Regular Forum Have no other gods before the Most High
What is a god? Ideologically speaking it is anything that might be worshiped. Practically speaking, it is anything that is any force outside of ourselves upon which we place confidence or give personal allegiance. David probably put it most succinctly in Psalm 20:7,saying, "Some trust in chariots, some in horses, but we will remember the Name of the Lord our God."

Regular Forum Have no association with idolatry
An idol is an object of worship. Sometimes the idol is the substance of the worship itself. Sometimes it is an iconic representation of a greater force, personality or power.

Regular Forum Do not lift up the Name of God emptily
Most commonly this is rendered, "Take not the Name of the Lord your God in vain." But, it is much more than enunciating a sound that represents deity without reverence. It is, in a broadest sense, identifying with God personally; but assuming that He does not have the power or interest to meet your present need. Hebrews 11:6 is probably best at describing this: "That without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

Regular Forum Remember and keep the Sabbath Day holy
Commonly, we assume that "the Sabbath Day" is representing the seventh day of the Gregorian calendar week (that would be Saturday). There are those who disagree with this for a variety of reasons and we can entertain that discussion; but unless otherwise stated, we're talking about Saturday. But the Sabbath Days are more than just the weekly ritual observance. There are seven other annual Sabbaths in the biblical calendar, plus the Sabbatical year and the year of Jubilee which both have compelling theological implications.

Regular Forum Honor your father and mother
Partially, the command to love father and mother is listed among the commands that are God-word because it divides the list equally and makes things neat for us. But the idea is repeated in Scripture that our relationship with God is mirrored through our relationship with our parents. The manner in which we perceive and act upon this special human relationship bears direct impact upon the manner in which we are able to interact with our heavenly Father. So, if you have a bad relationship with your parents, guess what? There are very likely barriers very similar in your ability to understand and accept the realities of your relationship with God.
