pull an all-nighter to finish writing a Sociology term paper due by morning. Since I didn't have time to leave the dorm to grab a bite to eat, you bought pizza and made sure I took a break to eat supper. I also remember the endless stream of coffee you made for me, just so I would be able to stay awake and finish my paper to meet my deadline. I also remember last year, when the flu season hit the college campus big time. You refused to go with me to the school's infirmary to get a FREE flu shot. As I recall, you even boosted that you were untouchabl and weren't afraid of any little ole flu bug. Well, big man, that little ole flu bug brought you to your knees, or should I say your bed. . .for days. I was the one who nursed you back to health, because you refused to seek medical attention. I helped you to the bathroom, when you were to weak to go by yourself. Encouraged you to drink to replenish the fluids you lost. Made sure you were warm, as you shivered from the cold. On the road to recovery, you were a grouch! So, I can personally attest to the fact that "doctors make the worst patients"! A few months later, I found out why you didn't want to get a flu shot. You were afraid of needles!! We had a good laugh over that one. Seriously, and with all my heart, I wish you the best of what life has to offer. I'm just sorry that I can't be there to share it with you. I am not the man you want, or need, me to be. I know I hurt you. . .a lot. For that, I'm sorry. Looking at and reading the words, "I'm sorry," seem so trite, but they are filled with so much emotion and meaning. You deserve to be with someone special. Kyle, find someone who is willing and able to stand by your side and share the future with you. Don't let my hurting you harden your heart. Show that special someone what a good and kind heart you have. I consider myself one of the lucky ones who were able to see that side of you. Maybe, if time and circumstances were different. . .our future would have turned out differently. Unfortunately, we have to deal with reality. . .and good-bye. Always, Oliver |

I'm glad you liked my first fanfic FairyPixie and OliverFish! My attempt was to write a letter to show how much Oliver and Kyle meant to each other in college without making it obvious. The reader (Christian) has to read between the lines. I think I pulled it off until I wrote about Oliver telling Kyle to find someone who willing to stand by and love him. I thought that was an obvious give away. I also deliberately avoided using the word "love" or the phrase "I love you." I wanted the letter as a whole to say "I love you." You don't know how much I wanted to end the letter with Love, Oliver. Instead, I chose Always. OliverFishFan. . .I'm your heroine! |

Ah, thank you FairyPixie, for the compliment. It means alot to me, because I don't feel that I am a great writer. I like to think I wrote something from the heart. I'm also one who likes a good romance. I would love to write another Kish fanfic, but I don't have any ideas right now. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

I have an idea! You can write something about Kyle's childhood. It has always been a mystery to me, so it would be cool if you wrote a fic exploring that. |

I'd have to go back and read the answers to the post I asked about Kyle's background. Kyle's background would certainly be a work of fiction! Edited by kishfan, Jul 17 2009, 11:26 AM.
