A small farming village lay below him, and he could see countless people blithely making their living and food for their families. As he watched, he saw the farm animals and bumper crops being harvested. He knew from long experience that such harvests were always welcomed, though much would be sold as this village didn't have the storage capacity to hold all of the food here that they were now harvesting. A vehicle commonly used to transport goods soon ambled up to the village, where it waited for farmers and merchants to discuss how much would be sold to other cities and villages, and where such goods would be sent to. He nods his head slowly, sadly as he knows that the harvest will arrive a bit sooner than those people below expect, and it'll be too soon for most of them to die. Denshor, his body cast in shadow by the small forest near the village, can only hope that when that harvest occurs, he'll be bale to stop it somehow, though Denshor wasn't too thrilled with going up against them himself, for matters of honor... Denshor knew he had to stop them somehow, but the idea of going up against his own species, that wasn't something that anyone other than himself had contemplated before, within his own species before... Denshor created an illusion of humanity, so that a casual observer in or out town wouldn't know his species. They might realize that he was a demon, but his human form would let it be known that he while still a demon, wished to be human instead. This type of deceptions wasn't uncommon, so his disguise wouldn't be compromised, as his demonic aura when sensed wasn't of his species, but whatever species he'd passed by recently. His species has no scent glands, so they hold on to the scents from around them, allowing the to mingle into their own unique scent of demon, human, or whatever scents needed. Thus, when a nondescript human walked into town, no one was the wiser about his true species, as none had seen his species in over 10,000 years. None remained who fought them directly, and only murals in ruined areas showed that the Negama ever existed. Denshor walked into the farm village, intent on gathering information as a somewhat lost traveler looking for the capital city. His clothing was of the country that he's in, and they're a bit faded and threadbare, to make it look like he's been in this country for a long time. Denshor walked up to the first person he encountered in the village. Denshor: Hello, I'm looking for the capital city, but I haven't been in these parts before. Usually I'm up north, on the north side of the capital, but I had a special order for the city of Balden (Just made up a name of a town deeper in this country to the south of this village), and this is my first trip through this part of our country. Do you know how I might get to the capital city? |

Ryumaru, who was visiting the small town for the harvest, just happened to the first person Denshor encountered in the village. "The capital? That's where I'm from. Just follow the main road here in town towards the northwest and you can't miss it." He then took out a small capsule with a button on it, pressed the button and threw it onto the road, where it poofed into a full-sized hover car. "Here, I'll take ya myself. I was just thinking about leaving anyway." He went into the car and waited for the other guy to do the same. |

Denshor inwardly was raising a non existent eyebrow, though with his disguise he merely nodded, and got into the vehicle. As he sat down, he used the proper restraint devices this vehicle employed, and waited for movement. As an afterthought, he spoke again to the person beside him.\ Denshor: My name is Denshor by the way. What's yours? Though Denshor introduces his name, he doesn't extend his hand, as the illusion only partially covers his species appearance, and more than the contact of himself against the seat isn't advised, as you can tell he isn't human. |

Once Denshor got in, he quickly started the car, causing it to near-silently lift several feet off the ground, and drove off down the road at high speeds. "Ryumaru Akagane, but my friends call me Ryuu." After a few minutes of silence, a thought came to him and he tried to start a conversation. "So... Denshor, is it? That's an odd name... I've never heard anything quite like it before, even up north..." He then sniffed the air, but picked up no unique scent from him. "So you can give up the act now... Youkai." |

Denshor's human form merely smiled: Hmhm. Believe me, it's better you not know me in that manner. Yes, I am Youkai (Demon right? Youki may indicate the noun, but is Youkai the adjective version? I'd prefer to use proper grammar when possible with other languages.), though some might not be against that. My name is my name. Not two ways about it. just as your name is 'Ryumaru', or Ryu, my name is just that, my name. As for being a demon... (Shrugs) I cannot change my origins, so there's little interest in that sort of sophistry. Besides, I do have business at the capital, and I did help the humans out in Balden. They were dealing with a particular poison that only seemed to affect a few people, and no one else. I recognized that poison which was spoken of, and my reputation was high enough to allow me into a quarantined area, but not high enough to attract attention. (Obviously, Denshor is speaking of his human guise. He's been around humans for a while, so many know of him in the human terms.) Denshor: I'd seen that poison before, and creating a counter to it is NOT easy, as is the transferring of the antidote to the subject. The poison is very long life, and quite resilient to all forms of medicine, so strong that healing artes don't have an effect on it at all. Only another quarantined plant can over come that poison, as it's even more resilient, but not an airborne toxin. Denshor let Ryu chew on that last part of the airborne a little bit, as the poison that Denshor was talking wsa the first one. The one that originally plagued the village was the airborne one, and not the plants own toxin. Denshor: One toxin had to run out the other, and then the plants own toxin had to be cleansed from their system. Not the easiest task to accomplish, though possible for the second poison. Thus, you had to poison them again, to cure them from the first toxin, then cure the second one. Quite ironic in some ways, but not something most people know about. (Denshor looks Ryu in the eyes) This isn't something that the news reports have touched on, as the government has asked them not to talk about such information. Such a poison has no cure, only a counter poison. The news would have it be known that a plants toxin mutated, and was quickly cured, but such a poison isn't cured, it only dies with time. |

(Youkai (妖怪) is/are supernatural being(s), though "Demon(s)" is a common, but incorrect, translation. Youki (妖気) is the name of the "energy", or Ki, of Youkai. Japanese doesn't work like English, they don't alter words to change them from nouns to adjectives or anything like that... they only add things for grammar changes, what few that exist.) Ryumaru listened to Denshor's story as he drove. He didn't seem to be lying, but he still got the feeling that he was hiding something. "Hmmm... Interesting. Well, you don't need to worry..." He pushed back his hair with one hand, revealing his pointed ears for a moment before putting his hand back on the wheel. "...I'm a Hanyou. I don't mind that you are a Youkai, nor do a lot of people these days. With Ki manipulation being common practice, a human can easily match the strength of a Youkai, and people have no reason to fear them. Remove any disguise you might be wearing, there's no real reason for it." (In case you forgot or don't know, a Hanyou is a Half-Human, Half-Youkai hybrid, usually a Human mother and a Youkai father. For an example from an anime, Inuyasha is probably the best known one.) |

Denshor visibly prickles at the invitation to doff his disguise, knowing better of his species past. Denshor: I think not, for obvious but subtle reasons. Besides, I need to deliver this (Gets out a plant container, the kind usually used for quarantined plants) back to the pharmacy in the Capital city, and a few there know me, so they don't mind. Considering... My kind was never welcomed, and with our record, I doubt that will change. Denshor looks outside of the vehicle for a moment before continuing. Denshor: Though fear might not motivate others to attack, smugness and a feeling of superiority would easily incite someone to attack another for their most trifling differences, even in today's society. At the capital for example, there is a growing contention between the government and the religious leaders. The government will NOT incite rash action by creating laws to oppress others, and the church leaders wish to do just that. Many have already been removed from their homes for their own safety, but the followers of the renegade leaders of the church pursue those that they consider 'condemned'. These 'condemned' can only hide for so long, and not always can they hide in time. The problem is, to fight the followers of the renegades would show devision, and an attempt to support the condemned by keeping them alive, making it appear that the government was growing corrupt. The current monarch is walking a fine line, and that line only grows thinner as time passes. This will boil over soon enough, and I hope that for everyone's sake, that it doesn't result in a bloodbath at the palace, as it'll be a slaughter from the start. The Church has gained too much military power, and it will not recede it any more than they have to, bit by bit. |

Ryumaru was beginning to grow tired of Denshor's one track mind. "My kind this, my kind that... Is that all you care about? I know that plant is important already, I get that, and I'm aware that there are a few religious groups who still hate Youkai, but I think your knowledge is a bit outdated. This so called 'Church' you speak of has not existed for a long time now, and what few religions remain now as no influence over the government, mostly thanks the revision of the Church-Isolation act which prevent politicians from actively practicing any form of religion. While I can understand your fears based on that, every major power in the main cities that hates and or fears Youkai is now gone... I would know, considering how important such details are to a Hanyou like myself. The only reason I hide my Youkai traits is so I can have a hidden trick up my sleeve. But enough about me... Just what exactly is your kind? You can't be preferring to the fact that you're a Youkai." |

Denshor: (Scoffs) You damn me with faint praise. As to my kind, for now it's best that you don't know until you fight one for yourself. Then you may realize how much I'm protecting you by not discussion their presence. Secret societies and known rebellions are still prevalent even in todays societies. When you sneak around towns and such you can pick up on these conspiracies. One thing leads to another, and you have a war. Even today, there are still weapons that can be turned against each other. Or did you not know that there are many Youkai that have lost their homes and lives to these so called 'dead conspirators' that you believe don't exist? I have many friends among humans and other species, so I have hidden allies where ever I may need to go. They all tell me of things that delight the wicked, but none so terrible as your religious leaders say in secret. Everywhere you go, there will always be those who think they can do a better job than someone else, and have the power to step on those in their way. |

Ryumaru sighed at how sure he was of some evil Anti-Youkai super-power hidden within the major cities, and gave up on trying to convince him otherwise. He had been to the bad parts of several major cities, and even revealed his Hanyou nature while there, but never once did he actually run into an Anti-Youkai group of any kind. The only ones he heard about were on television, and even then, they almost never attacked anyone, usually resorting to protesting and the like. "Fine, you win... even though I still say it's all in your head." The two then reached the city borders and let Denshor lead them to the location he was needing to go with that plant. Once there, he set the car down to the ground, got out, and waited for Denshor to do the same before taking out a tiny remote with only a single button from his pocket and pressed it, which caused the car to compress back into it's capsule form. "Flat space... you gonna love it." He then picked up the capsule and put it and the remove back in his pocket. "Ok, Denshor, let's go... and we better hurry for the Shinigami [Death God(s)] show up." (The Shinigami are basically the Grim Reaper, or rather Reapers, of this world. They are a powerful race of Youkai who's job is to guide the souls of the dead to their final resting place, as well as slay dying people who cling to life.) |
