What's Happening
After a beautiful eventless summer, the Weyr is caught unprepared within the thralls of winter as a major storm seems to be on the way. Winds are picking up. The dragons are getting restless. There is no rest for the weary as people run around and try to make sure that everything is tied down and ready for the high winds. However, for some strange reason, the current inventory seems to be lacking. Have things gone missing?

Welcome to the New Inora!
Sooo... School's been out for a while, and I didn't have time for this place. However, now I'm a woman on a mission and I'm bringing it back! Kith has nearly all been revamped, so it is going to be a welcomed sight indeed!

All the creatures are currently put on hold while I at least re-write the rough draft versions of them. Hopefully, once I get everything else up to date, I can do one-two per day, and have them done in a month! 8D! Might never happen, but hey! It's a goal, right? XD

Whether you are thinking to join, or just wanting people to chat to, we always welcome people at our site and in our chat box. If you are thinking of joining, don't be shy or intimidated. Ask 1000 questions. Trust me, we've all been there, and a lot of things are a tad different than other Weyrs here. ^^ So welcome to our humble abode, and I hope you enjoy yourself!

Don't forget to check out the Contests! There's always something exciting going on. ^_^

What's Happening
There is a body of a dragon on the ground; the Base has gone up in a frenzy. A dragon has been murdered, and a rider is left to madness. Dragonriders are furious as the progress to break down the tyranny within the Base seems to have taken ten steps back. Residents are on edge and there is one nagging thought that bites at the consciousness of the people of the Base... Has Darvulok lost so much honour due to the events of the past to go so far as to attack their own?

Facts, Questions, & Answers

I’ve got a theory, that it’s a demon! … A dancing demon… Neh, something isn’t right there…

Hey guys! Welcome to the FAQs section! Please come here before you go anywhere’s else to ask your question. We love to answer your questions, but there are some that become really repetitive, and it might save everyone some hassle if we post them up here. No one has to know who asked the question, and everyone gets an answer. ^^

The Questions will be Bolded, while the answers will remain neutral, and specific facts shall be underlined.

Who are the Admin?
Currently, Khallayne and Firey are working administrating the site, however Khallayne (Khay from here on in) is the site creator.

How old is your site?
Well… The site originally opened in MSN groups as Kithkanan Weyr on September 1st, 2005. The Base, and the Lands opened on September 13th, 2008. Unfortunately, MSN groups decided to close its services, and we moved here.

It went under the name of Inora, on October 23rd, 2008 because of MSN groups closing. And we are here now. So, do the math. =P

How active is the site?
Honestly, it depends on the time of the year, and it goes through phases, like those of a two year old child. You have days where it is active, and days were it is really slow, unfortunately. Hopefully new faces will turn this depression around =3.

Do we have to read anything after or before we join?
Yes. Very much so. There is a lot of information on Inora, and there are certain things that I would like to have read if you want to get farther.

Before you join, I recommend that you should read the Laws section, and the histories. This is only to make sure that you like what you are getting into. I don’t appreciate it when people join, and then suddenly quit. >.>

After you join, I’d recommend reading everything listed under Inora’s Goods. Why? Because it’s important, and there are some neat facts.

O.O! Are there any that I can skip?
Hahahahaha! I know it is a lot to read. Trust me. I wrote the whole thing! And I’m constantly going back to it. However, yes, there are a few things that you can skip. The creatures, the dragon colours, and the adoption page. Unfortunately for you, isn’t that why you are here? xD

Are we on Pern? I’m confused.
No, actually, you aren’t on Pern anymore. You are on Inora.

Is there anything on this site that is related to Anne McCaffrey’s books?
Actually, yes. There is the impression, and the bond between the dragons and riders. There is thread. There is between (though I did kind of massacre that one pretty well, didn’t I?). I have Whers and Fire lizards that come from the books, with my own unique twist… There are the terms: Weyr, Candidate, Weyrling, Hold, Hall, Fire-Lizards, Whers, and whatever else you see that looks like it is from the books. The red star still passed around… >.>

Ummm… The dragons are kind of different, but a lot of the lessons resemble what you would see in a Normal Weyr. At least, at the Weyr. And the History of how humans got on Inora! (*puffs out chest, proud*)

Woah wait! You said the dragons are different… How so?
Well… The dragons are bigger, they actually do possess a memory, thank you very much. They can be immortal, they have sexualities, much like we do. A lot of them are fairly independent, though the ‘pernese’ ones are much less. They don’t only impress to certain genders, and some of them are as twisted as people, and some kinder and more ditzy than ever!

You have the Unknown dragons that fly around everywhere, and the elementals and special dragons that we have. The ranking amongst dragons consist of Queen, and everyone else (Unknowns come first in reality, but I don’t really role-play that). That’s it.

What is Inora?
Inora is a world that Khay created. Unfortunately, in her mind it is always growing, which means that there will always be new things to read on Inora… But, it isn’t that bad. You get used to it really fast.

When you say “Be what you want,” can we really create our own races?
Absolutely! We ADORE having new races popping up! ^^

Do we have to write a description about our race?
Eh, this one is a tough one to answer… But yes, if you are making your own race, I would like, if at some point in time, that you had a description written out. It makes things easier for us, and it gives people inspiration, and new prospects.

I don’t want there to be another one of my race! Do I need to allow other members?
… Yes. If you are creating a race, you must be willing to have others join. You can judge who gets in, and who doesn’t, but if I see that you are only letting close friends in, I will put my foot down. You can't smuggle a race all to yourself.

I would like to play (insert-name-here) this race! Can I?
Well little Grasshopper, to do that, you will have to ask the creator of the races. I don’t want to see people popping up with races and not asking the creators. It would simply be rude. So, it should either be the person who created the thread, or the person’s name will be mentioned inside. Just take a look. It’s the safest way.

How many characters can I have?
As much as you can handle, honestly. Let your imagination soar. Zoooooom!

What is a Darosuke?
Ummm… Remember when I said to read the pages? It is for this reason. The Darosuke are explained in detail in their own little section under Inoran Information. Make your way there, read the pages. Don’t understand? Then PM me.

So, we’re not on Pern anymore… Is there still Threadfall?
Yup! Poisonous thread too. Better check out the menaces!

How many Weyrs are there?
Just one. Kithkanan Weyr (It’s a continent with its own sustaining land).

Isn’t the Base a Weyr?
Urrr… In concept, yes. In name, no. The Base is its own structure where dragons live, outside of the Land’s control.

Are Rogues evil?
No. Rogues, {never rouge… That is the colour red in French…} are not evil. Rogue dragons, are not evil. Both Rogue and Guardian can have temperamental issues. They both can be of a darker attitude. There was a war that happened, but not many people know the real cause of it. People think it is only the Rogues, some think that the Guardians instigated it. A war is a war, it doesn’t mean that some people are more evil than others.

So what is the difference between a Rogue and a Guardian?
Well… A Guardian is someone who works alongside the Holds and the Land, and try not to step on anyone’s toes. They are the ones that are called when danger is happening. Guardians have it pretty easy. Nice healthy land, random troubles, they are liked by all… Have Seniority in the Queens. Guardians have a very great sense of liberty, because if you have a Guardian knot, usually you are perceived in the Lands as ‘good.’ Guardians can be as cruel as any person. Fighting for others doesn’t mean that you are a Saint. Also… It often depends on which area gets to you first.

Rogues on the other hand do not want to deal with the Lands or Holds. They want only their freedom and liberty. They don’t want to be slaves in any way, shape, or form. They have a Base that is run by top clear headed leaders. The base is a harsh place… Filled with fighting, the lands are poisoned, they are just going through tough times. They lack any form of knots, and usually when they enter an area, they are always under surveillance. It isn’t that they are ‘evil,’ just troublesome. At least, that is the stereotype of them. Rogues are not ‘evil.’ If a Rogue recruits you, often you join the Base.

Can I have ******* Dragon?
No. I’m no longer accepting dragonriders. Check the adoption page. If you see a colour that you like, take it. Otherwise, unless under special request, or plot purpose. I’m not accepting colours.

What about a ****** pet?
Again. Check the adoption page. If you see it, request it. It is yours. If not, you can’t have it. Sorry. First come, first serve.

Do I have to get my characters approved?
Yes, you do. It isn’t as tough as some places make it. We are just making sure that you have the correct information for Inora, and that everything goes with the histories. That’s all. There are no limits, and no restrictions.

Can my character be born from the Weyr?
Sure! As long as you have a plausible reason as to why the character wasn’t in the Weyr the day that it was massacred.

Can I be a Weyr dragonrider?
Ummm… Yes and no… See, yes in the fact that there are adoptable ones out there. No in the fact that you can’t really have an older Weyr rider without finding some reasons as to how your character escaped the death that swept the Weyr. If you can think of a good reason. Do it. I have no qualms with it. And if you get approved, that’s great! If not, we’ll ask you to change your dragon’s age, or to try again. That’s all.

Well then, can my Base dragons be old?
Sure. Have them be whatever age that you like. ^^

Can I be Darosuke?
No. Someday, you might be.

Can I create an Unknown and have it impress my character?
Maybe. But it impresses your character when I want it to impress. And I have to approve it first. Unknowns pop out in small groups.

Any events that I need to keep in mind?
Absolutely! There was the:
- Weyr attack back in 2005. Currently 3-4 years ago. The whole Weyr was massacred except for those sent to protect the eggs. In both the Base and the Weyr, casualties were taken.
- The Great Slaughter. Unseen people were murdering a plethora of people. No one really knows who did it aside from those who participated in getting abducted/finding the survivors. All people know was that there was a crazy sorceress that was sending minions to kidnap people with magical potential (the story that the Weyr told the Holds). Unfortunately, with the testing that was going on, many died. Approximately a few months before. =)

How many Wings does the Weyr have?
3 Wings, 9 flights… A lot are empty right now.

Who are the Leaders of ***
For that, you are going to have to look within the ranking pages of both the Weyr, and the Base, and the Holds. They are always changing. >.<!

Is there ever a chance that I get a Queen?
With Kith’s Queen turnover throughout its history. Yes.

Who is the Weyrling Master?
Naelorynn of Kithmitir Asyralith, and Z’len of Wraith Tevenuth

The Candidate Master?
Lorelai of Ethereal Daphrenath

What is a Candidate?
A Candidate is a person that, the Base or the Weyr believe, has the right skills to become a dragonrider, and the proper empathy open-ness within their minds for the dragon-link. Only the dragons can see this.

What is the Dragon-Link??
When you impress a Dragon, it is almost as though two halves of the same soul finally unite and become one. You can share the same thoughts, the same feelings, etc. Nothing is hidden between the two beings who are bonded unless one of the two wishes to keep something from the other. However, with the closeness of this bond, there comes the fact that when the rider dies, the dragon jumps between, because all it knows is living with it's rider, and can't live without the bond (Unknowns are the exception). When a dragon dies, the rider will have to suffer that loss.

There is no such thing as a dragon and rider not having this bond.

Um... Excuse me... But, Between?
Between is a space of 'nothingness' when a dragon teleports from one area to another. It is a void, cold as heck, and you can't feel anything, not even the dragon beneath you. Luckily, it only lasts about the time that it takes to cough thrice, a max of about 8 seconds, unless you are jumping through time.

I butchered it in saying that Between is an ocean of souls, which only the Darosuke can see and suffer the consequences. More to be revealed about this at a later date, though.

How do you become a Candidate?
You have to be Searched. Meaning, a rider and their dragon go out on Search when they are low on candidates at the Weyr, or there is a clutch on the sands. Together they choose people. When you are a candidate, you get to stand at a Hatching.

Hatching?
Yup, dragon-mother's lay their eggs, and then, when they start to show signs of hatching, the candidates are brought in, and the little dragonets choose from the candidates present. ALL candidates are requires to stand at a Hatching.

Umm... What's Flight?
Flight with a capital 'F', is a mating Flight. It is when a female reaches that time of the year (usually twice a year) where natural instincts take place. Just as animals have mating seasons, dragon's have them too, but for dragons, the time isn't set. Usually it begins once a dragon matures, and then they happen at least yearly.

Basically it is this: A female rising in the air, Bloods her kills (meat weighs her down, rider has to enforce this), and she rises, giving call to all males that are interested. The goal is to outfly each other and catch the rising female, while the female tries to lose the males. Basic description.
