Part 6 Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters, ABC does. Afternoon, 11 February “Excuse me, but you must be Officer Oliver Fish, am I mistaken?” inquired CJ as he bumped into Fish at the police station. “Right you are,” proudly smiled Fish, who followed with a question: “Who must you be?” “Shame on me. I didn’t introduce myself. I’m Clinton James Roberts, CJ for short. Sarah Roberts ring a bell?” Fish thought for a second, then a lightbulb lit up on his head. “Yeah, Sarah is Layla’s friend. You must be Sarah’s brother. What are you in here for? Great to meet you.” CJ went on to shake Fish’s hand. “Pleasure to meet you too. I was locked up here for a week. DUI, 2nd offense. I’m being released today. I was on my way out until I noticed your name tag. I had been meaning to contact you, but I never had the chance to,” explained CJ. “Oh really? Is there anything you wish to talk to me about?” wondered Fish. “Yeah, you see, I’m Kyle Lewis’s boyfriend and we need to discuss a few things. Is that alright?” asked CJ. “Um, yeah. Why don’t we take this to John’s office? It’s his day off. I think we may need a little privacy,” whispered Fish, who would rather any conversation about Kyle be kept out of earshot. Once they went in John’s office, CJ took a seat. Shortly after locking the door, Fish joined CJ in sitting down. “How are you and Kyle doing? Are you happy with him?” asked Fish. “We are alike in so many ways, it’s not even funny. To answer your question, yes, we are doing fine. I just have one matter of concern,” told CJ. Fish nodded to encourage CJ to say more. “Kyle admitted to me that he can’t get over you, Oliver. Even in bed, he has called me your name, not once, not twice, but three times,” Not believing his ears, Fish gasped in awe. “No way. I haven’t realized that he was so into me,” Fish said, still trying to process what CJ divulged to him. “I told him that you only liked girls and that you were no longer interested in any form of a relationship, but Kyle just wouldn’t listen. Stubborn boy he is.” Laughing in agreement, Fish giggled, “Yeah, you are definitely talking about Kyle here. What you told him is true. A straight guy like me cannot be bothered with Kyle anymore.” His heart sank. Fish knew he was lying a bold-faced lie. “Well, I suggest you discuss that with Kyle sometime. He is only headed for more disappointment and woe. I gotta go, Oliver. I hope to see you sometime again. See ya.” Standing from seat, CJ headed for the door. “Later, CJ. Don’t be a stranger.” As CJ left John’s office, Fish thought about what he said. It never occurred to him that Kyle still had feelings for him. After all his rude behavior towards Kyle, Fish never expected to be so consumed by CJ’s revelation. In many ways, Fish was touched. Afternoon, 11 February “Stacy, what are you doing out here standing in the cold?” asked Kyle, who spotted young Miss Morasco freezing her butt off outside Starbucks. “A few more minutes out here, and you’ll give birth to a popsicle,” “Somebody stole my car, you clown!” shrieked Stacy. “Do you need a lift home?” offered Kyle. “Sure beats walking. I live at the apartment building at Shamrock Rd.,” Stacy then followed Kyle to his F-150 and boarded it. “So, Kyle, looks like you owe me $400 bucks. Rex and Gigi are history, and Rex is slowly warming up to me again. What say you?” “So sure of yourself, aren’t you? Nothing is definite in life. If someone told me back in 07 that I’d be back here in Pennsylvania, I would have laughed them off,” mentioned Kyle. “You’re not originally from here? I can tell you have a hard time driving in an icy climate.” asked Stacy, who saw Kyle struggling to gain traction on his vehicle. “No way. I was born in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, a small town by the Gulf. Much different climate and pace of life down there. I really miss that place. Hardly a need for snow tires. My parents owned a beachfront house and raised my sister and I. We lived a pretty comfortable life. Then, my dad died of heart failure and my mom died of Hepatitis C. I blame medical malpractice. Ever wondered why I want to be a doctor? I don’t want somebody’s to lose their parents like I lost mine. I was crushed, Stacy. I then came to live with my Uncle Ashley in Alabama. He gained control of my parents’ money but he wasted it. Big gambler and drunkard he was. I had to feed myself and put myself through school. Loans, scholarships, odd jobs, yes, even a few unethical deeds. My sister ran away from home. I was all alone. Can you imagine being orphaned at 7 years old and having to make life work for yourself?” asked Kyle. “Our struggles are one and the same, Kyle. My parents were alive yet were nothing to me. They only cared about Gigi and what Gigi wants. Gigi got contacts, I got thick glasses. Gigi got a Chevy, I got a bike. Gigi was the beautiful one with the boyfriend while I was the embarrassment. The only thing that I could possibly be better than my sister was in dancing, so I perfected that craft. So yeah, Rex is the only person to care about me and what I was on the inside, not in comparison to my sister. That’s why it needs to work out between Rex and I. He is my only reason for living. When he knocked Gigi up, I was heartbroken. For the longest time, I thought we could never be together. I’m sure you know what it’s like to have unrequited feelings, don’t you, Kyle?” Stacy’s question really hit Kyle close to home. “Yeah, of course. I was in a relationship in college. Turns out, the other person was not as into it as I was, but I know deep down that this person will never let go of me. After college, obviously let-down by the break-up, I moved back to Mississippi, took a job at a nursing home, even caring for my uncle Ashley during the last years of his life. He told me, on his deathbed, that my old folks bequeathed me the beachfront property. I could have sold it to pay for college, but it was my last link to my early years. It was damaged by Hurricane Katrina, but I want to come back there once I get crap in order. I want to renovate the house over there and raise my family by the beach,” sighed Kyle. “I’m glad that you’re thinking of the future, Kyle. I think about the future too. The future I’m going to share with Junior and Rex, that is. March the 31st cannot come soon enough,” glowed Stacy, who rubbed her belly. “I think you miscalculated your due date, Stacy. I actually had a conversation with Rex. The only time you slept with him was June the 9th.” Stacy was shocked at how Rex could divulge something like that. “Your point being?” the blonde asked. “Your presumed due date is about a month off,” explained Kyle. “That would be true, if Rex was actually the father. March the 31st is the due date, Kyle,” Declared Stacy. “Wow, I can’t believe you will actually pass off another man’s child as Rex’s. That’s low, even for you,” scolded a sickened Kyle. “I wasn’t gonna lose $20,000 that easily, Mister Lewis. I know how to play hard ball. I’ve learned a few things in Vegas, take that. Ha!” cackled Stacy. “What makes you think this child isn’t Rex’s, though?” asked Kyle, now extremely curious. “I took a pregnancy test every week since I slept with Rex. Besides, a girl knows her own body, I’m sure you learned a thing or two about the female body, you Physiology major. Figure it out,” challenged Stacy. “No need to say any more. I know what you’re talking about. I’m just shocked that you could pull it off, that’s all,” coughed Kyle. “Well, since Rex couldn’t do the job. I had to turn to somebody else. Thank goodness, I had a male friend who would do everything I told him to do. He had a secret. I threatened to tell the world. So I traded my silence for one night with him,” mentioned Stacy. “Who exactly is this guy, Stacy?” asked Kyle. Stacy opened her mouth to say… End of Part 6 Note: The next chapter is the last one for this series, so stay tuned. Thanks for all the love, guys. Edited by OliverFishFan, Jul 17 2009, 08:55 PM.
