This is the most known haunted location of Blaenavon

Name of Location:Old Miners Hospital, ( Formally Beeches Nursing Home )
Area:Blaenavon, Wales
Details: Origanally the First iron master of Blaenavons Mansion House then the Miners Hospital and then Beeches Nursing Home before closing in 2006

Built : About 1800 by Samuel Hopkins
It has three floors, one attic and a Laundry room that was the morgue

Paranormal Phenomena: Reports have been given since the 1980's and quite possibly even earlier, i have not been able to speak to the old workers of the hospital only the workers of the nursing home.

Spectral dogs have been seen on the lower floors and the grounds ( Two dog graves are in the grounds surrounding the building )

Children have been heard throughout the upper floors and have been seen by some residents of the home, one report was a resident who was bed bound and buzzed the carers for attention and when they arrived they were told that some little girls were in her room and had taken her blankets. The carers noticed that the blankets were off her bed and were placed on top of a wardrome that was 6 1/2 foot tall.

There has been reports of a man who has been called the 'Doctor' been seen next to a sink shaving.

Objects have been moved around the building and carers have been pushed by unseen forces. The carers would not go to the top floor on their own at night.

One report was two carers walking through a corridor on the top floor and they felt a cold blast of air between them and then they were pushed to the wall as if something had pushed between them, they then watched as a fire extinguisher that was on the wall a few feet further down the corridor started rocking as if it had been hit.

In the laundry which was origanally the morgue the tempreture was constantly cold throughout the year even when the heating was fully on but when i investigated the location in november after there had been no heating for at t
least 3 months the tempreture in the laundry was so hot we all had to take off our coats.

Also whilst we were investigating footsteps were heard in the rooms above our control room even though every one was in the control room at the time.

Full report can be found on www.ripsouthwales.org.uk

( We investigated the location after the closure of the home, we were invited by the carers who were acting caretakers until the building was boarded up )

It is up for sale for £999.99, its a grade 2 listed building so hopefully when its bought then it wont be changed and the new owners will want a investigation? at the moment it is falling apart. its in a world heratige town so there may be hope for a return.

Sounds an awesome place. Don't suppose you know of any old haunted inns or pubs in south/mid Wales for us to investigate with a film crew, I am having great trouble trying to find some. I need them by end of this month as filming due to start April/May

Hope you don't mind me asking.

Regards
Jeannette

No worries jeanette.

One place i know of but have never been there is the skirrid inn in Abergavenny.

The pentllwyn Manor inn in Pentllwyn, Pontllanfraith. It is said to be Captain Morgan's manor house. Its a intresting place. A report for this is found on our website.

The Three Horseshoes in Pentwynmawr is also a intresting place, the only downfall to this is that it has only three areas to cover, the bar, conservetry and Garden. A report can also be found on our site.

The next few may have old sources so i dont know if they are open now.

Kings Arms, Abergavenny

The Bridge Inn, Chepstow

Open hearth, Griffithstown

Thats all i can think of at the moment i hope this helps.

Good luck with everything

Gareth
