I. Burden of Proof Due to the nature of an "opinion," it is not always the case that one will be based on fact. However, if you intend to state something as a fact, the burden of proof falls on you. That is to say, if you can not readily cite legitimate sources, repeating it will be considered spamming. (For the record, Wikipedia is not a legitimate source.) ->Put Up or Shut Up Clause: If someone calls you on you to provide sources for a fact as you can not, that means you do not repeat whatever you were called out on. II. Discrimination Dealing with opinions on personal matters— including, but not limited, race, religion, sexuality, et cetera— is extremely touchy. MGSF will not tolerate any form of discrimination. ->Belief Clause: There's a vast difference between discrimination over things that can not be controlled, such as race and gender, and matters of belief, such as religion and political affiliation. More leniency will be given when dealing with matters of belief, but caution is still advised. ->Keep Your Mouth Shut Clause: If you intend to say, "It's my opinion that black people are niggers," or anything of the sort, that is an immediate removal of privilege and a warning or warnings to boot. III. Repetition Consistently repeating your opinion while adding nothing new to the topic will be considered spam. IV. Flaming When dealing with matters of opinion on controversial topics, it is understandable that people get heated and upset. We are willing to tolerate such hot-headed behavior, but we also have the final say in what is and in what is not acceptable. V. Preaching/Condemnation The Opinions Section is meant to be a place for people to exchange views on important modern issues; it is not a place for people to assert their religious views on other people. Preaching (regardless of religion) will be considered spamming; condemnation (telling a member he or she is going to hell) will be considered flaming. VI. Cessation Any post made in a thread after being asked or told to stop will be considered spam. Thank you IAN Staff |
