underground prison feels very familiar to me, like i've heard that melody before. i'm not sure if i have or not; it's a distinct possibility, given my rpg maker days. it also feels kind of reminiscent of breath of fire III's ost. battle 5 is just silly. you're silly. battle 6 has a cool main melody, although the song as a whole doesn't really evoke any kind of feelings of conflict or tension. it feels really chill and smooth, like something i'd hear in a bar rather than a battle. maybe i'd just have to see it in context. battle 2 is pretty cool. i don't have much else to say about that. these are silly. you're silly. actually all of the arc the lad songs i've heard so far have been really silly |

hey! speaking of silly. i haven't talked about the Deadly Premonition soundtrack here yet, even though I kind of completely love it. Deadly Premonition's ost has some incredible moments of off-kilter character (something shared by the game itself). Life is Beautiful FBI Special Agent ILUVMOV this song plays while you chase a dog while running with a fat man. this off-kilter character can even penetrate some of the more "serious" songs, as well, like: The Red Room The Red Tree Despite that, however, I think my favorite songs from the game are the ones that eschew that kind of goofier style for something a bit more cerebral and serious; still identifiable as Deadly Premonition, but in a different way. (also read as: top 3 favorite songs) Zach and York this is by far my favorite from the game. it has this fantastically romantic sense of personal thought, of a calming yet melancholy solitude; it is, in my eyes, incredibly cerebral. Greenvale this starts off on a somewhat similar note as the previous song, except it replaces its sense of isolated loneliness with one tinging towards a more communal grandeur; in the process, ditching the more cerebral and calming effect of the previous with a more mischievous, hardened edge. this song really starts to come into its own around 1:45 and on. its awkward in miss stiletto heels, although it doesn't really feel like that until after the song starts going. in my personally case, its kind of charmingly so. i don't really notice much in the way of awkwardness in regards to the other songs. most of them just exist as their own thing well enough that i can't really compare them to anything else. i like the vocal version of Greenvale.
