It was a rather fine day if she didn't say so herself, the sun was out and there was barely a cloud in the azure sky for miles on end. It was a day to let all inhibitions go and to enjoy oneself while you could. There was definitely a spring in her step beside the obvious limp in her stride, her leg wasn't paining her as much as it once had and she was healing fast but there was still a way to go until she was fully recovered once more. The pain had been worth it she mused, she wasn't alone anymore and despite being a Panthera, the Leo now named Maethor didn't judge his ward to be able to protect herself without him around, the lord was strolling casually along side the elf with his head held proudly high and his tail occasionally batting the female every now and then to correct her posture. "How elf girl dance if posture no good. Head high. Back straight" His chiding was used in a fond tone, his burning orange eyes watching her movements for flaws as she walked, he was taking it easy on her while she recovered but he wouldn't be as lenient once she was back to her full strength and ability.

Jessabella examined the way the male moved, his muscles moving under his sandy cold fur and the molten orange of his frill was just evident from it's resting place against the back of his neck. She couldn't beleave that she had bonded to him and found herself pinching her arms every now and then to check that she wasn't sleeping, but nope she was very much awake and the knowledge filled her with warmth and comfort, with Maethor she could face any challenge that was pushed her way! She also had no doubts that she would never be this slack muscled again, he seemed driven to have her body turned into the perfect fighting mechanism. Chuckling she smiled, she didn't mind after all she was the one that thought she had been getting soft and flabby lately.

"okay, got it Maethor" She straightened her posture and felt the pull on her muscles she had forgotten had existed until this point in her life, by the time they would rest she was sure that she would sleep like the dead. Focusing on her back she continued her stroll the Panthera beside her occasionally offering a word of wisdom or advice to the elf girl

((Okay, open means I can join, right? Sorry, I'm REALLY new to RPing, but I love to write, soo...))
Esperanza strolled along the mountain path. She loved the outdoors, no matter the weather, but this was an especially beautiful day. Not a cloud in the bright blue sky, the sun rained down on Esperanza's tanned face, absorbing the warmth. She twirled around in the small clearing, dancing in the sun, her knee-length orange skirt flying. She loved the sun. Warm, sunny days like this reminded her of her home in Mexico.
Starting to feel dizzy, she stopped twirling. Suddenly, feeling shooting pains in her stomach, she realized she hadn't eaten since breakfast. "I'll find some berries" she thought to herself, once again strolling down the path.
Berries were harder to find than Esperanza thought. Oh sure, there were plenty farther back on the path, but they seemed to be more scarce here. She came to a bush with some dark purple berries. Popping one into her mouth, Esperanza made a face and quickly spit it out. "Ew!" It was very bitter and tasteless. Sighing, she kept looking for something to eat.
About five more minutes down the path, near a fork in he road, she found a bush with bright, large red berries. She tried one, and sighed with delight. These were delicious.
She stuffed her face, and then stuffed her skirt pockets, for a snack later. It was probably useless, she thought, she was getting so full now she couldn't possibly be hungry later.
Suddenly, Esperanza heard voices. Someone was coming down the other fork in the path. A red-head girl, it looked like, with her pet?
"Hello!" Esperanza tried to call out, through a mouthful of sweet berries. She was glad her Mama wasn't hear to criticize her for talking with her mouth full.
Quickly swallowing, she called out again. "Hello!"

The voice of Esperanza drifted easily to the keen ears of both Jessabella and Maethor, though the later pretended to ignore the voice and turned to his bonded as he allowed his hind quarters to drop so that he was sitting on the trail and nodded toward the girl as he talked "Go talk, Maethor will wait here" Jessabella gave him a smile, by now understanding that he would always ignore other humans and would go out of his way to not be around when she was talking to them. Lowering a hand to his head she gave it a soft ruffle, her way of letting him know that she would be careful and walked toward where the voice was coming from and soon came upon the girl.

She was eating from a berry bush, her lips stained with juice which drew a grin from the elvan girl "Greetings young one, I see you are enjoying natures bounty" her head tilted toward the bush and she herself reached out to carefully pull a few berries from the branches, roll them between her fingers and pop them lazily into her mouth. They where palatable enough to her, there where more interesting flavors for sure but they where filling enough if someone was hungry and it certainly seemed that it was the case with Esperanza. Nodding her head in approval she cleaned her hand on her pant leg and offered it toward the other in a way that she had quickly learned was a human greeting "The name is Jessabella" she didn't bother to introduce Maethor as she wasn't sure that the girl had seen him and he had hung so far back that that he might not even be visible to the other.

Licking her lips she waited for a response the smile never leaving her lips.

"Pleasure to meet you, Jessabella" The name felt stuck on Esperanza's tongue. Being raised speaking Spanish, the double L sound was very hard to pronounce. She longer to call the girl Jessabeya, but thought that would seem rude.
Esperanza wondered why the girl called her "young one". Her seventeenth birthday was in a few weeks. And the girl didn't seem much older than she. Only by a few years, at the most. "Mama always did say I looked younger than I really am" Esperanza thought to herself, smiling at the rememberence of her kind Mama.
She snapped back to reality. The girl stuck her hand out, seeming to want to shake hands with her. This was very new to Esperanza. At home, she was always greeted by a hug from the women, and a bowing kiss on the hand from the men. She awkwardly stuck her hand out, grabbed the girls', and shook.
"My name is Esperanza Rosa Portulaca, you may call me Esperanza" she stepped back and took a sweeping curtsy, fanning her skirt, bowing, and placing her right toe behind her left heel, the way she was taught to introduce herself. It was very hard to balance a curtsy. Esperanza smiled, remembering when she used to topple over onto her guests trying to curtsy properly.
"May I ask why you are exploring the land today?" Esperanza asked, a friendly smile on her stained lips. "Enjoying the bonita-eh, pretty weather, I presume?"

Jessabella listened in surprise to the girl's accent, the exotic sound was like nothing she had heard before and she found herself wordlessly moving her lips as she attempted to round out the sound and figure it out with little success. There was one thing she noticed however and that was the double L sound in her name was not something that sat comfortably with that accent at all, she was used to her name flowing gracefully from the lips of her people rather then being awkward. She chewed her lower lip habitually as she shook Esperanza's hand "Call me Jess or whatever you wish if it is easier for you" her own accent allowed the the Spanish name to flow easily from her tongue but her accent swayed from a gentle bell like grace to the crass accent of planet as she talked.

The courtesy put her ill at ease, it reminded her of home and a wave of homesickness hit her in the stomach and caused a tear to trail down her face which she hastily wiped from her face with her now free hand and hoped that Esperanza hadn't noticed. It wasn't that she didn't want to show her emotions, she just didn't want to explain that she was homesick when she thought that she had put all that nonsense far behind her. Jessabella snapped herself out of it with a shake of her head then furrowed her brows at the question, she wasn't sure what a 'bonita' was and answered the question the only way she knew how "I am out training with my bonded Maethor, no offense but he hung back ... he does that with all humans" she waved her hand in the general direction of the Panthera, he was still sitting in the same spot but his eyes where on some other spot. Turning her gaze away from her bonded she gave a crooked and somewhat playful smile "The weather is nice enough, makes a change from the usual craziness"

ah yes the weather was as crazy as anything else, she wouldn't be surprised if the reports of it raining fish where true given the nature of the PIF

Esperanza was thankful that the girl gave her a shortened name alternative. She must have noticed that the full name was difficult to pronounce. Jess was not natural, but much easier to pronounce.
"Jess" seemed uncomfortable with Esperanza's curtsy. Funny, most people would praise her for a "proper" introduction. At least, back home on the plantacion they would. Things here on Isnit Weyrd were very different from back at home. Much more technically advanced, yet more casual in greetings, dress, and mannerisms. She found this very strange yet interesting.
Was Jess...crying? She seemed uncomfortable, and it looked like she wiped a tear from her eye. Esperanza decided to hold her tongue and not ask. The girl seemed in good enough spirits. It was hard to be in a bad mood in this beautiful weather.
Now thinking about it...was this a girl? She was obviously of the female gender, but her species was in question. At first glance she seemed human, but taking a closer look...her ears were unusually shaped and she was even shorter than Esperanza, a rare feat. She longed to ask, but thought the question might seem rude, so she held back her question.
"I see" answered Esperanza to Jess' answer. She understood that some animals were shy. "May I see him? Of course, if he will let me see him. I love animals." Esperanza threw her long, dark hair over her shoulders.

Jess looked back at the Panthera, an unsure expression on her face as she considered the question. Maethor had never been one to socialize and never seemed keen to get close to other people, it wasn't that he was rude and anti-social never that, rather he found them not worth his time. Pursing her lips she gave a soft whistle that caused the Leo to turn his head lazily to look at the two with bored eyes while Jess waved him over, for a moment it looked like he wouldn't move from his sport. Of course that was just a short moment and with a lazy yawn the sandy colored male walked over to the pair and lowered himself next to his bonded the look on his face saying it all, he was here at the elf's request and nothing more.

"I think that was a yes" Jessabella chuckled at the Leo's sour expression and rested a hand on his broad skull "I'll make it up to you later you old sourpuss" her tone was playful as she grinned down at the lord that seemed to just not pay much interest in her worlds and allowed his tail to curl around his paws. His four eyes regarded Esperanza for the barest of moments before he turned back to look the elf in the eye "elf-girl better, Maethor will not forget" his tone was gruff and somewhat bored, thought there was an intelligence below his voice that assured that he would indeed not forget the promise that had been given to him. After all he was wasting his time here by allowing this pathetic two-legger to even look at his majesty

The elf shook her head at his comment, she was getting used to his comments and orders by now and knew that he meant well despite his gruff attitude. That didn't make him any less dangerous though and she remembered their bonding with still fresh pain "I would be careful, if you see a Panthera in the wild I suggest you run" she hoped the girl would remember that warning, she may love animals but not all of them would be this forgiving.

Esperanza watched Jess call the creature to her side. A small cry escaped her lips.
This was an animal? It looked to her more like an scientific experiment gone wrong. With four clawed paws, a lizard-like tail, and the collar of a frilled lizard, it looked like a frightening cross between a lizard and a cougar. It's four red eyes just added to its dramatic features.
The Sonora Desert where Esperanza came from was fairly tame, and she wasn't used to huge, scary-looking animals like this. The predators were mostly coyotes and desert foxes, but once she ran into a cougar. She was riding her horse, Tlascingo, when they rounded a cliff and ran into a cougar. It hissed, and Tlascingo reared up on his hind legs and pawed at the cougar. He frightened it enough to run away. Esperanza found herself much less courageous on her own too feet than with her big horse under her.
"Is it tame?" she asked in a trembling voice. It must have been, since it seemed to be obeying Jess' commands.
And it spoke! It had a gruff animal voice, but was still speaking English. This frightened Esperanza even more, but she was thankful for his clarification of his master's species. Jess was an elf! Esperanza had never seen a real elf before, just pictures in fairy take books. She was even taught they didn't exist. But here was one, in her plain sight. She fit the description and pictures very well, too.
Esperanza nodded, wide-eyed at Jess' last comment. "Oh, you can believe me, I will never pet a Panthera in the wild!" "Panthera" was difficult for her accent, but managed to choke it out in her fear. She didn't even have a desire to pet this "tame" Pathera anymore.

Jessabella noticed the girl's discomfort with the creature, she frowned in guilt as she wrestled with the thought that she had did this to the girl and should have thought that she might not even be very familiar with Planet. Running a hand through her hair she tilted back slightly to rock back on to her heals "He's not what I would call tame, he was wild when I bonded him and that wasn't too long ago ... don't worry though, he doesn't see humanoids as worth his time to fight" the elf hoped that put the girl at ease with the situation she really did as the trembling in her voice just made Jess feel all the worse about what she had done.

She started to chew on her lower lip, it was a habit when she was worried and stressed as she was in this situation and her head turned to Maethor whom seemed to get that his presence was causing a scene and he walked away, his body slipping into the foliage nearby and vanishing from sight. Glad that the Leo had some sense to leave the elf took a step closer and laid a hand to the girl's shoulder "I'm sorry, I didn't know he would frighten you ... I should have mentioned that he was a little fierce looking" her voice was full of concern and worry, in her eyes she had done something that was a terrible thing indeed and she hadn't meant to frighten Esperanza in the slightest.

"There are less frightening shinies to bond to I assure you, not all of them are as frightening as Maethor is" Hopefully ending on a kinder note she gave a half smile though the concern was still in her eyes.

Esperanza frowned. She had made the elf-girl upset.
"Oh please do not be worried. I'm not upset in the slightest. Your creature just gave me a startle, that's all!" Jess' hand on her shoulder comforted her even more. She really was concerned that she had frightened Esperanza.
"I'm still meeting most of the creatures here" Esperanza replied. "My favorite are the Unicorns. I like Mehdayris too. I guess I just prefer vegetarian animals." she laughed. "Where I grew up in my home world, most of the carnivores were coyotes and desert foxes" she winced. Jess probably had no idea what coyotes and desert foxes were.
"Small" she gestured to about her knees "and not so fierce looking either. Much like dogs. I did see a cougar once, a big cat-like animal, but I was on my horse then, so I wasn't afraid. I'm glad to meet Maethor, I just wasn't expecting such a ferocious-looking creature!"
"But please, don't be concerned. I'm sorry I took such a surprise" Esperanza pleaded with her light brown eyes into the elf's.
