Name: Jack “JD” Hayter Canon/Original: Original Alias/Codename: N/A Age: 17 Height: 5’ 8” Weight: 215 LBS Place of birth: Sheberghan, Afghanistan Place of residence: Walnut Grove, Minnesota Affiliations: N/A Appearance: (Body Reference: http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w190/zane32388/Picture1002.jpg) (Face Reference: http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w190/zane32388/ffggfff.jpg) For clothes, JD normally sticks to things like t shirts, tank tops, and jerseys for his tops. He’s got some muscle, and he is in fairly good shape, and baggy clothing just doesn’t suit him. His bottom attire is usually some sort of shorts, usually basketball shorts of some kind. Sporty shoes and ankle socks, and that about wraps JD up, the only thing that really stands out with him is his hair cut, aside from that, he looks fairly normal. (Battle suit Reference: http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w190/zane32388/eyeshield-21.gif) Personality: JD has a personality that can be described many ways. He’s a friendly young man with a heavy influence of the teenage culture weighing in on his personality. JD has many quirks in his personality, but at the core, he’s a teenage boy, gifted with abilities that “normal” people shouldn’t have, and he’s confused for himself, and about his life. JD has moved around a lot growing up, so even though he’s a very friendly person, he has a hard time getting attached, so even when he meets new people, and even if they consider him a close friend, on his list they’re just friends, maybe aquantences. JD is typically a very friendly, and sometimes a take charge young male, he has a tendency to attempt wit when around others, sometimes shooting one liners when he thinks no one else is around. His sense of humor is usually very sudden, using his mind to come up with quick, and instant quips instead of using material, he focuses on situational humor. He likes to relax, and joke around, but he knows how to get serious, but the main way he deals with “Serious business” is to ease the tension with humor. JD is quick witted, and usually has something to say, but that doesn’t stop him from being quiet. He can be described as shy, which is slightly true, but it’s mostly the fact that he doesn’t want to leave a bad impression on people. When meeting people for the first, second, and sometimes third time, he’s usually very quiet, and picks his words carefully, opting for the security of finding out how other people act before acting himself. In some ways, he’s almost like a deer, skittish around everyone and everything, careful, but once he’s used to someone, or something, he can become a fairly nice person. JD has a few bad traits, starting with his confidence. Like some teenage boys, who are confident, and cocky, JD stands at the back, always second guessing himself in EVERYTHING and often times backs down from voicing his opinion solely based on the fact that he could be wrong. He has a huge issue with his lack of confidence, often times he can get so rattled that he can break down and freak out. Another bad trait he has, is his ability to no care. Once he marks something up as not caring, that’s it, he doesn’t care. It doesn’t matter what happens, he’s stubborn as hell, and not likely to pull back. Which is another obvious bad trait, he can be stubborn. Aside from that, if he gets past his skittish nature, he can become quite brave, and courageous, though it’s tough to bring out, JD has a side where he could one day become a capable hero, but as it is he has much learning to do, and controlling his fear is one of them. JD is a nice guy in the end, social when he’s comfortable around people, and he carries a charismatic air, which tends to stem from the fact that in the end, he wants to be accepted, so he may drop down “low” enough to say, or do things someone may like. An animal lover, he may pick an animal he likes, and make conversation from that. JD is a goofy kid with a sense of humor, and a huge inferiority complex, he has fears and goals like everyone else, and like most high school boys, girls are a very large part of his life, and JD can be called a pervert, but he’s really not…not really, just kinda, a little tiny bit…No really. Powers: Matter absorbtion. In short, JD’s hands can absorb a very large range of matter, and change his hands, and part of his forearm into the material. At the low stage he currently is at, touching a material and initiating his abilities will allow how to convert his own arms into that structure. The arm absorbs the mineral, or fibers into it, and takes on the same molecular structure, and taking any form of pain away from his nerves. The arm can absorb a number of things, but at this point in time, that is all it can do. The main ability would be the fact that he can absorb a metal, or strong material, and increase his punching power by being able to pass his physical strength limit without fear of breaking knuckles, or harming himself. Slight “healing” factor in the case that his hands, as long as his arms are connected to his shoulders, no matter what shape his hands are in they will revert back to normal when he changes from a new material to flesh. His athletic skills are also above average. Not so far that he's "super human" but the fact that he is so strong and durable for his age shows small signs of his above average abilities. Power potential: As he ages, the entire length of both arms can be morphed into the materials instead of just the simple forearm, and down. With more precise control over his arms, he can absorb a higher variety of materials, and have more control over the shapes they take. Other skills: Athletic body. Above average stamina, endurance, and strength. Equipment: Football pads/gear, including a helmet. History: Parents, they are always the beginning aren’t they? Jack is no different. Suri and Bruno Hayter, they met one day in the field, Bruno was a linguist for the USA army, while Miriam was in Afghanistan, tending to the wounded. Bruno was a twenty-three year old man who had joined the military as an answer to his fathers “disappointment” in him. Bruno was strong, and used to play football when he was in high school, and even went to college on a scholarship, and he was damn proud of it, and it had helped him while he was in the army. Suri on the other hand was a pashtun from the Afghanistan area, she had grew up there, and traveled abroad to learn medicine, but had eventually returned. Bruno was in Afghanistan to talk to one of his buddies who had taught him the Persian language, and was to receive more tutoring, but he was attacked, and sent to the hospital, where he first met the dark skinned Suri, and they fell in love. Suri and Bruno eventually married, and through marriage, they conceived a baby, who was born in Afghanistan, where they stayed until the baby was born, and Jack was 6 months old, after that, Suri joined Bruno back in the USA on base, where they began to raise Jack, and work on their militaristic duties, Suri had signed on as a field medic, and Bruno tried to get her to stay as close to him as possible. When Jack was growing up, he was around people of all shapes, color, sizes, and religions, and it was a cool thing for him, he got to experience many different religions, and languages, and people, and since they moved around a lot, he got to see a lot of the world. Growing up in a hostile environment might not have been the best place to raise a child, and it DEFINATLY wasn’t the best place to raise two kids, but that didn’t stop Bruno and Suri from having a second child. When Jack was four years old, his mother gave birth to a baby girl they named Zoey, which led Jack to begin his reign as a big brother. Growing up 4 years apart wasn’t too tough, Zoey followed Jack around like a stray dog, always crawling at his heels until she learned to walk, then walking behind him like a shadow, it was sometimes joked about that Zoey had loved her big brother more than she loved her parents. Many of times, Jack and Bruno would call Zoey at the same time, to see who she would come to, and every time it was Jack. When he was five, he began to take an interest in both his mother, and his father’s lines of work, not knowing who he had wanted to please more, his mother, or father. Should he strive to become a linguist like his father? In truth, he always found language to be a very interesting thing, since he was around to much different language so much. Or could he follow his mother? Who was a doctor, and healed people with her magic hands. Eventually, Jack decided to do both, it was the logical thing to do, so in between his school work (he had a private tutor, and when he was back in the USA, which was every 6 or so months, he would go to a public school), sleeping, and eating, he spent most of his time learning two things, medicine, and language. While other kids his age strove to be astronaughts, race car drivers, army men, or doctors, Jack was living the dream, and he was working to BE an army man and doctor one day. While kids his age in America ate McDonalds, then went out back and shot at each other with dart guns. Jack ate military rations, and whatever local food they could get, and real bullets might whiz over his head after diner. When Jack turned 10, and Zoey had turned 6 (their birthdays are only 5 days apart) to celebrate, they decided to travel down to a rock quarry, and play. Needless to say, something went wrong, and Jack was trapped inside of a cave, which had caved in. Zoey went for help, and while Jack was trapped, he decided to explore, he was 10, and nothing would stop him from having a little fun. After delving deeper and deeper into the cave, he came to the realization…he was going to die. With this realization, he did what all kids his age would do, he started to panic, and began smashing his fists against the wall that had caved in. The mutations going on inside his body reflected finally. His hands where smashing against a quarry of granite, knuckles bleeding, palms red and speckled with blood, his attempt to get out was in vain…until his active mutant powers kicked in. With his palms flat against the granite wall, giving up in defeat, the absorbtion began. The granite itself crawled over his arm, sank into his pores, and manifested itself into every inch of his hand, and half of his forearm, covering, and creating a thick, and tough arm of granite. Shocked, bewildered, and surprised, he began to freak out, but after some tests to see that he could still feel, and move his arm, wrist, and even fingers, he smashed the stone fist against the wall…this time the wall gave way little. He was able to use his strength without worry of the pain. Being ten, his muscles weren’t very big, but they where enough, with his granite fists, to smash through and escape the collapsed cave. The ability to absorb elements…that’s the conclusion he came too only after many, many tests. From here on, countless tests on his arms came up…but he was ten, and even when he got older he couldn’t figure much more out. In 2006, when Jack was 13, he was stationary in a high school, since his birthday was late; he entered the ninth grade a tad young. During the ending hours of 2006, Zoey and Jack sat on the top of their roof, the year 2007 was approaching, and they where going to stay up until dawn, it was their promise. And they did…Jack and Zoey stayed up until the sun began to rise into the sky, then Zoey passed out first, falling asleep on Jack’s shoulder, who fell asleep soon after, causing them both to be asleep on the roof of the house. When Jack woke up, he was on a hospital bed, with wires attached to him, and machines beeping. After a dazed and confused wake up, he had to wonder what happened. His mom appeared by his side soon, and told him “what had happened”. Which was, he had fallen off the roof of the house, and got banged up. Which prompted the response of “Where is Zoey?”. According to Zoey, he fell off the roof in his sleep, and when he hit the ground, she woke up, got off the roof, and woke her parents up. That was the story, he fell off the roof. A couple months passed, Bruno and Zoey eventually went to live with family in Africa, while Jack and his mom stayed in Walnut Grove, Minnesota. Jack stuck around and stayed in the local high school for a few months, the activities around him didn’t make TOO much of an impact…well okay, that was a lie. Jack saw the mutants as something special! They where different from normal humans, and from the stories, their bodies could be different, they might heal faster, heck, some people where claiming they saw new races all together. Jack was intrigued, and even though Zoey was miles and miles away, he had too many other things to focus on, not that it mattered, they got a letter from Zoey and their father the day they arrived then had no further communication. Jack began a new hobby soon after he had been released from the hospital, he began to work out more, his physical condition being utmost important, and even more seeing the ability he had would work well with a strong upper body. Jack was soon caught up in the world politics, but only because his mother was, she was strongly against the “anti mutant” movements and all the evil going on in the world, and as her son, Jack agreed, be it his personal feelings, or because he was influenced to believe what she believed. It’s 2009 and JD is seventeen, living in Minnesota with his mother, and attending highschool as a senior. He plays football as a linebacker and continues his research on his arms, and his physical condition. You finished your charactar early and whaddaya know, you went original with the powerset - Bold all the little sections, it's annoying I know, but looks much better.
Not to nitpick, or yes, to nitpick, could you please change the wording a bit here? Simply write that no matter what shape his hands are in they will revert back to normal when he changes from a new material to flesh.
This is supposed to cover him until he's an adult, not just a few years ahead. I think you can have it so that the powers move further up than his shoulders. You don't have to, but it wouldn't be overpowered if he reaches that point some day.
If his physical fitness is a bit above average then you should add that to his "powers" Other then that it looks like this is good to go. |
