What Are Interactive Character Descriptions? Interactive character descriptions is a way to add a bit of realism when it comes to our characters when we roleplay. In short, it is to try and bring the memories of ‘the day we first met’ to the characters. To do this, there are two types of character descriptions. The first one, the brief character description, is the one that is going to be shown to the public. It is usually what you can estimate upon first meeting a person. Their age (eyeballed), their gender (sometimes), their general appearance, as well as their species and rank if it is obvious. Usually this is described for all pets, dragons, and your characters. Your short character descriptions will be posted in everything characters. The second description is your full fledged description. In this description, you will have the personality, quirks, the history (if you want), as well as all the details in the short descriptions. This is to make sure that you remember your characters, and it also helps you keep note of all the things you want to keep track of with your character. These character descriptions will be found in a locked subforum with your name on it in Ze profile bank of doom. To get your very own subforum go to the Empty Profile Bank section, and choose one of the forums that are labelled ‘Open’. The first topic that you should post is a topic containing a password (which should be different than your password to log in), something easy that you will remember. As soon as an admin logs in, they will move the forum to Ze profile bank of doom, name that subforum as your username, and password lock it. After this, you will be ready for validation. However, you are free to start posting your characters there whenever you want. It is there where you will know if your character has been accepted, or what changes you need to make to him or her. How Do I Get my Description Approved? You post your long one in your profile bank, and the short one in everything characters. After you have done that, an admin will go in and read your long character description. If it is approved, your short one is approved automatically. ^^ Why is it Called Interactive? You see, this is where the fun part comes in, and it is perfectly optional. After every interaction with a character, I encourage you to go to the profile of the person with whom you were interacting, and write down a little blurb of what your character thought of that character. Did they perceive him or her as arrogant or snobbish? Were they kind and considerate, or as rude as can be? The whole point for the descriptions to be hidden is that you can not look at a character and automatically know if they are going to work or not. It gives everything a touch of realism, and who knows how a character is going to act the next time you meet him or her! Opinions can change over time, and you now have the challenge to portray your characters correctly to the public! 8) |
