But war, war never changes.
Evelyn walked down one of the corridors of the Nyx reading a digital tablet with intelligence reports on it. It appeared that the Dominion was getting their asses handed to them by the Zerg and Jim was giving them a swift kick in the groin on top of it. She thought it may just be a good time to hit the Dominion outpost on Mara Stara. They could get supplies weapons and get a chance to slap the Dominion.

Evelyn continued to the bridge and looked over at Captain Wyvern. The captain looked up from the console he was looking at. "Evy. Reactor power is down another two percent. We need to refuel and get repair parts." Erik said to her, almost as if he could sense her presence on his bridge.

Evelyn nodded. "I know, That is why we are heading to Mara Stara. Prepare to make the warp jump and assemble the senior staff in say thirty minutes." She said to him.

He looked at her for a second. "Mara Stara will have limited value for the Nyx. We may need to be bolder in our action if we want to keep her in fighting condition." He said to Evelyn. He handed her a tablet as he said it.

Evelyn looked at the tablet. It appeared as if the Nyx was in need for more then just a few supplies. The ship needed several key components that would be hard to get their hands on. She took a deep breath and sighed as she handed the tablet back. "Still, prepare for the jump and assemble the staff. We will discuss this more in private." She said turning and heading off the bridge.

Evelyn knew this was bad. To get what they needed they would almost certainty have to hit a dominion Shipyard or take on another battlecruiser. The former would be nearly insane to attempt however trying to track down one of the Dominions battlecruisers would be even more difficult. "I hate logistics." Evelyn said as she headed to the flight deck to find Alexa to tell her that they would need to reschedule her Psionic training session.

Evelyn walked into the hangerbay and looked around at the several busy bodies running around fueling, arming and repair the various vehicles. She looked around for a second before seeing several people gathered around one of the fighters. Kenny had several of his guys and they had surrounded Alexa Reed. "You can't just plug the EKA into the PCM Port. The PCM port is not designed for that amount of data. I don't care how you say you can rewrite the computer read and write functionality." He said to her.

Evelyn waved her hand and got Alexa attention. She then thought. I am going to be cancelling your training session for this week. Several mission have come up which requires both our attentions. She reached out at the same time and touched Alexa mind.

Alexa looked back at her. Okay, I need to prove Kenny that I am the undisputed queen of computers anyways. She thought. "Ow ya, watch this mister know it all." Alexa said sitting down at the console and starting to modify the base coding of the operating system.

Evelyn shook her head and thought That girl is a real showoff. To bad Kenny does not know she is cheating. As she walked out. Before leaving however she head Alexa shout out. "Its not cheating, it is skill." Evelyn just smiled and continued out. She figured she was still listening and was shock that Alexa would make the mistake of responding in words something she picked up from someones mind. Evelyn continued back towards the briefing room which was off the bridge of the ship. She figured by the time she got there and set up it would be just about time to start the meeting.

Evelyn walked into the briefing room to find Captain Wyvern, General Nathan Spearman and Commander Jonathan James already sitting at the table. She smiled and walked over to the computer. "Figures that Jennie and Robert are the last to show up." She said the three men. John chuckle at the comment while Erik and Nathan simple leaned back in their seats.

Evelyn continue to prepare the mission briefing and a few minutes later Jennie and Robert ran in. They took their seats and Evelyn began the briefing. "Well, as we all are aware, the Dominion has its hand full with the Zerg. This has left them open as they have pulled most of the fleet back to the core worlds." She said as information displaying fleet deployments showed over eight percent of the Dominion fleet falling back. "This has left many worlds unprotected even though the Zerg has not even attacked them yet. Specifically the outpost on Mara Stara." She brought up an image of the outpost which changed into a layout. "Thanks to one of our ghost we know the outpost has a large supply of ammunition and the stockpile of the vespine gas and mineral harvest on the world waiting for export." She said.

Erik leaned forward and looked over the data while Nathan pull the cigar out of his mouth. "What are you expecting to find for security." He asked her.

Evelyn smiled. "A platoon of marine and maybe a Goliath or two. The outpost was suppose to be protected by the Kraken and the Warfield forces along with several other planets in the area but with their recall..." She said.

Jennie finished her sentence. "The Nyx is the largest military force in the area. Do you have a plan of attack Evy." She asked.

Evelyn looked over at her air group commander. "Of course, I want to take squads one and two from alpha company along with the Berserkers and an offensives armor unit to secure the outpost. Then we land ten SCVs and load as much as we can. In and out job, thirty minutes at most." She said. The screen showed a drop point with two dropships unloading the troops outside the base with four viking escorts. It then showed the troops approaching the base. Once they were inside a third dropship landed at the base and the other two moved in also. "Okay, lets hear it." She said to her senior staff.

Erik leaned foward in his seat. "The Nyx is still low of vespene gas and we need that supply if we are going to get the reactors back in the green. That being said if you guys get into trouble down there, the Nyx may not be able to fight its way though the planetary defense to provide backup." He said.

Jennie quickly replied. "That should not be a problem. We can always deploy Phantom squadron and Dusk Wings to deal with a Dominion counter attack. I say it worth the risk." She said.

Nathan just put the cigar in his mouth and gave a slight nod that he was good. Evelyn figured this was good enough. "Good, prepare for deployment. I want armor and troops in the dropship in fifteen minutes. We deploy right after the jump. Dismissed." She said.

Everyone stood up and started to walk out of the room except Erik. Evelyn looked at him. "Okay Erik, lets hear it." she said to him.

Erik nodded "I was wondering why are you going down on this mission Evy. If the size of the defenders are what you say, then Nathan's men should be able to handle the mission with their eyes closed. What aren't you telling them." He said.

Evelyn looked at him. "You know me all to well. I am going down their to access the computer. There could be some juicy intelligence on it and I want it." She said.

Erik looked at her. "That explains the Berserkers. Alexa has her way with computers, but still why you. You know a commander is suppose to be in the rear. The only reason you would go is if their was something there that required your special skills. Like a ghost." He said.

Evelyn looked at Erik. "You know I am no commander Erik, that is why I got you and Nathan. I am a fighter, I belong in the field." She said as she walked out of the briefing room and headed to the hanger deck in order to board one of the dropships.

Evelyn walked into the hangerbay which was bustling activity. Vehicles, soldiers and crewmembers were running around the deck performing all manner of tasks. Four marines and two marauders ran pass one dropship that was loading a siege tank followed by two goliaths and continue on to a second dropship which was assigned to the infantry.

Evelyn walked toward the infantry dropship when Alexa ran up. “Evy. Don’t you think it would be better to bring me along in the dropship. I am just as good on the ground as in the air.” She said as if Evelyn had forgot that Alexa had been a shadowguard canidant and mercenary.

Evelyn looked at Alexa and tapped her head indicating to read her thoughts. You certainly would be a great person to have on the ground all the time but you are one of our Viking pilots and that is a more critical position. The beauty of it is if we should need you we can always have you land and join use for your assistance. She thought trying to make sure that Alexa kept in practice reading minds.

Alexa nodded. “Yaw yaw...” She said before running to her Viking. Elisa meanwhile walked up the ramp of her dropship and looked around. She noticed both squads on board and hit the button on next to her that raised the ramp door.

As the ramp closed she walked pass the soldiers. Most of them simply gave her a nod and a “ma’am” as she passed. Evelyn continued to the front of the dropship and took a seat against the back wall. She placed her rifle above her head in the rack and then hit the speaker next to her. “Okay Dave, the bus is full and ready for the tour.” She said as she leaned back and waited for the fun to start.

Meanwhile outside the second transport finished loading the mechs and the third just started to load up SCVs. At the same time at the fair side of the hanger four pilots were climbing into the cockpits of fighters. “Okay remember our primary job is to keep the skies clear for the dropships and infantry. Once down the Goliath will make sure that tank is protected but I want to make it clear. We will make sure that they are not needed.” Jennie said as she climbed aboard her own craft and put on her helmet. “Good hunting.” She said before closing the canopy. The fighters quickly launched first follow dropship and the group descended towards the planet.

The descent to the landing zone went surprisingly smoothly; almost too smoothly in Evelyn's opinion. Dominion orbital command or the local garrison did not even seem to take notice of their landing. It was almost as if they simple vanished and forgot to tell everyone. Still, the dropships touched down two clicks from the supply depot and all the marines started to stand.

Evelyn also stood up and grabbed the rifle off the rack. She turned around and started to walk towards the loading ramp. As she walked the marines and marauders took a step back to get out of her way. Some may have thought that they moved out of fear, and that would be part of it, however they mostly moved out of respect. Moreover Evelyn was the primary scout of this mission thanks to her cloak.

Once Evelyn hit the ramp she turned back to the marines. She gave one of them a nod before vanishing. While cloak she took off running using her HES psi-muscles to allow her to move faster.

At the same time as Evelyn was taking off, a voice appeared in all the ground units’ headsets. "This is the Spearman, Squad One is on point. Squad Two will be watching the asses of the group while the mechanized units are in the middle. Don't worry too much about air as the Berserkers will be keeping the skies clear. Remember to keep your spacing and don't be dumb asses or you will have my boot so far up your ass that you will be able to lick it clean." He said monitoring the situation from the bridge of the Nyx. The soldiers all said 'yes sir!' after the mission briefing and started to form up. They moved out about thirteen minutes after landing due to the time it took the mech forces to disembark the second dropship and get prepared.

Eyelyn meanwhile was covering the distance between the drop site and the depot at a breakneck speed. She eventually arrived at a hill overlooking the depot and dropped to her stomach. She looked out over the perimeter with her goggles and looked for signs of life. She spotted two marines walking the fence line and an additional three in the watch tower. As she took a closer look she noticed a single Goliath she assumed was for patrols. Evelyn got on her radio. "You’re getting all this Nathan." She said softly.

A second later she got a response in her headset. "Damn straight. I figure you could take all that out if you really tried. However I am betting a week’s pay that you wanting my boys to do some of the legwork." He said.

Evelyn smiled slightly at just how crazy the general's talk was. "Yep, I was planning to enter the main facility from the south end. What do you think, Siege up the tank were I am at to deal with the outer guards. Then have the ground pounders secure the out buildings and garage before setting up our own perimeter.” Elisa responded. She was not giving orders to Nathan, she respected his abilities and experience to much for that; however she had objectives she wanted achieved also. So she figured she would simple take the task she knew normal marines could not hope to achieve while she let them do what they do best. Nathan also knew this was the case and would act accordingly. This level of understanding of the others abilities and requirements was the advantage of them spending the last two years working together.

Evelyn slowly approached the entrance of the base under cloak. She passed several marines. “Ha Frank, did you hear something?” One of the marines said to another one.

The marine looked at his companion. “Ya, you passing gas. Did you crap your armor with that one.” The marine said jokingly. The other marine simple flipped the other marine off as he walked sweeping the area with his gauss rifle.

This did not bother Evelyn as she continued passed the marines and moved into the base. She was use to passing by soldiers just a meter or less away. This sometimes still give people a feeling they are being watched or someone walked over their grave. It was something to do with the psionic field she produced and the nature of touching peoples’ minds constantly.

Evelyn made her way into the base and looked around she had two options at this point. She could head to the vehicle bay and kill the Goliath crew so that Jonathan could get another mech for his people to use or she could go to the command headquarter and cut through the command personal and save the computers to gather more intell about Dominion activities in this area. The intell was the obvious the better choice as the mech force did not really need another Goliath like they needed more siege tanks for larger assault missions.

Evelyn Faye slowly made her way through the base; she passed by the main barrack which had about twelve marines out of their armor sleeping. She debated for a fraction of a second of just killing them while they slept so they would not be there to respond to her attack but it just was too risky someone would find the bodies and set off the alarms.

Evelyn eventually made her way up to the main control and looked in through the door. There were about eight people all in Dominion uniforms working at the varying stations with a single base commander moving between them. Evelyn reached out and touched each person’s mind. Most of them where just nobodies pulled in from the local settlement to work at the outpost. She would not hold this against them and only targeted the base commander and anyone that would not surrender after his death.

Evelyn walked into the control room and approached the base commander from behind. When she was only about a foot away she activated one of her psiblades and thrusted it through the base commander. All the sudden one of the operators that could see the base commander get cut in halve shouted. “WE GOT DARK TEMPLAR IN THE BASE!” in a panic.

Evelyn decloaked and pointed her pistol at the operators. “Slowly back away from the computers. The Dominion is my enemy, not Mara Stara people.” She said.

All the operators slide their chairs backwards slowly. As they did one of them said. “I hate ghost.” He mumbled more to himself then to anyone in protectoral. One of the operators leaned over to the other. “That is no regular ghost; that is Evelyn Faye of the Ghost Army.”

Evelyn smiled slightly. “It is nice to be known… Means I am doing something right. Now please go home. I don’t want to get hurt…” She said as the thundering sound of the siege tanks 180 mm shock cannon pounding outside. “Or maybe you should wait in the base until the thunder stops.” She said walking over to one of the console and began working on breaking the encryption. It was one of the Dominion’s newer encryption sets design to stop rogues like her. She would need Alexa to get into the computers, which meant waiting for the battle outside to end.
