![]() Shinjo: These provinces do not cover much ground. The lands are mostly broad plains bordered by impassable mountains. Their greatest resource is horses. Their steeds are the swiftest in all of Rokugan. Shinjo horses are rarely exported outside the Unicorn clan. Those that are, are generally of lesser quality or gelded to keep them from being bred. Shiro Shinjo: Built to reflect a variety of cultures, castle Shinjo is unlike any other structure in Rokugan. It is small compared to other major family homes. Even so, it is a luxurious estate, furnished with all the comforts the Shinjo have discovered during their travels in the Empire and aboard. The house serves as a place to meet visitors, a retreat for Unicorn samurai who prefer the finer things and a shelter from the winter storms. Utaku: The fierce Utaku claim the northeastern regions of Unicorn lands as their own. These provinces have the fewest natural resources among the clan’s lands, and the Utaku derive great pride from working and settling such lands. The endless plains of these lands have often been called the “maze with no walls.” Visitors are warned not le leave sight of a landmark, as even those with experience in the wild have often lost their way once the Uiaku cities give way to endless rolling plains. Shiro Utaku Shojo: Compared to the other Utaku holdings, Shiro Utaku Shojo is a paradise of unequaled lushness land beauty. Resides in the center of Unicorn lands. Iuchi: The Iuchi ten the southeastern Unicorn provinces composed mostly of peaceful grasslands and the Spine of the World Mountians. The Iuchi plains are luch and beautiful. There are few natural landmarks in the region, the plains are green, dotted with wildlife. Shiro Iuchi: The Iuchi family’s ancestral stronghold is an impressive structure, dominated by a tower that stands a dizzying height above the castle’s other structures. An omnipresent scattering of clouds flits about its apex, giving the castle its nickname—Gatherer of Winds. On the inside, Shiro Iuchi is surprisingly well prepared for visitors from other clans. Shiro Iuchi once served as the central point of diplomatic relations for the Unicorn Clan shortly after Ki-Rin’s Exodus. Ide: The Ide currently hold the southernmost Unicorn lands. It allows them to keep a close eye upon the Shonomen Forest as well as keep a cultural exchange with the Scorpion Clan’s Soshi family. The Ide provinces are bordered on the north by the Seikitsu Mountains. Shiro Ide: The Ide family’s ancestral home was founded in 817, two years after the Unicorn’s return to Rokugan. By 820, the castle was finished and the Unicorn had one of their first permanent strongholds. Sparing no expense, they crafted a castle that was both beautiful and functional. Located to the northeast of Chrysanthemum Lake and crafted to visually meld with the surrounding area. The stronghold’s spires and edges blend in so well with the Seikitsu Mountain’s snow-capped peaks that many visitors cannot tell exactly how tall the castle is. It has eight levels above ground for the castle’s day to day operations and one below ground used as both storage and a shelter in times of need. Seikitsu Pass: This area was once one of two major paths through the Spine of the World Mountains, along with Beiden Pass. Edited by Kayenta Moenkopi, May 8 2010, 10:44 PM.
