I think this black mail stuff is post college. I just think that Oliver is using that now as a cover for not wanting to rekindle with Kyle which we all know is BS if you saw the flashback to the kiss he had yesterday. Those guys are not done with each other yet. Not by a long-shot. |

I like luv4kish's ideas. They were planning a future and Oliver got freaked out when it started becoming a little too real and he couldn't figure out how to reconcile both worlds. Kyle has already explained that they broke up because Oliver got scared and chose to break his promise to Kyle rather than tell the truth about who he was. It was fear of losing his parents and not mistrust of Kyle that broke them up. If they broke up because Oliver caught Kyle doing some nefarious deed making Oliver think he couldn't TRUST Kyle, that would change the entire nature of their relationship. It's one thing for Kyle to still have longings for the guy who dumped him out of fear; it's entirely different to have longings for someone who doesn't trust you anymore. That wouldn't work. The nature of homophobia is such that Oliver wouldn't need Kyle to have done something naughty to give Oliver another reason to dump Kyle. The fear that Oliver's parents would find out and disown him is a big enough reason right there. Nah, I like Kyle a little edgy but not inherently a bad person. T'was just an idea- and one I didn't take that far. I wasn't suggesting that something like that was the core of their breaking up- I mean Oliver's clearly deeply into the self-hate right now which would be the main reason, I was literally thinking of ways that could help Oliver convince himself that he was better off getting away from Kyle- I for one would like there to be some complex issues just between the two of them and not to just go "well, it's the parents" as a blanket explanation. Plus I don't think Kyle's blackmailing has made him an inherently bad person- and I did say it wouldn't be Fish he'd done anything to. I'd like there to be some issues on both sides they have to work through. That's literally all I'm saying here. Edited by strangeAwareness, Aug 14 2009, 04:48 PM.
