Name: Christopher Rudd Alias/Codename: Minister Light Affiliations: The Church of Loge Age: 31 Height/Weight: 6’1/201 lbs Appearance:Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 Though Christopher now dons his religious garments, he initially had a very different preference in clothing. He enjoyed wearing shirts, ties and dresses, but sported a bit different style than regular mobsters and men in black. From the very start he always favoured the “colour” white. Back then he wore an immaculate white suit, white shoes, red tie, white gloves. Personality: Christopher is a man of many opinions and tastes yet somewhat easy to understand and relate to. He has a firm believe in a slightly updated version of the phrase ”an eye for an eye” as he does not consider it to be a vicious circle. Once the initial offender has paid his or her dues, then there’s no need to carry on with the fighting. Which is why Minister Light claims that he is capable of unlimited forgiveness. Though not particularly quick to anger he can be goaded into fights. Insulting this man’s honour or humiliating him in some way is a quick way to get on his bad side. Pride is something that affects his manner of behaviour and is what drove his lust for vengeance. Being somewhat easy to antagonize and such a proud person, Christopher does not have the patience required to follow more benevolent paths. Pride naturally leads to confidence, which is portrayed in all of his being. Confidence in his own intellect, strength, capability, and so the list goes on. The notion of superiority is something that has spread throughout his system like a fire in dry grass. His view on mutants are somewhat stereotypical and expected of someone like him. He views them as generally superior to flat line human beings, but unlike some, Light does not have a knack for genocide. A life of crime has taught him not to waste that which might prove useful, which is why he entertains the idea of a somewhat peaceful co-existence. He also regards Genosha as a shining example of how a mutant nation could and should function. Despite being nearly ignorant in certain fields, Light is relatively well read. His knowledge is mostly limited to physics, math and some basic history. He is eloquent but not overly well read, something which comes in handy when preaching. In order to maintain the charade and keep up the cover of being a religious zealot with a unwavering faith in Loge, Christopher speaks the word of the lord. He generally swaps between religious fanatic which suit’s the church’s expectations and the real Christopher Rudd. History: Christopher was born in Albuquerque, Mexico, to a numerous and heavily religious family. His mother and father were both steady church-goes and good god fearing folk. Most of his early years consisted of nothing but bible study. Once he finally started school however, he learned that there were other options to Christianity. A beautiful and single schoolteacher, whom had recently moved into the village, had taught him about the various other religions that existed. Unfortunately their secluded little village didn’t look kindly upon out of town’ers like her, who filled their children with ideas of all sorts of religion, and taught them that god did not exist. Fortunately they did not dare to commit any form of crimes and never went beyond shunning. On Christopher’s 11th birthday, his favourite teacher arrived at the door with a gift for him. It was a book with poems and stories from various religions, something which resulted in an argument between his father and the teacher. The argument ended violently, as Christopher’s father lashed out. Punching the teacher caused something to stir within young Mr.Rudd and his powers manifested. Reaching out to his father in an attempt to stop him, Christopher radiated a brilliant white light from his hands, which permanently blinded both his parents and his lovely teacher. The young mutant did not stick around to learn this though, as all he saw was his parents and teacher fall to the ground unconscious, which caused him to flee the town. Unlike most other teenagers, Christopher felt like he had finally been given a break, the big man had finally cut him some slack. Though weak and undeveloped, Christopher’s powers allowed him to make it on his own for some time, surviving by stealing food and clothing and such. Eventually he made his way to New York and got himself a job, and a couple of years later, he was finally able to afford an apartment. 16 years old, Christopher had finally made it on his own and was living the dream. Despite living cheque to cheque, he still felt rich. The boy had powers, a place of his own and he was free to choose whatever religion he wanted. Of course, the young man felt a certain amount of remorse over the supposed death of his parents and teacher, his evenings were often plagued by visions of his teacher. As the years went on however, he pressed on and eventually got over their death. New friends, a girlfriend and friendly co-workers made it easier to stave off the feeling of loneliness. Gradually his powers developed and he became increasingly powerful, which filled his head with dreams of riches. It didn’t take him long to find ways to use his powers for more sinister and selfish means. Over the years Christopher had never focused too much on developing his powers, though practising with them had become somewhat of a routine. Now it was time to go beyond simply blinding and stunning with flashes of light. He learned how to focus light into destructive energy beams, how to create energy shields that would protect him from harm and even how to do optics. He was even capable of perfectly reproducing any event in a small orb of light. The young hard working mutant now turned to crime, at the age of 19. Bending light around himself, Christopher turned invisible, which allowed him to commit theft without ever getting caught. This new sensation of power washed over him and erased all tracks of a conscience. As his morals faded away, his wealth grew considerably. He was even smart enough to move out of New York and all the way over to New Mexico. New York was flooded with heroes and though high on power and full of himself, the young scoundrel knew that with all the mutant hysteria and super heroes knocking about, it wasn’t the ideal place to start up. Alongside his girlfriend he built somewhat of a small empire, which was about to crumbling down all around him. As the money started piling on, it was time for his empire to expand. This led Christopher to visit Albuquerque, his hometown. For a while it was good and his henchmen started supplying drugs to every small town all across the state. They purposely kept out of the big cities, to avoid the attention of the feds. Eventually Christopher decided that it was time to seek out his old town, where he made a horrible discovery. His parents had not in fact died when he was a young boy, but continued to live on, spending their every cent to try and find their little boy. Eventually his father had turned to drugs and died of an overdose later on, his mother’s suicide had happened days later. Once again his dreamed were plagued with visions of his parents, to add to the tragedy his powers started flaring up and spinning out of control. Despite being well into his 20s Christopher just couldn’t seem to control his powers and at times he even had trouble activating them. In addition to having Not more than weeks later, rumours started spreading throughout his small crime syndicate, and several usurpers appeared. One night a group of men appeared, firing wildly in his penthouse apartment. His girlfriend had given them the security code, after seeing how much he had changed. Fortunately his powers did not fail him in the time of need and Christopher was able to form a Forcefield to save his life, as he went out the window. Battered and bruised, he was able to escape. Fleeing from state to state, he finally decided to retreat to his old grounds back in New York. Though his hopes weren’t high, he somewhat hoped to find some of his old friends, besides it was relatively easy to blend in there. Using his light powers to travel and hitchhiking whenever his power stopped working, Christopher eventually made it to New York. Unfortunately his “friends” had managed to locate him and shot him down in the street, right in the middle of the day. However, luck would have it that it was not Christopher’s time to go just yet. Barely anyone exited their stores or took time out of their daily lives to see if he was already. Shopkeepers hid below their counters, parents shut tight the window blinders and bystanders simply fled without giving the poor man a much as a glance. Fortunately there was a single robed man, who together with his similarly dressed brethren. They healed and nursed him back to health and introduced themselves as the Church of Loge. They were part of a religious cult and worshipped the supposedly great and merciful god, Loge. Herein lay the means for Christopher to extract his revenge and carry out judgement upon those who had attempted to usurp his throne. He swore allegiance to Loge and became a member of the church, worshipping, doing good deeds and keeping away from crime. Christopher’s newfound love for religion and honourable deeds was but a clever ruse, for the Church of Loge did not inquire as to where he was from and it gave him the shelter needed to recover. Slowly, but surely he started living out the role of a zealot and as he increased in rank, the control over his powers returned. Christopher was among many other mutants in this religion and needn’t keep from openly using his powers. Eventually he regained full control over and use of his powers and donned the name “Minister Light” as well as new, white clothing. Eventually he became one of their most trusted and revered members, gaining more and more authority within the cult. Two years after joining the cult, on his 30th birthday, Christopher extracted his revenge. His plans did not start back in New Mexico, but in New York, with his ex-girlfriend’s family. With that little mission completed, he moved onto the main course, the attack on his former gang’s new leader. It was as swift and gruesome as it was just and satisfying. The agent of vengeance did not stop until he had wiped out every single member, save one. Christopher, now calling himself “Minister Light” could not simply kill her, she had not earned the right to a swift death. Holding up his hands Minister Light let out a brilliant flash and permanently etched the image of her dead parents, into her eyes. The image would remain whenever she opened her eyes, making her unable to see anything else in the process. This alone did not sate his lust for vengeance and he went as far as to burn off both her hands and feet, before calling the ambulance and taking off. Now he was faced with a decision, earlier on there had always been a purpose in his life. The pursuit of freedom, establishing a criminal empire, then payback. All the talk of religion had made him want to serve a higher purpose, but not something corporeal and intangible, like a god. Mutant Superiority, therein lay the future. He was a part of the next step in evolution, and the truth that had not dawned on him until this very moment. It was an epiphany of sorts, when Minister Light decided to fight for the mutant cause. In order to reach the future, he needed to rid the world of its current factions. The sovereignty of man, the x-men and though he thinks very highly of Genosha, he does not favour the Brotherhood in any way. Current Residence Albuquerque, NM. Powers: Christopher has the ability to manipulate various forms of light and light based constructs. This allows him to convert light into powerful energy beams of different sizes and shapes. He can create protective force fields that shield him from harm, create and see through illusions, cloaking devices, etc. The only kinds of illusions he can’t see through are the ones induced by telepathy. By bending light, Christopher can make himself or others completely invisible. By pushing photons away he can create completely pitch black areas. He can release flashes of light that can either temporarily or permanently blind people or knock them unconscious. Energy that radiates light can be manipulated by him and redirected. By absorbing ambient light Christopher can temporarily increase his durability by storing it inside his body, he can also dissolve and absorb various light constructs and certain kinds of energy. Though he can absorb and dissolve light constructs, he can not create them himself. He can achieve flight by riding light waves and is completely immune to the effects of his own powers, being blinded, etc. Finally Christopher can travel by turning himself into light, which allows him to travel at superhuman speeds, in outer space and completely bypass any form of security system or battlements. Finally Christopher possesses a different kind of relationship with "light" then other people, being able to bend all sorts of light abilities to his will. Power Development: In the future Christopher should be capable of producing even more powerful energy blasts, forcefields, as well as became able to produce solid light constructs. Other skills: Well versed in physics and tactical warfare Equipment: His suit is bullet-proof to the degree where low calibre bullets leave big bruises. Fighting style Light prefers to stay at a distance when fighting, throw up a forcefield and then use his light powers. Against not so strong opponents it might simply forego the forcefield thing and disorient them. Edited by llagrok, Apr 10 2009, 08:57 PM.
