Name: Wilhelm Luther Alias/Codename: Marshall Law Affiliations: NSA Age: 34 Height/Weight: 5'11"/144.323199~lbs Appearance: ![]() Marshall's garb is purposefully dull. He does not dress poorly, but he'd prefer not to attract attention to himself, not does he have a large budget for clothing. He does have clothes, however, to meet most occasions, from a 3-piece suit to a track suit, to a swim suit. During his free time, Marshall usually wears loose fitting khak slacks with an untucked white button down. Perhaps he will add a brown suede jacket on chilly evenings. When working the bar, he wears older clothing, some cargo pants and a cotton tee shirt, usually with a white apron over it. Marshall prefers to wear shades of browns and tans, some grays and the occasional blue. He stays away from flashy colors like reds and yellows except on rare occasions. Personality: Marshall is a calm and collected individual. He has had enough stress and emergencies in his life, allowing him to relax and step back from all but the most dire of situations. Even when caught off guard or by surprise, Marshall is quite adept at keeping a cool and nonchalant demeanor. He prefers to avoid confrontation, using diplomacy and other avoidance tactics to avoid arguments and subvert violence. When he must act, however, Marshall would rather utilize overwhelming force, rather than just enough of it. Marshall has few close friends. He is not a loner by nature, but rather must force himself to keep his acquaintances at arms reach in order to protect the skeletons of his past; that being said, he has MANY acquaintances. He has spent years building up contacts across the globe in a variety of industries and positions. Marshall is a good listener, almost to a fault, his thoughts are deep, but he rarely lets them be known. Though this causes Marshall to come across as cold, he has a kind heart behind the silence. He believes in the good of mankind and, despite the his haunting past, would like to see everyone living in harmony. Marshall longs for the company of a woman, and not just anyone, a true love. History: Marshall Law knows two things in great depth: Beer and security. Born as Wilhelm Luther on October 31st, 1974, Wilhelm lived a rather mediocre life in the Suburbs of Massachusetts. His family was well off, as such, Wilhelm never found himself wanting for much. In school his grades were above average, not stellar, but clearly not par either. Despite being born with the X-Gene, Wilhelm's mutant powers did not manifest until later in his life when he attended college. It was in the university atmosphere that Wilhelm flourished in more ways than one. Not only did he find his true passion --computer security, but he also discovered his latent abilities as a mutant, or at least hints of them. During a genetics class, Wilhelm was running a number of gel electrophoresis experiments, but found that no matter what he did, the gels always came out wrong. Initially, Wilhelm passed it off as a freak occurrence and continued with life as usual. After finishing his undergraduate work in 1995, Wilhelm attended graduate school, obtaining a doctorate in Cryptology in 1999. Promptly after this, he went to work for the NSA. His career started slowly, but over the next five years, Wilhelm worked his way up the ranks, becoming a lead software designed for the NSA's security division. He was also involved with projects pertaining to Echelon and PANDORA, and other mass-data gathering programs. In 2004, the NSA began mandatory screening for mutants amongst their employees. When the testing came up positive, Wilhelm was sure that he would be fired. However, instead, he was transferred to a special location in the Midwest, where he underwent a series of diagnostic tests. These tests determined that Wilhelm emitted a special type of energy wavelength from his body passively. Alone, this wavelength did nothing of note, but that if he focused enough, the wave could be strengthened. After additional follow-up tests on live subjects, researchers determined that this wavelength could alter specific portions of DNA, modifying the powers of other mutants, and causing other alleles to express the X-Gene where there had previously been none. Upon this discovery in 2005, Wilhelm was transferred to a secret facility, not even under the umbrella of the NSA, where Weapon X programs were being developed. Working for an unknown government organization, Wilhelm was forced to continuously alter the genetic material of plants, animals, mutants, and humans, in the hopes of creating different types of living weapons. Researchers also documented the effect of prolonged exposure to Wilhelms's energy waves, which was usually detrimental. During this time, the wave length was nicknamed the Omicron-Wave. By 2007, Wilhelm had enough. Drawing upon extensive resources and connections, he disappeared, going underground for two years, taking many security secrets with him. It was around November 2008, just in time for the holidays, that a gentlemen named Marshall Law opened a small bar in New York City, simply called The Cathedral. Current Residence: Apartment above The Cathedral Powers: Omicron Wavelength Alpha - This wavelength alters the X-Gene, permanently changing the target's mutant abilities. The magnitude of the new power remains unchanged, however. This power requires Marshall to be in close proximity of (inches), or touch, his target Staff permission must be obtained for each use of this power, and the staff has control of what the new power is. Omicron Wavelength Beta - This wavelength modifies an, otherwise dormant, allele in normal human beings into the X-Gene. This power requires Marshall to be in close proximity of (inches), or touch, his target. Staff permission must be obtained for each use of this power, and the staff has control of what the new power is. Omicron Wavelength Gamma -This wavelength is similar to the Beta wavelength, only it modifies plants and animals, though, what a cactus would do with X-Ray vision is unclear. This power requires Marshall to be in close proximity of (inches), or touch, his target Staff permission must be obtained for each use of this power, and the staff has control of what the new power is. Generic - The Omicron Wavelength, being an a wave of energy, has the capacity to disrupt other wavelengths, such as telepathy, effectively canceling telepathic powers of equal or lower stature used against Marshal. Powers stronger than Marshall's are weakened and reduced by this wavelength. In addition, if close to to the telepath, Marshall can actually disrupt their ability to accurately control their power. Finally, the wavelength is capable of damaging electronics, much in the same way that microwaves do. Sensitive equipment can be permanently ruined, data destroyed, and electronics shorted. Again, Marshall must be touching, or within inches of such devices. Power Development: There's not too much to be developed at this point, though I'm always thinking about it. Perhaps as Marshall gains more power, he will be able to control the nature of the new power. Also, perhaps I can one day increase the range of the Omicron Wavelength. Other skills: Hacking Computer Security Building Security Proficient with most small arms and rifles Basic Self Defense Connections - Due to his own ingenious software designs, Marshall can still access various NSA databases and servers. He also maintains contacts across the globe. He is a wealth of information, and if there's something he can't personally get a hold of, he knows someone who can. Equipment: The Cathedral (complete with the apartment above it, and basement below it) m1918 (.45) Desktop Laptop Fighting Style: "Let's talk this over for a second..." Looks good, reminds me of The Runaway's current artist. Anyway, I'll need a sentence or two about what kind of clothing he normally wears.
Liked I said before, I like the cut of your jib. Well written and unique. I think we can rightly turn The Cathedral into a forum.
These are interesting, like we've already discussed it's workable with staff permission. Since you've got the whole wavelength thing going, I suggest giving him immunity to telepathy and maybe he can produce some kind of static interference that jumbles electronic devices/messes up telepaths? |

Ok, I edited in the changes. I'd love to have the Cathedral turn into a forum, maybe even with a few NPC weight staffs to serve pub-fare, and a line-cook. |

Looks good. I figured that someone who deals in information would need some kind of protection against those pesky telepaths. Stamp
