One of the few holidays that Maldrid got to be away from the Academy was here. He had been excited to visit his father and mother along with the fact that the whole family could be together again after being separated for quite some time. The usual thing that would happen when they were together as a family again would be to go out into the city and do an activity together. This time it was going to the Grand Arena where they would watch famous battles be reenacted and to see gladatorial combat. It was an exciting prospect for all of them. As he and his family got out of the royal carriage they walked towards the private entrance for nobles and royalty with guards surrounding them to ensure their safety. The large structure loomed over them like a giant. The booming cheers of the audience that was already inside could be heard to anyone who would be entering. The entrance that the Balief royal family was about to enter had a very luxurious yet nonchalant design. The fine engravings on and around the entrance were almost lifelike. When they got to the entrance the ushers at the door opened it for them. They walked through a hallway with carpet and exotic flora that decorated it. Maldrid would always be in awe that the people of Balief could create such wonderful items. After arriving at their booth the contingent of guards that were with them waited outside the door of the booth. Some of the guards went inside before them to ensure that the coast was clear. After they had checked their seats the royal family went inside. As they arrived in view of the public cheers went out among the crowd that were deafening. Maldrid noticed they were all standing up out of respect for them. After all of his family sat down the rest of the crowd sat down after them. "It's so humbling to me that our people would do such a thing for us," Maldrid said in total humility. "If you rule well, then your people will have great respect for what you do for them. Remember this Maldrid, don't let all the grandeur get to your head. They are just fortunate by-products for us as royalty. In the end it all means nothing," King Jonathan said to his son. After the King had spoken to Maldrid a crier arrived in the center of the arena and raised his hands calling for silence. "Welcome all to the Grand Arena! Today you will be seeing the finest of warriors fight for fame and glory!" The crowd cheered to the crier in excitement. "Today you shall see a historical reenactment of a battle fought long ages ago! A battle between a hoard of barbarions against our great nation! Ladies and Gentlemen let the battle commence!" With that the crier ran off the field into a door and dissappeared from sight. "Are they really going to kill each other?" Maldrid said to his Father as the soldiers lined up in the arena. "No, not really. You see, the weapons they use are dulled so as to not provoke any injury. If we had death matches all the time we'd run out of good warriors within a few years." Maldrid's father said with a hint of sarcasm. This brought on chuckles from the rest of the family. Maldrid sat back and watched as the mock battle proceeded. ((ooc: blehhh. I hope it's okay! xD )) --- What was he doing? The Grand Arena was no place for a young man such as himself. People fought here, something Nikkolai had come to abhor over the course of his young life. Of course, the matches weren’t always to the death; there were a lot of reenactments in which no one got hurt, it was only acting. Still, he wished he had thought this decision through a little more before he had come here. This was one of the few times he was actually allotted time to come home and visit his mother, as he was usually at the academy assisting Seth in some way; he probably could have given up the chance to come to the Arena to spend more time at the house. It needed work, that much was certain - the paint was chipping and, well, all in all, it needed to be taken care of a little better. He almost felt guilty for being here now, even though his mother had basically pushed him into going. ‘You need to take more time for yourself,’ she had said, handing him money before pushing him out the door. That had been the end of the discussion, and now here he was, sitting in the stands with his stomach in knots. It was just a reenactment, no one was going to really die. These people who had families, people who cared for them, nothing was going to happen to them. But it didn’t change the fact that Nikki was completely, totally against it. Almost in a haze, he stood up with the rest of the crowd, applauding the royal family of Balief, and sat down the rest of the patrons as well. His gaze locked on the crier, but he didn’t seem to really hear what the man was saying. By that point, Nikkolai had gotten up again and was making his way out of the seats in the stands, needing to get as far away as possible from the violence, even if it was fake. There were certain things in life that were simply intolerable, and for Nikkolai, bloodshed was one of them. Especially when it was for nothing for than pure amusement. Once he had gotten away from the stands and he was sufficiently out of earshot of the ‘battle’, Nikkolai relaxed, placing his hands on his hips and telling himself to just breathe. That was what he needed to do, after all. Just breathe, he told himself, looking around the grand stadium and debating whether or not it was time to go home. |

OOC: No, it's just fine IC: Maldrid watched as the soldiers started their performance. The side that was the barbarians were unorganized and had no general formations. They were yelling and screaming at the soldiers that portrayed Balief soldiers from long ago. The Balief soldiers stood silently with discipline clear in their ranks. In these mock battles they didn't use archers. The arrows could easily injure the performers and any spectators in the stands if a couple of arrows strayed too far. So the battles were typically between infantry and sometimes cavalry. The Balief soldiers then started to bang their shields and armor in perfect unison for psychological effect against their enemy. With that they proceeded to slowly advance towards the barbarians. This made the barbarians stir even greater in fear. After what seemed like an eternity the barbarian leader yelled out "Charge!" The unorganized ranks of the barbarian horde charged forward into the ranks of the Balief soldiers. The army of Balief held their ranks and placed their shields in between them and the barbarians. After that they proceeded to stab their swords into the enemy's ranks. This brought on howls of pain and agony from the barbarians. Even though they were acting it out, it seemed very convincing that people were actually dying out in the field. Then something happened that seemed to be total folly to Maldrid. The Balief army broke their ranks and scattered around the barbarians and attacked from all sided. This was an indeed risky move on the account of the Balief army but the tactic seemed to be working. Also the crowd was howling in excitement as they got to see more action. After about fifteen minutes the battle was finished and the Balief soldiers then rose their weapons and was calling for applause. This brought on a good deal of cheers from the audience. "I think I'll go back inside to get one of the peasant foods," Maldrid said. "Why would you want to do that? You aren't satisfied with what the cooks here bring us?" Maldrid's mother said. "No, it's not that. I find that even peasant foods can be quite delicious too." With that, Maldrid got up from his seat and proceeded inside. A personal bodyguard that was assigned to him walked forward to proceed with Maldrid. "No, not this time. I am very well capable of defending myself," Maldrid said to the guard. He didn't want to be pestered by a guard today and wanted the freedom of doing whatever he wanted by himself. The guard then saluted and waited by the door. Maldrid walked into the large hallway of nobility and proceeded in a direction that would lead him towards where the common people would go about to buy various goods. It was like a mini marketplace inside the Grand Arena, to Maldrid's surprise there weren't many people here. In fact this place looked almost empty. Maldrid concluded to himself that the crowds were too excited in the moment of the Balief army's victory over the barbarians to leave the stands. Another thing came to mind, the seats were on a first come first serve basis. There weren't any tickets that were sold for the seats, so anyone who came could just randomly take a seat anywhere they chose. If you got out of your seat you risked having it taken. Maldrid continued around the inside of the Grand Arena and noticed not much that seemed interesting to him at the moment. Perhaps a bit of time outside would be best for him right now. Maldrid walked out of the Arena into fresh air. Maldrid stretched a bit and continued walking and noticed a citizen to the side that didn't look so well. In fact that person was somewhat pale. Maldrid approached him, "Are you all right? You look a little pale." |

"Are you all right? You look a little pale." That was strange; Nikkolai hadn’t even heard the other approach. Was he that disconcerted? Looking up from the ground, the blonde lifted a hand to move locks of his long hair out of his face. His brows knit as he looked at the other; there was something vaguely familiar about the male, but he couldn’t place it. They appeared to be about the same age, at the very least - maybe they both went to the Academy? The other was dressed well, so it wasn’t too far of a guess. Nikkolai didn’t know the faces of the royal family well enough to know right away just who Maldrid was, but he wasn’t incapable of making some sort of educated guess. After observing him for a few moments, Nikkolai straightened himself, reaching into a pocket in his trousers to retrieve a white ribbon. He began pulling his long hair into a ponytail, offering an appreciative smile and a shrug. “Yes, I’m fine, thank you,” he assured, tying the silky fabric in a knot. “It was just- I wish I hadn’t come here. I seem to lack common sense.” Nikki forced a laugh. “Fighting, it uh, it makes me really squeamish. I have a lot of issues watching it, even if it’s just a reenactment. Blame the hair color for the bad decision.” He laughed, hands falling against his thighs before he slid them to his hips. “Thanks for the concern though - I hope you’re not missing anything you wanted to watch.” Deciding it would be rude if he didn’t give a proper introduction, Nikkolai extended his right hand. “Nikkolai Virendra - Nikki,” he said, that infectious smile he was so famous for coming to his face. “And you are?” |

OOC: Ack! Short post. IC: After Nikki had introduced himself Maldrid debated weather or not to give out his real name or to make up a name from another noble house. Though the consequences of telling his real name wasn't too much of an issue. Sometimes though there would be those that would wish harm to anyone of royalty because they either view the royals in a negative way, they might have differing opinions about how the kingdom should be run, or they hope to somehow increase their social standing by killing or harming royalty. In this instance though Maldrid felt that revealing his true identity was not something that would put him in danger. Though the reaction from Nikki might be something that Maldrid would rather not see. Maldrid chuckled silently to himself as he said smiling back, "I'm Maldrid. It's nice to meet you Nikki. I can understand somewhat about how you feel about the shows that happen in the Arena. It isn't something that is for everyone. Oh well, to each his own I guess." |

"Yeah! Kill the bastards!" Jackie shouted. Oh, how she loved the arena! Normally, Rashiel dreaded these occasions, to be forced to spend time with her parents and their constant nagging at her. But she was pleasantly surprised at how well it was going so far. Down in the arena, Jackie watched with eager eyes as the barbarian horde descended upon the stoic guardians. Despite all of it being staged, the action seemed real enough, and to be truthful, Rashiel wished it was real. The bloodshed and carnage, triumph and loss, it was all so glorious. Those in the stands went crazy as the soldiers massacred the mob that had descended upon them. And Jackie too was whipped into a frenzy. "Woooooo! Smash 'em into the ground! Yeah!" She shouted again. "Rashiel, calm yourself..." Her mother said with a smile. But Jackie knew that smile. The same smile every noble wore. It was a mask, acting. What her mother was really saying was, "Rashiel, don't embarrass me..." And yet again, one of her parents managed to sour mood. Grumbling, she folder her arms and fell back into her seat. From her peripheral vision she saw her little brother get up and wander off back inside, toward the commoner section. Do-hoho! What's this, now? Jackie thought with a sly grin. She often thought of her brother as too serious, taking too much after her father, but now he was wandering off without his guard? Something was amiss. Rashiel looked over to her mother. "I'll be back in a second." She whispered. Her mother did not inquire, happy for a moments respite from her daughter. Quickly she got up, waving off the guard before he could start following her, and trailed off after her brother, hiding behind pillars and corners as she went. Eventually, she spied him meeting up with another young man, looking roughly the same age as Maldrid. But Jackie couldn't spy any details from her vantage point. Nonchalantly, Rashiel wandered over to where the two were speaking, her eyes fixed on the newcomer. "Oh, you devil! I didn't know you had friends!" Rashiel said, poking fun at her brother. Finally up close, she saw just how attractive he was. Blue eyes, long blonde hair. Jackie bit her lip as she took him in. "My name is Rashiel, but you can call me Jackie." She said bluntly, walking uncomfortably close to the blond haired boy, stopping only a few inches from his face. "...whats your name?" She asked with a wink. Maldrid? As in... the prince? Nikkolai blinked, blue eyes growing wide as he stared at the other. No wonder he’d appeared so familiar! That meant he attended Noble Heart, so that had to have been where Nikki had seen him. He himself wasn’t really a ‘student’ there; anything he learned in that school came from Seth. “Oh wow,” he breathed after a moment, raising the hand he had extended and scratching the back of his head nervously. “I had no idea that was you! I feel really stupid now, no wonder I thought I knew you...” Heat rushed to his cheeks and he laughed awkwardly, sufficiently abashed for the time being. As if things couldn’t become any more uncomfortable, a woman approached the two of them. Nikkolai turned to look over at her; with the way she was treating Maldrid, they were clearly family. That only meant one thing - this woman had to be the crowned princess of Balief! Oh dear gods, he was meeting two royals in one day! Sure, he went to the school with the majority of them, but it wasn’t like he ever really spoke to them unless it was necessary! They were both so much higher than him in social rank, Nikki would never have dreamed of approaching them. Couldn’t he potentially get in trouble for this? Wouldn’t one of their guards think he was trying to hurt them or trying to do something awful, or... or... or something? The last thing he wanted was a difficult situation, he didn’t want to make anyone’s lives harder, theirs or his own included. Rashiel leaned in close to him, causing Nikki’s face to darken even more, a few edgy giggles escaping betwixt his lips. “Ah, hi Princess, ehehe,” he tried, clearing his throat and taking a step back to ensure his personal space. Once that bubble was back, he tried to act as normal as he possibly could, offering her a sweet smile. “I’m Nikkolai - Nikki.” He nodded, although he still felt a bit off with the way she was acting. What was she doing, speaking to him like that, coming so close, and winking? It was... odd! "That's, uh, very nice of you to allow me to address you so casually! Ehehe." He turned to include Maldrid in his gaze as well, taking a deep breath. “It’s wonderful to meet you both,” he said. “Do you both go to that school...? I feel like I’ve seen you both before -” A particularly loud roar sounded from the crowd within the stadium. “... Are you two sure I’m not distracting you? Really, I’m okay, just a little unnerved, that’s all, promise....” Edited by Nikkolai Virendra, Oct 11 2009, 08:50 PM.

Before Maldrid could reply to what Nikki had said, his sister Rashiel walked up behind him and said sarcastically, "Oh, you devil! I didn't know you had friends!" That being said Maldrid lifted his head up to the sky and rolled his eyes. "Did you think that I'd not have any friends at all?" He said this with a heavily sarcastic tone to his sister. While he did have a good relationship with his sister, they both would seemingly tease each other about most everything out of the ordinary. When he turned towards her he noticed something strange in her demeanor. She was biting her lip and before Maldrid even knew it Rashiel was only a few inches away from Nikki causing him to turn many shades of red. Maldrid stared wide-eyed at his sister's audacity. She definitely was carefree, that was for certain. Rashiel didn't seem to have a care in the world for embarrassing herself or others around her, she seemed to not care at all what others thought. Maldrid then went up to his sister and pushed her away from Nikki hopefully ending his embarrassment. He smiled and chuckled awkwardly to Nikki and then turned to his sister with a stern face. "Rashiel! Don't you know any better? I think you scared him half to death!" Maldrid said this in a chastising tone. |

He's shy. That is so adorable! Rashiel thought, watching the young man blush. Such a rare quality in men, or at least upper class ones, always feeling that they have to be macho in front of her. And he obviously did not know how to talk to girls, but Jackie would change that, all in good time. Before she knew it she was being prodded away from Nikki and reprimanded by her younger brother. "Oh, pshaw! I swear you grow more and more like dad every day." She said, dismissing Maldrid's condescending tone. Jackie returned her gaze back to the angel-boy. "Nikki. That's a pretty name." She said, changing her tactics. She knew how to talk to shy boys, she would just have to be a bit more conservative. "I apologize, I can be a bit awkward sometimes. Always locked up in that castle, I don't get to see much contact with the outside world. But if you want... Maybe sometime you could come and visit?" She inquired, putting on her best smile. "I'll show you around the entire castle! It'll be great fun~" Jackie finished, nervously twirling a lock of hair with her index finger. "You can't escape the cute"
|
Evals sat in the crowd apaheticly. They weren't really going to kill each other, she already knew that. It didn't keep her from being entertained slightly. Would be more fun if it was just some guy being beaten up by someone else. Instead it was almost fair combat. Oh well, make do with what she had. Ignoring really the rest of her family, and started to drift away from the fight she watched people in the crowd. They were cheering, nothing too interesting happening there. When Maldrid left she didn't notice, but when Rashiel also went after him that's when she got curious at what they were doing. Oh well, they'd probably be back in a minute or two. Boring older teenage stuff maybe. She watched as Kaelen, her spider crawled about on her hand instead of the show for now. Now, if someone had got stabbed in the throat that'd be much more funny. When the two older siblings didn't reappear, she got up and slicked off. It was obviously going to be more fun than sitting there. Would she ever make up her mind? No, that would never happen. It took her only a minute to remember where they went. Outside of the arena sort of. She wondered if Mom and Dad even noticed. When outside, Evals found them at least. They were talking to someone, she approached them quickly and behind Maldrid. She tugged on his shirt a bit. "What are you two doing?" She imposed curiously and looked at the boy that they were talking to. Of course, everyone was older than her. "Who's this? Someone fun?" She piped up again hoping that it would be, fun people were fun of course. |

Nikki coughed as Maldrid pushed his sister away and scolded her, uncertain how to react. He didn’t want Rashiel to get in trouble just because he had reacted so poorly, but he wasn’t one to get involved in the affairs of other families. Maybe this was common for her? Even so, he didn’t know exactly what she had done wrong - girls just made Nikki feel awkward, it wasn’t her fault! “No - don’t, I mean, Maldrid- Prince-” His throat closed on him and he sighed, deciding that perhaps maybe it was best to let the two of them handle it themselves. The blush intensified as the princess complimented his name. “Thanks,” he said. It seemed that the king and queen had done something right with their children, for they were both incredibly kind. “A lot of people think it’s a girl’s name, b-but you know, that’s okay.” He laughed nervously, uncertain how he was really supposed to react. The more she spoke, the more he really didn’t know what to do. “Me? Visit the castle?” Nikkolai blinked, utterly dumbfounded. What would she want him to do that for? Why would she even make that offer? It was kind, he wouldn’t deny that, just... surprising. “I-I mean, if you want me to. But am I even allowed to do that? I mean... it’s the castle, and I’m not royalty, I mean my mom is kind of rich, but we’re not really... well I mean...” He just kept digging his hole deeper, didn’t he? And, out of no where, another one appeared behind Maldrid. Nikki’s brows lifted - another of the Balief children? Oh gods, three of them up close and all in one day! “Um, well, I’d hope I’m someone fun!” he laughed. He’d always been relatively good at talking with kids, so maybe she’d be easier to talk to than her sister. |

Maldrid heard Nikki suddenly unsure how to address him. Maldrid turned over to Nikki and talked to him with a reassuring smile, "You can just call me Maldrid for now. This isn't a formal setting." Maldrid was a little embarrassed because of his sister suddenly flirting with Nikki just moments after she'd met him, and now she had just invited him to the castle! Just how far was this woman willing to go? Nikki was obviously very uncomfortable with the situation that has unfolded right before them. What had simply began as a way for Maldrid to go out and get some food had turned into a rather embarrassing situation for all of them. Oh, well. I suppose it could be worse, Maldrid thought. After which he felt a slight tug on the back of his shirt. "What are you two doing?" Maldrid turned to see his youngest sister behind him. Good lord! the next thing I know our parents and other brother will be out here. Man, I think he'll have a heart attack by day's end. Maldrid had rolled his eyes and shut them. "Who's this? Someone fun?"Maldrid heard Evals say. “Um, well, I’d hope I’m someone fun!” Nikki then laughed a bit after he had said this. "Well, it seems you've been acquainted with most of the family. I suppose it couldn't hurt to have you come over. Nikki you seem familiar, have I seen you at the academy?" Maldrid was curious as to why Nikki looked strangely familiar. |

Before Nikki could respond to her invitation, another of the Balief children showed up. Evals, her younger sister, this time. "Emily," Jackie started to say, preferring her sister's middle name over her first, "What are you doing here? You shouldn't wander off by yourself. But I guess you take after you big sister, doncha?" Rashiel said, particularly proud of herself. Maybe some of her good qualities were starting to rub off on Evals. She knew her little sister all too well, and more often then not she gave Jackie the creeps. Maybe it is just a phase? Regardless, Maldrid and Rashiel finally seemed to be on the same page, her younger brother also extending an invitation to the castle. But Jackie didn't want it to be a family thing, she wanted him to herself. But as Maldrid kept talking to Nikki, she thought of a great idea. "Oh! You both go to the Noble Heart Academy?! Get out! I graduated from there last year! You know what would be fun? I'll throw a party! Everyone from the Academy is invited, teachers and all!" Jackie blurted out, already excited at the prospect of a celebration. Not that there was anything to celebrate, but that hardly mattered. "Then it's decided! I'll go talk to mother about it right now!" Rashiel said before any interjections could be made. "And I'll see you there. Bye Nikki~" Jackie added with a wink, before walking back the way she came. Evals gave her weird smile when, who she assumed was Nikki from what they called him, hoped he was a fun person. That was good enough, wonder how it mind was. Scrambled or boiled. She took a glance at her older sister that wasn't very natural. Taking after her? The chances of that were like the castle walls falling from having pinecones thrown at it. Without warning Kaelen had crawled out onto her face and pretty much stay there on her cheek as she looked back to her elder brother and this so called Nikki. "I was curious." Was the only thing the young girl said after a short moment of silence. When Rashiel started to go on about the academy, it seemed to be the topic of dicussion. She only stayed and listened because this might be more interesting than seeing people fight each other with dulled weapons. If everyone was invited from the Academy, surely she was as well. What trouble could be caused at a party? It would take a little while of thinking maybe, or maybe she should pick on a single person. After Rashiel left though, Evals watched her leave before speaking up. "She is such a spazz." Her comment was directed at both of them, wondering if Maldrid would agree and how first impressions got onto Nikki. Turning to him she smiled, Kaelen was gone by now. "Pleasure to meet you, Nikki, unless I'm wrong about the name. Now, how do you perfer to be disemboweled. Spoons or ragged metal?" Of course she made it sound so innocent, she would never do that to someone for no reason though. |

Nikkolai nodded slowly in response to Maldrid’s question before abruptly stopping. “Mrm, you probably have,” he responded. “I’m in a... complex situation there though. I’m sort of a student but kind-of-not-really, and I also help out Seth, the magic teacher? I’m his assistant.” Not like he really helped out in the classroom much, unless Seth needed him for a demonstration for whatever reason. He was just there to run errands or perform other small tasks for the man. ... A party? Dumfounded, Nikki’s gaze locked on Rashiel, and his head cocked to the side. It was obvious she meant well and was just trying to be kind, and he couldn’t blame her for that. Since she was going to be queen one day it was probably a good thing that she was so social. A smile broke out on Nikki’s lips and he nodded enthusiastically, supposing a celebration would be fun enough - and maybe he and Seth could go together. “It should be fun!” he agreed as she began to turn away. “I hope your mother says yes!” He laughed, shaking off her wink and that odd tone. Was he officially friends with the royal children now or something similar? Oh, dear... Although he wasn’t one to talk about people after they left, Nikki turned to Maldrid, shrugging. “She sure is... energetic,” he said, nodding his head. That was really the best word he was capable of coming up with that even began to describe her. He laughed as the younger sister called her a spazz, shrugging and looking down at the little girl. “Is she?” he asked. “I’m not sure how nice of a thing that is to say about your sister, but... that might very well be true.” He was about to assure Evals that she had gotten his name correct when she posed the question of how he would like be eviscerated. The young man stood there, looking at her with his blue eyes grown wide. “... What?” he choked out. That didn’t sound like something a little girl should be talking about! “Um... I’d prefer to not be disemboweled, if... if, you know, that’s okay with you...” He laughed anxiously, half-wondering if he should just go along with it. “I do kinda need those organs, you know. But um, if I had to, I’d prefer the spoon...” Almost desperately he turned his eyes to Maldrid, asking softly, “Is she always like this?” |

"She is such a spazz." Maldrid heard his youngest sister say. He didn't usually think ill of his older sister but in this case he couldn't help but to agree. "Indeed," Maldrid said in reply to both Nikki and Evals. Maldrid looked hopelessly up into the air. It was typical for his sister to plan parties whenever she got the slightest excuse. She had been a partygoer for as long as he could remember. It was a wonder to him how she'd one day be queen and rule over all of Balief. He just hoped that she'd change for the better in her later years. "Pleasure to meet you, Nikki, unless I'm wrong about the name. Now, how do you perfer to be disemboweled. Spoons or ragged metal?" Maldrid was appalled at what his sister was saying. Then again she was also typically like this. Though Maldrid knew that she had this sadistic humor, he only wished she'd stop it. It often creeped anyone out that met her. Maldrid went over to his sister and looked down on her, "Evals, you know better than to do that. I know you like to make jokes like that, but please! It makes people wonder about your sanity. Even me sometimes." “Is she always like this?” Maldrid turned to Nikki. "She is, unfortunately. Makes me wonder if she's really sane or not," He made sure to say this quietly to Nikki so that Evals couldn't hear him. |

Evals smiled still when they agreed about her older sister. Of course they agreed with her, she was rarely wrong. Well, in her mind anyways. After that, she awaited Nikki to answer the question and see his reaction. He seemed almost speechless about the suddenness that involved it. Also the words itself probably. Obviously very uncomfortable with what said, she pulled out a small wooden spoon that she had in her pocket. Why it was there, well she had a soup earlier. Not important. She just held the spoon in plain sight, but not waving it in anyone's face. After his answer it was of course the spoon, she held it under her arm as she took out a folded piece of paper and some lead wrapped in string. She wrote down his name and with spoon next to it. No real reason, but collecting answers from the different people she asked. "Spoon then, noted incase the information is ever needed." She said and put the stuff back into a pocket underneath her dress, which she still loathed. Looking up to Maldrid she gave him her innocent smile when her sanity was questioned. "What sanity? I sold that to get Kaelen I think." She said like it was no big deal, a bit of joking thrown behind it. They said something she didn't catch, but it was obviously about her. She walked up to Nikki and waited until she was noticed before saying anything else. "So you work for Seth, right?" Inquired, Evals remembered him saying something about that. "Next time you see him, tell him his favorite student says Hi." Was she even his favorite student? She was there and probably annoying, all she knew. Wonder if Seth would know who Nikki was talking about if the message was given. "As for the disembowel thingy, would a free hug make you feel better?" She offered with her arms out; doubting she would get one, but wouldn't mind it. |

The way Maldrid scolded her was almost comical - it was as if she did this so often it was expected from her. Could a little girl really be so disturbed? Weren’t kids supposed to be innocent, happy-go-lucky, and occasionally snotty little brats? Nikkolai never thought he’d come across a child that was so sadistic and morbid... “... She was just joking?” Nikki blinked, glancing between the girl and her older brother. What an odd sense of humor she possessed; but he supposed that was what made the world go round. No one was the same, even if she was a bit... well, weird, for lack of a better word. In just as soft a voice as Maldrid had used, he assured, “I’m sure she’s sane - nothing wrong with, uh, being a bit... different.” ... Oh gods. Oh dear gods, she actually had a spoon. Did she plan on using it?! This was a public place, there was no way she could -- actually, she probably could. She was a princess, and this was an arena were violence was encouraged. Nikki gulped, hoping Maldrid would prevent her from doing something regrettable. Even if she was a kid, Nikki wasn’t very masculine and he wasn’t very strong, either... Luckily, though, she was only taking note. Unnerving as it was, Nikki managed to give her a bit of a smile. At least she didn’t plan on maiming him. “Who’s Kaelen?” he asked with mild interest. He knew enough to know she was only joking. “Yes, I work for Seth,” he said with a nod before laughing. “I’ll make sure to tell him. What’s your name? And a hug would make me feel better.” He leaned down, spreading his arms and enveloping her in a light embrace. |

Maldrid didn't react when the spoon came out. It seemed that Evals would often try to run psychological tests on the random people she met. This made Maldrid laugh more often than not, but her little tests had now reached the category where people would run after being asked her questions. Maldrid worried for her sometimes, though he supposed she kinda knew what she was doing. He just hoped the little games she played wouldn't go too far. Maldrid couldn't help but laugh as he saw the sweat beading up on Nikki's forehead. Did he actually think that she'd eviscerate him in the middle of the road in plain view of the public. The Baliefs would then be accused of being raging tyrants and that was something Maldrid wouldn't stand for. Maldrid knew that Evals would not actually kill someone, she just had a sadistic sense of humor. "Who's Kaelen?," Maldrid heard Nikki ask. "Oh, nothing. It just happens to be my sister's pet spider," Maldrid replied. |

Evals hugged Nikki until he let go and then she stepped back a bit. She pocketed the spoon again, for now. While Maldrid answered the question she ran her fingers through her hair to straighten it and out of habit. With that she searched herself gently for her pet spider to show Nikki, maybe he'd want to see it. Not a lot of people did, and Nikki did seem to lack a spine, but he couldn't be afraid of spiders two. That'd just be too much, next she knew he was homosexual as well. Aha, way too much for one person she thought. After finding Kaelen resting behind her ear she had him crawl onto her finger and held him out towards Nikki, though at a distance if he tried to swat at him. "This is Kaelen, you can pet him if you want." She said innocently, still not seeing the problem with having a pet spider. Sure most people didn't, but this was one of the few things she didn't do to creep people out. Kaelen was awesome and stuff! "Also, my name is Evals, but don't tell him my name unless he can't guess who I am." She said talking about Seth, wanting to make people think a little bit was slightly amusing. |
