YOUR WEDDING VIDEO FILM As produced by Laurie Stewart. What do you as a Bride & Groom want from a wedding video film. What do you expect? What are you going to get. An unedited video with the glitches removed, a few added titles strung to the video with a few pieces of music thrown in. The Heirloom. You will be surprised with a professionally crafted filmed & edited production which tells the story of a few days before, the rehearsal & the whole of your wedding day. A film of charm which will become, in your family, a priceless heirloom. The Entertainment. Can you imagine in your dreams an eight minute film of your wedding projected on a large screen, on the dance floor, for all your guests immediately before your first dance. Your guests have not seen the groom & best man arrive, they will have not seen, & probably never will see even on film, you & your bridesmaids arrive at the church. They will have seen only the backs of your heads during the ceremony. This Same Day Edit will provide all those normally lost pleasures & incredibly emotional moments to your guests on the wedding night. A film of emotion, fun, at times complete hilarity. It starts the night entertainment on a high. Amazingly, as the guests are captive & the first dance follows the film without any delay, this has resulted, in every case, the dancing continuing for the rest of the evening rather than the usual empty dance floor after the first dance has finished Videography Standards. What you must look for in choosing your videographer. Standards have escalated within the wedding video industry within the last 5 years. For a guarantee of consistency ensure your videographer has qualified & or has been re examined in the last 5 years. The standard of the APV & IOV have risen enormously both in quality & codes of what are expected from a professional videographer. I joined the Institute of Vieography (IOV approx 8 years ago) & qualified. For certain reasons I left & joined the APV which attracts only professional vidoegraphers & film makers. I qualified with the APV with a distinction. The citation included “the panel approved of your innovative approach to the Wedding video genre, & it was considered to be at the top level in terms of production quality”. What can you expect & what questions should you ask. What does your filming consist of? In my case I use four cameras. This produces an all round & detailed coverage of the whole wedding. The use of multi cameras allows one camera to be used in an imaginative & speculative manner. Good close ups which would not be practically possible with a one or even a two camera shoot. Editing the wedding film. The four camera shoot allows the editor such a luxury of material. It allows close up shots to be mixed with medium & long shots of the wedding shoot. A change of scene shot in the region of 5 secs each scene. The result is a crafted story & professional film of your wedding. This is an edited film taking some 40 hours to construct as opposed to a ribbon of film with glitches extracted. On average 10 tapes of film are recorded on a wedding day. 700 min of film. Due to the superb cameras used, with powerful lens, this is filmed with minimum intrusion into the enjoyment of you & your guests. Sound Quality. Most important as poor audio can spoil the whole film. In the church on average of 3 mics are used. Vows, Lectern & Altar positions are covered to produce superb clear sound with out the usual echo obtained in a poor video set up. Each word is recorded with absolute clarity. The alternative. Poor quality sound resulting from the single mic. fixed to the camera. Pre wedding Day. Filming with the Bride & Groom at L’Etacq to record their thoughts on their coming marriage. Rehearsal. Cameos of those taking part in the ceremony. Essential as all are dressed casually contrasting with the next day’s ceremony. Guest's greetings. All the guests are recorded with their greetings to the Bride & Groom. These are not set up they are filmed in relaxed groups as they enjoy pre dinner drinks. A very essential personal & at times hilarious feature. Also a record of all those there on the day. Speeches. Three cameras are used. Featuring close ups of the speaker, wide angles of the guests & a roving camera. The roving camera will, for instance when the Groom mentions his Bride, focus a close up of the Bride. An instant reaction camera providing an intimacy & warmth to the film. All cameras are situated on the periphery & out of the way of the guests The First Dance. Filmed using 2 or three cameras depending on the circumstances. Long shots & very close up shots of the Bride & Grooms face. The cameras are situated unobtrusively & well clear from the dance floor Kaleidoscope After the film has been edited the Bride & Groom provide their favourate piece of romantic music. I take the best shots through out the wedding & integrate these with this piece of music. Providing a Kaleidoscope of the story of the whole wedding in approx 3 to 4 minutes. Very poignant, intimate & emotional. At my last demonstration the Bridesmaid burst into tears despite not knowing the Bride & Groom being shown on screen. I am dedicated to producing top wedding films which depict the story of the Bride & Grooms day. Gimmicks or set ups for effect are definitely not used. I film to express what actually happens naturally on the day without intrusion. To obtain the emotions & fun of all that happens on the Bride & Grooms day of a life time. A couple of years ago a photographer, at a wedding I was filming, told me that the Bride was sad that I had not turned up to film her wedding. Four cameras were in the church filming the whole ceremony from start to finish with long shots medium shots & close up shots. 300 minutes of film recorded & she did not notice the cameras.
