Code:

I'm having trouble getting the tables in the right shape/position etc. Anyone care to help me out?

Why don't you just take a look at the source code with your browser?

I have copied and pasted it here just in case ^_^

Spoiler: click to toggle

Don't know if that is right tho, since I don't know much about html at all :$ But good luck anyway ^_^

Nah, I can't just copy and paste the source code. Cause we haven't even learned a lot of the suff thats in that code. it doesn't have to be identical to the site either, just as close as I'm able to do

I never said anything about copying the whole thing right of. I just meant that perhaps you can find the answers you seek there, such as the sizes of the borders and perhaps even how to make some of them.
I am strictly against cheating in that way, but having a sneaky-peak can't hurt anyone ;)

Crap, I thought it could help, since I don't know much html, if any at all :ermm:
But can it really be that hard to find that in the books?
I assume you got some theory book from school where you can read about it, else it is just mean of the teacher to give you an assignment like that

You can always try to pick out a part at the time and test it :P Trial and error is a good way to learn ;)

Well the majority of that is JS, and seeing as how you dont seem to know html, then you prolly dont know JavaScript. You could copy and paste, which would be easy, just move the tables a little and change the colors. Or you could actually do it?

If you have Fireworks, or photoshop, then you can draw a similar image and slice it. I dont use or even like tables, but thats how i would do it, then you have to export as html.

To be honest, there isn't much you can do with tables in HTML. CSS is much better and by the looks of that website they're using CSS to get the tables to overlap. With HTML you can't really do much with tables except make the basic table with a background color, padding, font color, ect.

I don't really know where to help you at because your question is so vague, do you mean the overlapping of the menu? The tables next to each other? What part of the tables?
