We know that Oliver wrote Kyle a letter that Cris is going to read next week. What do you think the letter will say? |

Here's my take on it: Kyle, I don't know what happened between us. How do two guys go from friends to best friends to sharing beds to sharing spit (and then some)? It happened so fast I hardly have time to process it all. I know you might think of me as this cute, adorable dork who happened to fall for such a sly fox as you are. The dork part is true, but I actually can have deep feelings that I keep hidden within that I can only tell you through writing. DANG IT, KYLE! You make it so hard for me to withstand your draw, your pull. It's never gonna work out. We're too different. You're too bad while I don't take risks. You like boys, I don't. At least, I think I don't. Besides, my parents would never be down for whatever we have going on. So, yeah. Sorry. Peace, Oliver. Edited by OliverFishFan, Jul 12 2009, 06:31 PM.

Not sure. I think it will depend on if it's an old letter from college that Cristian discovers or if it's one he recently wrote. |

I know I'm harping more on this than I should, but do college kids still really exchange notes/write letters to each other? I'm in my early 30s and by the time I graduated college in 1998, pretty much all communications were done by email. And in Fish's case, because he's a techie and younger than I, I would think it more likely that whatever communications he and Kyle had were done electronically.... Or were Kish old school in their college years and preferred hand written letters instead??? I guess we'll see... |

Well, as someone who graduated college 2 months ago, some people will write letters, but you're right, most of that type of communication is done by e-mail or facebook. Heck, couples break up over facebook. (My one friend, didn't find out her boyfriend dumped her until she logged on and saw that his facebook status said single. What a cruel and cowardly thing to do. I don't recommend that route folks. LOL ) Edited by dkp, Jul 12 2009, 07:00 PM.

See, even when I was in college, my "Fish" and I not only had heated face-to face exchanges but via emails as well. I may have written a letter because I was outside the state and had no access to the computer, but that was a one-time thing. Technology can be such a cruel thing, isn't it? Dumped on facebook? I thought the dumped by Post-it approach on SEX AND THE CITY was harsh. Yikes... |

This is how I imagine it to go sort of (and tried to make it soap operaish) If the letter were written while in college. Dear Kyle, Where to start? I have never felt this way before about anyone ever. You have awakened something in me that I cannot explain. I have thought about your proposal and as you know my father would never accept us being a couple. I am sorry. I will always love you. All my Love, Oliver Fish If the letter were written now. Dear Kyle, I never thought that I would ever see you again after college. You coming back has stirred up something inside of me. I have been trying to live the life of a straight man, but seeing you now I have to admit that I still have feelings for you. Strong feelings. I thought that I could suppress them but I am unable to. I can't ever see you again as much as it hurts me to say. I am trying to make things with Layla work. I want to be straight, for my old man. You will always be my first love. Maybe Cris was snooping on Fish's computer. I would imagine, being the tech geek that he is, that Fish would put a password on that badboy. haha |

I think, because there are pictures of Kyle and Oliver from college that Cris finds pictures of them in college and the letter is from then. I don't see Oliver at the point where he'd be writing Kyle anything. He barely can speak to him. Since it's a letter Oliver wrote and never gave to Kyle, I think it was a letter explaining/expressing his feelings and that he wants to try and make it work. But something happened. He lost his nerve or some outside force interceded and he never sent the letter. But he always kept it.... which says a lot to me. As for the e-mail debate, maybe writing it like that was the only way Oliver could process his feelings. Maybe it made it more real. It might have been a form of intimacy for him. I think we just have to accept that it was an actual snail mail letter (that was never sent) as opposed to an email simply for dramatic purposes. I mean, I see your point--the last time I sent an actual, physical letter was over a decade ago. As for what's in it: I'm going to assume that it's from their college days and is Fish explaining to Kyle why he can no longer see him. That he never sent it--and thus gave no explanation to Kyle for the breakup--may be part of the reason that Kyle has a somewhat bitter take on Fish. Edited by pepe1958, Jul 12 2009, 08:19 PM.
