*Author's Note: It's about 1 am. I'm so addicted to Kish and they're not even completely official yet. I haven't seen anything fan related for them yet, so I'm giving this a shot. When I write fanfics, I usually only write one-shots. So let's see what happens. Story is called "Falling Slowly" - title of a song by The Frames that I just love.* Kyle is at the gym, running on the treadmill. When he starts to get tired, he stops and gets off it and wipes his brow with a towel. He turns around and bumps into someone. That someone is none other than...Oliver Fish. "I'm so sorry," Fish says at first unaware of who he has just bumped into. When he notices it's Kyle, his heart skips a beat. He remembers back to when he first bumped into him at college and what his first impression of him was then: "I don't know you, But I want you All the more for that Words fall through me And always fool me And I can't react." To Fish's surprise, his impression and more importantly, his feelings haven't changed. "No need to be sorry." Kyle says with a smile. "Fish, man, I haven't seen you in ages. How you been?" "I've been good. I'm a police officer now." Fish says with pride, playing along with Kyle's cool candor. "That's great, Fish. I'm a lab tech at the hospital, finishing up med school." Fish smiles. "Looks like we're both going after our dreams." Just then, Fish's phone rings. "Excuse me while I take this. Duty calls." He says with an awkward laugh. Fish takes the call and is surprised to what he hears on the other end. Kyle is in big legal trouble. Is that really a surprise? Kyle has always been known to be a "bad boy" - it's part of what attracted Fish to him in the first place. But he can't let him hurt him...not again. He hangs up and abruptly leaves the gym, without so much as a goodbye to Kyle. "Fish! Where are you going?!" Kyle calls after him, but he's already out the door of the gym, leaving Kyle behind. Which is nothing new to him. "And games that never amount To more than they're meant Will play themselves out" Later on, back at his new home with Cristian and Layla, Fish has the courage to ask Layla out on a date. And she says yes. He takes her out to see a concert at Capricorn. Cristian is bartending that night and he is not at all happy to see Layla with Fish. Not because Fish isn't a good guy, but because he has developed deep feelings for Layla. But he wants her to be happy. Kyle, too also happens to be at Capricorn. He spots Layla & Fish and his heart sinks. "Take this sinking boat and point it home We've still got time Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice You'll make it now" Kyle walks up to them. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but Fish I need to talk to you." Fish looks up at him in shock and anger. "Kyle, I'm on a date man, can it.." Before he can finish his sentence, Kyle cuts him off "Yea, I know. My point exactly." He turns to Layla. "Excuse us." He says as he tugs Fish up from the table and pulls him aside. "Kyle, what are you doing?!" "What am I doing?! You're the one on a date with a chick!" Fish gets flustered. "Oliver, this is part of the reason why we didn't work." "You can't blame our break up on me, Kyle." "I'm not. I know I made mistakes. God knows I made mistakes. But at one point, you used to love me regardless of my flaws. But you can't be happy until you accept yourself for you who are. And that person, that man....that man is the one I love." "What are you saying?" "I always loved you, Oliver. But it's hard to love you if you can't love yourself first." "Falling slowly, eyes that know me And I can't go back Moods that take me and erase me And I'm painted black You have suffered enough And warred with yourself It's time that you won" "So what are we supposed to do, Kyle?" "You mean there's no rule & law book on love?" Fish glares at Kyle. "I'm sorry, bad timing for a joke that wasn't all that funny. But honestly, I really don't know what to do or where to go from here. It broke my heart...it broke me when you left. That you weren't happy with me because you weren't comfortable with yourself." "I didn't leave just because of that. You broke my heart, too." "Two wrongs definitely don't make a right, huh? I'm sorry, so deeply sorry for what I have done. But more than anything...I want you back. I want us back. But I can only have that if you want it, too." "I do want it. More than anything." "Then tell me one thing. Why are you here on a date with a girl?" "She is a nice girl. Who happens to be my room mate. But you were right about something. I'm not comfortable dating men." Kyle flinches. "But it's not for the reason you think. I am happy with myself. I haven't been on a date with a man because...because no other man can compare to you. Nobody can. And no relationship can compare to what we had. You say I wasn't happy...you couldn't be more wrong. I was the happiest I've ever been when I was with you. It was your trouble with the law and seeing you hurt that made me unhappy. Kyle...I...I love you. Always have, always will." Kyle finally does what he wanted to do when they bumped into each other. He pulls Fish in and gives him a passionate kiss. "Take this sinking boat and point it home We've still got time Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice You've made it now Falling slowly sing your melody I'll sing along." Oh, and I liked that you wove in musical lyrics into your work. Very creative. I think I'm gonna title mine Christmas in the KAD House 1996. ;) |

Thank you! =) I think "Falling Slowly" is such a beautiful song, just like Kish ;) So I tried to intertwine it and make it fit - hoping it wasn't just random. But I think it worked out ok. Ah, Love the title! I'm excited! =D |

Ooh, pressure. :$ :nervous: LOLZ I need you to help me, though. What would be a good way to get them to start talking? A shared work-out session in the living room? or watching TV together in the den? I've got the conversation all planned out. I just need to spice it up with a setting. ;) |
