Part 2 Afternoon, 8 July “Why are you so quiet, Fish? I asked you a question,” pressed Stacy while trying to get Fish’s attention. His back was turned from her. “So, I guess you’re queer, right?” Upon hearing that statement, Fish turned to face Stacy, “I wouldn’t put it that way. Stacy, it didn’t mean anything. Just a bunch of dumb frat boys fooling around. Please believe me. I am nothing like those guys on Bravo,” begged Fish. He was basically on his knees scrambling to influence Stacy’s thinking. “First of all, say it. Don’t spray it. Your pixie dust just hit my face. Second, I would believe you if you didn’t tell me that you were in love with this…fa…fe…fellow fudgepacker,” Crossing her arms, the blonde gave Fish a stern glare. “No, Stacy. No! Don’t use those very mean slurs on me. I’m not like that. I s-sl-slept with you! No, please. You d-d-don’t understand. It’s all a big mix-up. I’m a real man, please rem-m-member that.” stuttered Fish, who was being shoved towards the edge. It became harder and harder for the young cop to fight back tears. Rolling her eyes, Stacy groaned, “Save the pathetic butt boy groveling for someone who cares. Look, I didn’t go through life pulling that puppy dog act. I took action. My sister, you know, stole Rex away from me and got knocked up. That didn’t stop me. I took action. I took up dancing, lost the braces, and got contacts. I knew I could win back Rex’s heart. I just had to change a few things about me,” Taking a seat on the couch, Fish contemplated Stacy’s words for a moment. “So, what do you mean to tell me?” he asked. “The other cops would not appreciate having to work with a fairy boy like you. Oh, and that Rihanna girlfriend of yours? She’ll never speak to you again. Ditto for your other roommate. Cris would be so weirded out, he would go as far away from you as he can before you can say “Adios, mi amigo!” In short, your friendships, your reputation, and your life are not worth a piece of another guy’s bratwurst!” Stacy declared. She saw Fish’s eyes painfully dart to the floor. “This is not the way I planned it, Stacy. I want to be hetero, like my dad, like Cris, like my colleagues,” Fish whispered in a weak whimper. “Prove it to me,” uttered a detached Stacy, with an agenda forming in her mind… Afternoon, 12 July Kyle was walking home through the park from a one-on-one basketball game with a friend at the community court. He happened to spot Stacy lying down on a picnic mat on the lawn with sunscreen. “Can’t afford the tanning salon? So much for your Rex Balsom meal ticket,” chuckled Kyle. Stacy rolled over and recognized the raspy voice. “FYI, Kyle, if it weren’t for you opening up your big trap, Rex would have never known about that idiotic stem cell mix-up.” Miss Morasco was not about to let her buttons be pushed that day. Laughing her rant off, Kyle replied, “Mix-up? You lied about being Rex’s nephew’s stem cell donor. Hardly a mix-up.” Not wanting to hear Kyle’s accusations, Stacy stuck a finger in her ear, mouthed a “blah blah blah”, pretending not to listen. “Oh, please. You are such a saint too, Kyle,” “I would never endanger a child’s life. I do a lot of things, no question about that, but I would never put a child at risk,” answered Kyle. He thought back to his own childhood, where there was much uncertainty, even uncertainty over where his next meal will come from. This solemn proclamation was met by a yawn on Stacy’s part. “Ahhhw, anyhow, Rex won’t be out of my life for too long. We shared, and still share, something precious. He’ll be back. In fact, I’ll put $20,000 that Rex gave me on it. You, Kyle? If Rex is not back in my arms by April of 2010, I owe you 20 grand. If he is, which is the scenario that is going to happen, you owe me 400 bucks. Deal?” Stacy smirked while offering Kyle her hand. He shook it. “4 benjamins only? Fine, I’m gonna need all the cash I can get. You’re a true Vegas girl. Good luck at getting him away from Gigi. She’s a ferocious beast, take it from me,” He then made his way out of the park. Mumbling to herself, Stacy said slyly, “You have no idea, Lewis. You have already lost.” Night, 14 July There was a clatter of activity that disrupted a quiet dinner that Fish, Layla, and Cris shared. Stacy was out at the clubs. “Can someone check to see what’s going on? I prefer to have my dinner in peace,” whined Layla. ”Then you go outside to check, Miss Fussy,” retorted Cris. Annoyed by the constant bickering, Fish got up from his seat and volunteered himself outside. He saw Kyle unpacking a bunch of boxes, suitcases, and crates inside the apartment across the hall. Instantly, he shouted, “Stealing anything, Kyle?” Hearing Fish, Kyle motioned his head. That is one voice he cannot miss. Kyle threw Fish a wink. “Meet your new neighbor, me.” A bullet train cannot go quicker than the rate Fish’s face turned white with terror. “Are…you s-st-stalking me now?” asked Fish. The last thing he ever wanted was to go to sleep at night knowing Kyle was just a few feet away. “I didn’t even know you lived here…Oliver,” Kyle answered. Not many people called Fish by his first name and got away with it. The med student was determined to be one of the few. “Still hung up on me? Well, drop it, Kyle. I never was into you. A lot of girls are lining up to be with me, haven’t you heard?” As much as Fish wanted a smug, macho man, demeanor to show before Kyle, both of them knew that it was a hapless act. “I’m sure the girls all want to be with you. They find you attractive. So do I,” sneered Kyle, who rested both his hands on the cop’s biceps and started feeling them. Sweat tore through Fish’s pores as the air around him started getting really warm. Quickly, with an awkward jerk, he withdrew from Kyle and backed towards the door. “You will not corrupt me…again.” He then made his way back to the apartment while Kyle snorted at hilarity of the moment. End of Part 2 Note: Thanks for all the support and commentary. Part 3 will be up soon. |
