"I think he should just go undercover. He seems to be good at that. Isn't that what he does in every big operation we pull? First he was in OZ, and then he snuck into Mariemaia's army- though, he wasn't really successful that last time, but hey--then we'd have someone on the inside."

That was true, at least. Barton did seem to blend in just about anywhere. That fact had always defied Heero's logic--the kid had a very distinguishable set of bangs, was at least three inches taller than the other pilots, and liked colored parasols. Heero thought for a moment before replying. "Where would we need someone 'on the inside'? Campus police? Or the outside law enforcement agencies? The CPs here already know him as a student. We'd have to erase his school records, with his permission."

Maxwell was giving his stomach an odd look. "Man, sometimes it's hard to believe you're the same guy I shot. You would have never complained about being hungry back then, let alone about what you got to eat."

Heero gave him a one-shoulder shrug. Now that he wasn't in the middle of an active combat situation, little things like being hungry or tired seemed more appropriate. "You complain when you're hungry," he pointed out, looking up at his friend. "Is that abnormal?"

"Come on, let's go feed you. Then we can look for Quatre and Trowa. D'you know what dorm rooms they're in?" He accepted Maxwell's hand in getting up and carefully tucked the blueprints away back under his mattress. Instead of taking those down to the cafeteria, which would attract far too much attention, he went to his duffel and fished around past folded clothes and books for the cell phone hidden at the bottom. He'd already scanned the school's blueprints and loaded the files onto this handy little contraption. He had originally done this so that he could sit at the table in the cafeteria or in the middle of a lecture and peruse the maintenance passageways below the college's buildings, but now it would definitely come in handy. He would just appear to be another rude teenager texting or web browsing in the middle of class. "Blueprints," he said, tossing the device to Maxwell. "Winner's in 202. I never did figure out where Barton was staying," he said thoughtfully.

Now where the hell had his shoes gone? "It might be best to have a better organized plan in place before we broach this subject with the others. I don't want them to think that I'm still suffering from low-grade head trauma. What the hell time is it anyway? Are we even going to class today?"

Heero was just confused.

Duo rolled his eyes. "No, it's not abnormal," he replied, hauling Heero to his feet. "Just don't make it a habit to whine about it." He took the opportunity to gather up his keys and his wallet and stow all his various items in his pockets, including a few of the sharp, pointy objects he'd swiped from Heero while the boy was unconscious the previous evening, while his roommate was busy shoving the blueprints back under his mattress.

"Blueprints."

"..Huh..?" He glanced up just in time to catch the cell phone before it had a chance to smack him in the face. Duo gave his roommate a dirty look and then inspected the gadget.

"Winner's in 202. I never did figure out where Barton was staying."

"Oh." Duo looked disappointed. He hadn't been invited back to Trowa's dorm, so he didn't know where it was either. "Well, we'll probably find him hanging around with Quatre anyway. No big deal."

Duo caught sight of his friend looking down at his sock covered feet with a little confusion. He glanced around, then knelt down and dug underneath the desk with one arm while Heero fired a few more questions at him like "What the hell time is it anyway?" and "Are we even going to class today?" and "How can I be as cool as you, Duo?" ..Okay, maybe he'd imagined that last one. Exactly fourteen seconds later he tossed a missing shoe at his.. friend, followed by a second shoe about 6 seconds afterward. Kenda must have left them there so they wouldn't trip on them. How sweet of her. He'd have to send her a fruit basket later. Or maybe a hay bail.

Wait, had Heero asked something while inserting a cuss word into the middle of his sentence? Neat. Duo was so proud!

While he waited for the other to put on his shoes, he leaned against the door momentarily to think. "Trowa would be pretty helpful if he could infiltrate the local law enforcement's ranks. As a local officer, he might be able to keep the precinct from calling in the Preventers, which would save us a lot of trouble." He shrugged his shoulders and grinned. "You know how the police are. They like to keep things in their jurisdiction, and with a little persuasive suggestion, they'd be sure to keep current events on the DL to up their record."

Once Heero was ready he stepped back out into the corridor. "I'm not even sure what classes I have today. I don't see why we really need to go if we're planning to get kicked out anyway."

Heero chewed on his lower lip while mulling this over. A fair amount of Maxwell's opinion was true, but asking Barton to infiltrate the local police precinct? It just seemed like a very risky and elaborate way of going about this plan. Better to ask their resident infiltration expert himself.

Shoes on and scenarios running through his head, Heero followed his friend out into the hallway. "I'm not even sure what classes I have today. I don't see why we really need to go if we're planning to get kicked out anyway." That was also an astute observation. At this point they might as well save themselves the headache of mundane lectures and put their time to better uses. Like snooping around the school to see just how accurate Heero's pilfered blueprints were. Any flaw in their mission could have disastrous results--they'd never attempted to take hostages before. This was an operation with which neither he nor Maxwell had any previous experience, and that alone was both exciting and nerve-wracking.

"We should locate the others after breakfast," he said quietly, walking closer to Maxwell to avoid being overheard by the other students in the corridor. "Then we can take a stroll around this building and ensure the accuracy of the schematics I just gave you. We need to know where every access point in this place is, how secure they are, and how easily defended they can be." It certainly wouldn't do them a hell of a lot of good to go to the trouble of securing the building if the SWAT team could just come in through a basement air duct or sewer grate, now would it?

Heero scowled at a few passing teenagers and leaned into his roommate. "And I only bothered to bypass a few simple network security points in the school's administrative infrastructure. I'm honestly not certain how hard it will be to crack completely, and that's what we'll have to do in order to tap into the campus police's camera feeds. We need to sit down with the others and, if they're interested, assign some specific recon assignments."

Raped by school.
Duo strolled down the hallway with his head down, most of his concentration focused on the device in his hand. He used his peripheral vision to keep track of Heero while he talked and just stayed alongside him, figuring that any oncoming traffic would be diverted due to his roommate's awesome glare of pain and disfigurement, so he didn't really need to keep an eye on where he was going. He spent the walk to the stairs sending a copy of the schematics of the school from Heero's cell phone to his own. On the way down the stairs, he took the liberty of changing the teen's ringtone to "I'm Too Sexy." Duo just hoped that he would be there to witness his roommate's facial expression when it went off for the first time. He also hoped that when it happened, there would be something strong and unbreakable between them to protect him.

He handed back Heero's cell when they reached the common room, and arched a brow when he noticed how close Heero had gotten during their little trip downstairs. The guy looked like he was liable to start clinging to Duo's arm at any second. Although not altogether unwanted, the image that idea produced made him cough abruptly in order not to laugh. He smacked his chest with his fist until the choking on air had subsided and shoved his hands in his pockets awkwardly, glancing up at the ceiling. "I wouldn't mind a jaunt around campus myself," he said airily. "Though if we get caught snooping around in the basements there might be some awkward questions asked."

"And I only bothered to bypass a few simple network security points in the school's administrative infrastructure. I'm honestly not certain how hard it will be to crack completely, and that's what we'll have to do in order to tap into the campus police's camera feeds."

Duo glanced at him with lifted brows, a little surprised. "A university system? That's a cinch Heero, how many times did we do that during the wars? And campus police are surprisingly lax anyway. They won't notice anything even if we leave a trail the size of an elephant."

On the way across campus to the dining hall, Duo ran through this crazy idea in a low voice. "So starting at, say, around midnight, we'd lock the doors. That gives us the rest of the night to get set up. Phone lines go first. People won't start noticing anything's up until probably around 8 or 9 in the morning. They've all got cell phones, so somebody is going to use the wireless to look up maintenance or something to come unlock the doors, probably thinking they're broken."

He ran a hand through his bangs, preferring to think out loud as they walked. "The doors work on two different locking systems. There's the student keys which work on electricity, and the master keys that work the deadbolts in case of a system failure or during holidays. I can shut down the key card system easily, but we'll have to figure out a way to keep anyone from unlocking the doors manually."

"What's the maximum running time for this, Yuy? I'm not starving a bunch of college kids because I don't like the food here." When they entered the cafeteria he lowered his voice a little more. "I mean, what are these demands you were talking about? What would a normal teenager that hijacked a campus building want? Straight A's?"

He grabbed a tray and passed one to his partner as they got into the line. Now where were those muffins? Duo leaned up on his tiptoes to get a good look. It didn't look promising.
