Hi all, I'd love to find some kind of African music band to play some music at the beginning of my wedding reception in October at St. Ouens Manor but I'm living over in the UK now and I'm finding it difficult to find if anything exists. Can anyone help give me some leads? best wishes Vikki |

Hi Vikki Two problems here Vikki. I with my partner organise the largest wedding fayres in Jersey. I also film weddings so there is a large experience of what happens in the Jersey wedding place. I have also asked some of the music groups within the island. Result the cupboard is bare we just do not know of any African Bands. Secondly there is unfortunately a noise restriction for bands at St Ouens Manor & for any other similar venues in the Island. So you will have to be careful with the sound volume. An alternative would be a CD playing although it is appreciated that this is not very spectacular compared to a live band. If you give me a ring on 01534 482742 I can put you in touch with local groups who participate at our wedding fayres. Regards Laurie |

Hi Laurie, Thanks so much for taking the time to look into this. I am aware of the noise restriction at St. Ouens but Nigel at Vibert marquees was saying that choral groups or acoustic things are fine - it's load amped up bands we'd have to be careful of. I'm thinking of playing a CD/ipod during dinner so I'll probably go a different direction for pre-dinner and look at one of the various string groups/bossa bassline type thing etc that I have the details for from coming going to various Jersey wedding fayres. Once again, many thanks Vikki |
